Park hopper question

We're having a hard time paying off our trip and I'm looking for ways to trim the price.

We have the whole package. We're staying at Pop Century for 8 nights with 8 day tickets with park hopper for 2 adults and we get the dining plan free.

If I take off park hopper, that's $200 dollars off the total right?

My question is can I add park hopper back on when we arrive at Disney for $200 or is it an extra fee for adding to my reservation? Can I even add park hopper back on?

Obviously, that would give me Nov to save up the $200.

Yes, you can add the hopper option on when you arrive if you need it, or at anytime within 14 days of the first use of your tickets. The cost is the same ($55 per person including tax) whether you hop one day or all days.

If you have not paid your package in full (you are more than 45 days out), you should be able to downgrade your tickets without any fees. If you modify a package within 45 days of arrival, you may be charged a $50 fee.

Edited: Just saw that you only have two adults on your package. The hopper option adds $110 for your family ($55 each), so your savings would be $110, not $200.

You could also downgrade your tickets to one day base tickets and upgrade when you arrive if money is particularly tight at the time you need to pay off your package.

You should only save about $50 each for taking off the park hopper, with a total savings of $100. I've never heard of paying a penalty to "downsize" but then again I've never done it - I love the park hopper option and use it frequently. As long as you make your changes before the 45 day "pay in full" date, you may be ok. Then again - I also don't use a travel agent and book directly through Disney. I don't know if that makes a difference.

I'm in the same boat but I kept only one "one day/one park" ticket for each person on my package so that we could get the free dining (also because some of the people in my party live in Florida so this way they get their resident discount). I will upgrade my tickets when I get to Disney to give me time to save up the rest of the money for the tickets.

If you have a "full package" - check to see if you also have the "water parks and more" option as well as the park hopper. You don't need the water park option to be able to park hop between the four major parks.

Ok thank you. For some reason I thought that it was $100 each to add park hopper. I must have got confused from the last trip. I must be remembering that the total was $100 to add park hopper. I've still got a while to pay it off. The total is due on Oct 21. We are traveling from Dec. 5 to the 12.

I'm not using a travel agent either. I booked with Disney. I love park hopper too. It is essential to have it for us because if a park is packed, we'd rather got to a different one because our 2 year old can't hold out in long lines. We've gone at all times of the year though with him and this will hopefully be the least crowded. Normally we go in early May but this year it was very crowded because of the 4/3 deal. Loved the deal hated the crowds! LOL Thanks for letting me know I can do this.

I don't have water parks and more just park hopper but thanks for letting me know. I made sure not to add that since it's Dec. and it may be too cold for the little one.

I just called Disney and downgraded to one day base tickets. It took off about $400 dollars and that gives me Nov to save up that money. Thanks everyone!

Glad you found a solution. Just so you know, park hoppers are not essential. Yes, they're great for some; but to us, we just use TGM ($18) and he has never steered us wrong for the best parks or a great touring plan. For our family of 5, we save $250, and don't have the hassle of transport back and forth to different parks.
