Does anyone know if the Palo buffet is back now that Cabanas is self serve again?
I go on the fantasy the 30th we have brunch one of the days at Palo hoping it’s back by then but either way we will still enjoy it.I just got off the Fantasy last Sat and was told that they are trying for later this month to go back to buffet at least in the Fantasy… I am also booked to go next Satyes I love my cruise so, we shall see because my boyfriend doesn’t want to go again until they’re back lol
We did Palo brunch on the Fantasy February 26th cruise and it was not as good without the buffet. It was just ok and in our opinion the buffet made Palo's brunch. If I had to pay the $45 per person I would not have gone. Also we were not thrilled with the pre-fix menu for dinner or we would have changed from brunch to dinner.I go on the fantasy the 30th we have brunch one of the days at Palo hoping it’s back by then but either way we will still enjoy it.
I guess it’s relative. We’ve never been to brunch pre-covid but we went to brunch on our cruise last month and thought it was awesome and full of delicious choices. We dont have the other version to compare it to personally. We did Palo brunch on the Fantasy February 26th cruise and it was not as good without the buffet. Ooooh I hope that's true. I sail on the Fantasy May 21!I just got off the Fantasy last Sat and was told that they are trying for later this month to go back to buffet at least in the Fantasy… I am also booked to go next Satyes I love my cruise so, we shall see because my boyfriend doesn’t want to go again until they’re back lol
They still have the menu of the plated dishes that you could order, but the whole buffet section, including the desserts, is gone. Now you get an option of either a seafood plate, that comes with 1 mussel, I split crab leg, 1 crab claw, 2 shrimp, and a few pieces of ahi. The other plate is cheese and cured meats, but a very small portion when in the past, you could go up and just pick whatever you wanted and eat as much as you like. Then you order your dessert and they are not the small portions anymore. You also get a random bread basket but none of the yummy pastries(like almond croissant) like they used to have. There are a few videos on You Tube if you want to see what you get.I thought that the buffet food was the same as what they offer in the current format. What am I missing?
So it's the same food in smaller portions but not buffet style? I am trying to understand what is missing. I know it’s not the same as the buffet but to my understanding at breakfast you can order as much as you want of anythingThey still have the menu of the plated dishes that you could order, but the whole buffet section, including the desserts, is gone. Here's what the pre-Covid buffet looked like.I thought that the buffet food was the same as what they offer in the current format. What am I missing?
The way the brunch worked was there was a whole area that was buffet style with seafood, cured meats and cheeses, pastries, antipasto, along with a bunch of different desserts in 1 or 2 bite portions. Then they had plated meals that you could order also. They have taken away pretty much everything in the buffet portion and give you the option of the plates that I posted about to make up for the buffet that they took away. Also, the desserts are regular sized and they don't have the variety. There are a ton of videos of what the buffet looked like and of what it is now. If you compare the 2, you will see that it is a big difference. So it's the same food in smaller portions but not buffet style? I am trying to understand what is missing. But they took away about 90% of what was on the buffet portion.I know it’s not the same as the buffet but to my understanding at breakfast you can order as much as you want of anything

Yeah, I can see it being a deal for some. I don't eat the seafood and I can't have cheese. So when it was a buffet, I was able to pick a bunch of stuff that was not seafood or cheese. They have pretty much taken those away. You can order as many seafood and meat/cheese plates as you'd like. You can also get a plate of pastries, including the almond croissant. I got all of that on my last cruise in February. I guess you can also order as many desserts as you'd like, too, but it's too much food!
I suppose the buffet still has more choices, but I rather like not having to deal with a buffet. It's nice to be served and to not have random people using the same serving tools as me.
Either way, it's worth $45.

Most importantly, they took away the chocolate covered strawberries!
