What word was dropped from the orginal planned name of Disney's Animal Kingdom, and why was it dropped?

I'll guess that the word "wild" was dropped from the origninal name to AK. Why? Um, the word was picked up for use by the MN NHL franchise. Or they decided "wild" was a little too, um, ... wild.

Yes Jay, the word is Wild. I like your thinking, however, Disney dropped it for a different reason.

Leigh Ann - I believe Disney was looking at calling it "Wild Animal Kingdom", but they realized that it was in conflict with "Wild Kingdom", a TV show whose name is copyrighted. So the quickly dropped the "wild", and it is simply known as Disney's Animal Kingdom.

AAQ cards to Jay and DisneyBen. Disney officals wanted to avoid confusion with the television show Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. I used to love that show!

LOL, Jay. I'm sure that Disney could put together some extremely wild audio-animatronics if they put their minds to it!!

Sorry for the delay in responding to my own question - I was not able to get online over the weekend

Sunscreen-covered, soggy AAQ cards to disneyjen, iwannabeminnie and Jay. You used to be able to get inflatable rafts/body boards that you could body surf the wave pool with. The only surfing allowed now is when you rent the wave pool (last time I checked it was $1000 per 100 waves) It's a shame, 'cos it was a blast. I never got a straight story from Disney on why they stopped.

When approaching the Magic Kinddom on the monorail, where in the park do they suggest you set as a meeting place for your group? Where do they suggest you go if lost?

If you're lost, I thought they always told you to go to the nearest CM and inform them. At least, that's what I always do!
