We are usually at WDW on taping days and have avoided MK for all the obvious reasons. Last year we went on parade taping day to meet my brother and were dreading it, but... it was not that busy. We arrived at MK around 2:30 pm and after about 15 minutes got a front row spot on Main Street, near the Confectionery. We saw Neal Patrick Harris and the last few floats of the parade. We watched a drum corp perform at the Hub then went for dinner at Columbia Harbor which was not busy at all.
After that we used our FP+ (and FP-) to go on about 4 rides, watched Wishes, then rode 2 more rides and watched Main St Electrical Parade. MK was nowhere near as busy as we expected, but this may have been an unusual year. Getting to MK later in the day may be a good plan.
Later that month we saw ourselves on the parade broadcast on Christmas day (for about 2 seconds)!
