Panama Canal Eastbound Sept. 14, 2013--it'll be WONDER-ful

How neat! I'm guessing that Roy stayed in the Disney suite..smile. My kids are excited about it.

We are guessing the same thing!

Kaleigh made one of the travel softball teams. Practice starts Sunday and game start in September.

She also scored 2nd in the county on her 4-H food project. So proud of her!

The man that travels with Ducky is his brother. Ducky has an awesome story. If you haven't been, I can suggest one of his presentations.

Way to go Kaleigh! :cheer2:

If anyone is interested in a good read, I read "The Path Between the Seas" by David McCullough on the last trip thru the ditch and it's a well written history of the building of the canal.

We are looking at this cruise as well. We have done the WBTA twice and the EBTA once. Excited about it as an option for no WBTA in 2013. We will have a two year old and a nine month old!

Looking forward to chatting and catching up with those we met on the 2011 WBTA!

Cheers

OK, I'm I the only one who is super excited about the new cruises from Galveston in 2013 - going to Walt Disney World! I know we will not go in 2013 since we already have this October booked plus Sept Panama Canal with Disneyland booked in 2013, but if they do that in 2014 I am so going!

I'm with you on the 8 night itinerary, we love CC :beach: and Key West and 3 sea days are right up out alley. First saw the 4 night which did not spark any interest but now trying to line up the right date for the 8 night. Yes we do go to WDW allot but it might be fun to do it with a return to the ship followed by a day at sea. Thinking about 3/29, 4/26 or 5/10.:surfweb:

I was given that book by a friend, DISer Glindamood, who went through the PC in 2008 on the Magic!

We had originally planned on spending Spring Break 2013 on the Fantasy but when we saw we could go to Disneyland and do Panama Canal and end up in Galveston it was easy to decide to just pull the kids out of school and do it! We are really excited. We are in 5020 (a secret portal room). It will be me(Renee), Alan (DH), Anna (9) and AJ(7). We are going out of Galveston in October this year, and are looking forward to it - the rate was too good to pass up, but we are really looking forward to the Panama Canal! This will be our first canal cruise and we have heard so many people rave about it. Can't wait to be one of them!

:thumbsup2

Welcome Renee and family!

We're in SPH 5520 on this cruise; for the 5-day Vancouver to LA - we're in 5022! I don't mind changing staterooms - just looking forward to spending 19 days on the Wonder!

Renee, we're (12 of us) going on the 11/24/12 Magic. Looking forward to getting back on that beautiful ship!

Thanks! We are really looking forward to it. I was at a DCL meeting/training a few weeks ago and they were talking about how they have done extra events like Murder Mysteries on the Panama Canal sailing. I wonder what they will have in store for us? Our last longer cruise (11 night holiday) we had Don 'Ducky' Williams on the ship with us. I love the added extras! Have you done Panama with Disney before?

Ok, Renee, did I miss something? Are you a DCL CM? We're looking forward to all the activities you don't get on a traditional 3, 4 or 7 night cruise.

TGI the weekend!!!

We've had a busy few weeks. DH Dave had knee replacement surgery on August 13; he is doing well and is a good patient, as he is doing his exercises. The doc asked him before surgery what goals he had after the knee replacement. Dave answered: Get in and out of a fishing boat; get on the golf course; and be able to board a Disney ship! ::yes::

The law firm I work for moved this week. There is still a lot of boxes to unpack and get things in order, but at least the computers and printers are working.

Now I can spend the next 90 days or so feeding my DCL OCD behavior in planning for the Magic 11/24/12 cruise.

Galveston does excite us since it would be so much easier to get there and back, but since we only do one cruise a year, I just have to hope that they continue the itinerary. Also, I was concerned since our last cruise on the Fantasy was the Western Caribbean and I did not want to repeat that immediately, but since there is talk of other options, maybe a closer possibility. I really would like to work on a Grand Slam with the ships.

My kids and I are at a 25 day countdown for our September trip to WDW.
Plus we will also do a few days at Disneyland before the PC cruise next year and 2013 is also the year that DD and I will do our December trip to WDW to see the Christmas decorations. We like to do that every other year.

As my DD informed me today, it is only 55 weeks til we cruise! That sounds so much better than 300 plus days!

My DH and I read this before we went in 2008. It is very good and informative if a little dry in some places. I do recommend the book as well as some of the DVDs you can find. It made the trip through a lot more interesting knowing something about the canal when you went through it.

I am an agent, so sometimes I get some additional insight - not always:rotfl2: With the Magic coming to TX we had a great meeting with Disney folks and that is where I heard about this.

Jan, I'm glad Dave did well with his surgery.:cool1:

One of the things I LOVE about the DIS boards is that you guys are fanatics about Disney travel like me! It makes me feel more normal!

Thanks Kathy, MPS and Jan for sharing in my excitement...:yay:

Can anyone provide a good link for Panama Canal information, tips, etc. Having done two Disney TA's and other cruises, was curious if there was great info floating around. I cannot seem to find any specific threads.

Thanks so much.

Here are the Navigators from the 2005 EBPC :coffee:

I am also watching the December 2012 EBPC board because there are a group of people there who were on the 2010 Med cruise with us and they really get into researching excursions. :surfweb:

They are going to Miami and Costa Maya so it is a little different then us but getting a general sense helps me.
