I have seen the opening ceremonies at MK. With that, I have a couple of questions:

1. What "opening festivities" occur at the other parks?

2. On "Extra Magic Hour" days, what time does that ceremony usually take place?

3. At MK, one or more children participate in the fun opening. How early should you arrive if you want a chance to do that? How else have your kids gotten to participate?

Thanks for your help!

I'm just going to bump this back to page one so that some of our veterans can answer your question.

I've never been to any of them, but the only other one I know of is at AK. From what I understand, it you are not one of the few right up front, you don't get to see much of it.

Thanks everyone -- we want to make the most out of our next trip, and I'd love to know all the neat things done at the park.

Yeah, there is one at AK called "The Awakening". Last time I saw it it was a bunch of characters comming out in front of the turnstiles and dancing to "Circle of Life". You do have to be one of the first in line to see it, since otherewise it's hard to see.

MK has one too called "Main Street Welcome". One of the ctezens of Main Street come out and welcome the guests and then a bunch of dancers come out and perform on top of the train Station. Then the train pulls into the Station and they get out and wave to the crowd. To my knowlege, this occous at 8:45 daily, so if you are at MK for early opening, you will have to come under the train staton and stand in the area between the station and the turnstyles to see it.

Our son opened the MK twice in one year. This is back when. We got to the park a little before 7AM (I think it opened for EE at 7:30). We were the first people in line at one of the turnstiles. And he was the first kid there. We talked up the cast members while we were in line. And they picked him. Each set of turnstiles had one family opening the park. He had to choose a magic word for the crowd to say. He waved his wand and opened the park. He got a certificate and the magic wand.
