Very cool! I tried to talk dd13 into a top or skirt with that material and she said no. She is too old for HSM now.... when did she grow up? :confused3

yeah my 7 year old liked the other HSM fabric, the blocked ones.. but when I started adding the polka dots she nixed this style!!!

Hey everyone! It's a girl! We now have three princesses!

The new baby arrived on July 2nd, 2008!

It was a very easy delivery. Four pushes and baby arrived! She entered the world at 12:38pm, just in time for lunch! She was 7 lb. 1 oz., so for me pretty small!

Her name is Lillian Kate and we are calling her Lilly. Her sisters are screwing up her name though and calling her Ella :confused3 ! I have no idea why. So at this rate, that will be her nickname!

She is an easy baby :cheer2: and sleeping about 4-5 hours at a time. I am just hoping that continues! I promise I'll post pictures in a day or two after I download them!

CONGRATULATIONS Benita!!!!

I'm so glad everything went well! Yay! We have another Lilly!

Welcome to our newest Lilly! There can never been too much Lillys! princess:

That Eve jumper is the cutest! Megan just gasped and said "Eva!" when she saw it (that's how Wall-E says her name). I love the black and white fabric with the pink.

So just wanted to have a shameless pity moment...I sprained my ankle!!! And it's pretty bad. Luckily this happened now and not in Sept or poor DH would have to try to figure out how to push DD in a stroller and me in a wheelchair cuz there is no way I can do all that walking :rotfl:

Awww! I would definitely so the water aerobics, it will keep you moving while you are waiting for it to heal. I know how hard it is to get back into the routine; I haven't worked out since I first got sick in June!

It's not fair you got hurt and you weren't even doing any housework, lol! Hope it's better soon!

BIG GIVE ANNOUNCEMENT!
I NEED YOUR INPUT!
The MAW Big Give idea has gone over really big. I would love to continue this venture, but I need some input from those that plan to participate.

2. Many families have older children and adults travelling. AT WHAT AGE SHOULD WE CUT OFF CUSTOMS AND CONSIDER THE OLDER CHILDREN AS ADULTS? I know that many 10/11/12 year olds are not going to be interested in wearing customs. We can still make shirts for the older children for the group shirts, etc. What age should we set for this?

4. For the ease of placing all of the information in one place and to alleviate the need to PM several groups of people and answer questions through PMs, I am going to keep up with all of the give information on the Disboutiquers board. I have set up a separate board just for big give information. I will update here regularly and link to all of the information.

I'll post the next family soon!

Thank you so much for doing this: I wanted to get involved in the next round so I will check there. I agree that it should be a case by case basis for age. I wouldn't mind making matching appliqued t-shirts for older siblings or parents.

Cute! That is going to be adorable, whatever it turns out to be!

This is for Teresa:

She was in a mood this morning, lol. I told her she was a teenager-in-training.

Oh everyone has been posting some awesome stuff. I have been reading the thread now for about a week. I have been gone awhile and even was apart of the original thread. It seems safe to come back... Here is a little outfit I completed for our trip this october. It issupposed to be chilly at nights...

That is very cute! I've seen that fabric and wished I had someone in that age group to make something for. Maybe I should go ahead and get some - I may need it for a big give sometime!

NEED SOME HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am making 2 pillowcases for 2 little cousins (they are sisters) on my DH's side. One is going to be 2 and the other will be 1 & they are having their b'day parties this weekend. What I need help with is trying to figure out how long to make the dresses. I don't want them to be too long or too short.

Can any of you ladies with little girls about this age tell me the measurement you would use for the length? I need to finish them tonight so I can put them in the mail tomorrow. THANKS!
I just measured my DS who turned 2 yesterday and he is 17" shoulder to knee. Hope to help!

I don't know about the older children. I don't like the idea of setting a cut off. I think that we should go by a family by family basis, especially if they are siblings to the MAW child. I think if they are not siblings, we could set a specific cut off but, I don't know what that would be! For the siblings, I would like to make them things as long as they would like to wear them or if we have enough people volunteering.

Now, that wasn't much help at all, was it!

I would like to thank you though Shannon for getting this all organized!!!

Has anyone heard from CampbellScott AKA MissCammie lately?
Shes been on my mind too. I miss her posts

My DD is 20 months. I just measured her and for it to be knee length i would make it 18inches. (she is on the petite size, only weighs 22 lbs. )
For her first bday the pillowcase dress i bought for her was 16 inches long. Here is a picture from her 1st birthday

BIG GIVE ANNOUNCEMENT!
I NEED YOUR INPUT!
The MAW Big Give idea has gone over really big. I would love to continue this venture, but I need some input from those that plan to participate.

1. I have put together a short form that I will distribute to families that we would like to help. This form will include information about the trip, their favorite characters, any special plans as well as measurements of children and sizes for adults. I will distribute this form after I have verified that the family has a trip scheduled through MAW.

3. There have been questions about eligibility for a Big Give. Because there are so many families that are taking trips through MAW, I can only commit myself to organizing gives for families that have verified trips through MAW. Though I realize that many other families may be truly deserving, I am simply not able to handle additional gives at this time. If someone else would like to organize another give for another purpose, that is great.

4. For the ease of placing all of the information in one place and to alleviate the need to PM several groups of people and answer questions through PMs, I am going to keep up with all of the give information on the Disboutiquers board. I've actually been thinking about this for a while. It can be a very tricky thing. If you make clothing for all the siblings/ for everyday they're there- what are you going to do if the MAW child has 4 siblings under the age of 8?? That's a lot of customs for 1 family. Maybe what you should consider is doing customs for the MAW child for each day and send matching t-shirts for the family- that way everyone is getting something, but it's not such a huge project. Maybe you could include jeweled baseball hats with mouse ears on them for the fam- that way it's not juts a t-shirt, but the hats as well.

Mall of America is getting an American girl store!!!!
:yay: They said it will be open just in time for christmas!!
I have loved everyones pictures from the AG stores and can't wait for dd to get a little older!!
Yay!!! How cool!

Did it hurt for 6 weeks????
Yes, when I sprained my ankle 13 years ago, it hurt for a LOOONG time. Like others have said, it still hurts every once in a while. It seems like it's easier to re-sprain it once you do it. Sorry I don't have better news!

BIG GIVE [/COLOR]
My only suggestion is that we should ask the families for some ideas on what they would like, or what they definitely don't like. For instance, I don't like JonJons on Sawyer, but I know a lot of people like them on boys his age. So, we want to make sure we make them things they'll want to put on their kids. My fear is that we'll make them things they really don't like and then they'd feel obligated to dress their kids in those outfits.

I also think we should be family specific with the age limit. If a family has older kids, we should ask if the older kids would like a custom made outfit, appliqued t-shirt, iron on t-shirt, etc... Courtney, who is 14, LOVED wearing the custom outfits on our trip!

That is sooo amazing!!! I haven't been on in a while and just wanted to check to see if you had had your baby and it is the first thing I see (in a quote) on the top of the last page!! How fortuitous!! I am so happy for you and jealous as well. I am at 38 wks 5 days - so getting close! It's only now becoming slightly uncomfortable, but I have had a few "signs". Good luck to you and your family. Love the name too!! (and the nickname)

Jess

Wow, you don't have long to go Jess!! Make sure you keep us updated!!!

Oh my gosh!! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: She is SOO stinkin' cute, even with her pouty face! I LOVE her Eden (or Kelly?) hair!!

BIG GIVE

I really would like to do special things for the siblings of the MAW kids, though. They often get less attention and feel ignored in everyday life. I want to make the trip as special for them as possible, too! Maybe instead of making an outfit for every kid for every day, we could limit the total number of outfits per family. Or not, I think Isabelle got enough outfits to last her through the rest of the year!

Heather....I am going to Mackinaw Island for the 1st time. We have relatives in Traverse City, Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Homer, Hillsdale, Dexter, Jonesville, Coldwater, Camden and a ton more places. So we will be ALL OVER the place....hahahaha.

I am NOT looking forward to the long drive though. It will take two days and I just took my DD into the doctor this morning and she has ANOTHER ear infection. This is her 4th one since her tubes fell out. We can't get into to see the specialist and to get more tubes until after August...uggg!!!! Anyway, so I need to make sure I have an ice cold cooler the whole time to store her prescription in!!!

HOWEVER, I am sooo excited to see all my family in Michigan!!! Are the fireflys out?? MY DD is soo excited to "catch" some!! Hahahaha

I LOVE the weather at Disneyland in October. We have been all times of the month and have never had a cold or rainy day. Last year we were there for Halloween. It wasn't even really chilly at night. I think some of the kids wore jackets once in a while at night and some never did.

Shes been on my mind too. I miss her posts

Miss Cammie did finally update her TR today so if you want to hear from her I recommend hopping over there.

uh oh, we have been summer time spring time and winter.. never the fall weather... on the DL board people were saying it is really chilly at night... Do you think these type of outfits will be too hot?

Lori

Unprofesional just about sums up the whole situation! I have said many times that I am o.k. being told they don't know, but don't tell me there is nothing wrong. Riley was really upset the other day and asked me if I thought maybe she was just imagining this whole mess and I just got so furious. I told her just what you said. I told her that they don't know her and if they really thought that they would be having her see someone that she could talk to and that person would make that call. I called the office one day and offered to do anything they felt they needed to do to prove that this was real. I told them that I would leave the room and they could talk to Riley alone, they could schedule therapy appts., I would talk to a therapist, they could talk to friends and family, whatever! They said "that won't be necessary.":headache:

The nurse called yesterday to give me the results of Riley's last culture. I told her that she still hadn't gotten much releif from the (3 day:sad2: ) antibiotic that they prescribed. She said "well call us if she gets a fever or her back hurts." I was really irritated and said "I've been telling you for 3 mos. that her back hurts so I don't really know what you want me to do." She just said, "o.k." and got off the phone with me. A little while later she called back and gave Riley 2 more days of antibiotics. The good news is that last night Riley said she was doing better so we'll see now.

Thanks for the soapbox speech! I appreciate it. I wish you lived near me because I would take you to our next appt. so you could tell the doc. that!

You are welcome! I truly feel for you in this situation. Sometimes it is so hard to be a patient advocate. Even if it is for our children. Do not let the "system" intimidate you. It sounds like they are trying to!

I just measured my DS who turned 2 yesterday and he is 17" shoulder to knee. Hope to help!

Thanks! Could I bother you for another favor? If so, do you know the width of that dress she has on in the pic? I love the way hers looks and I've been thinking that I have done these too narrow.

Welcome back Lori!!!   I think Jo Jo will do fine in the HSM outfit. Love the colors & so original! I wouldn't think she'd be too hot. Everytime I go to So. CA I seem coldish. (I am coming from TX though.;) )That's just my opinion, anyway. Not that you asked for it or anything....:rotfl:

Yes, the lightning bugs are out! ;) I hope you have a great time in Michigan! It'll be nice and hot and muggy for yah! Or not, you never know in Michigan! I think Coldwater is the closest city to us, it's almost an hour.

Mackinaw? Did someone say Mackinaw? Ok NOW I am homesick:sick: . There is a store here that just started advertising Mackinaw fudge in the ice cream (but it isn't really Mackinaw Island Fudge ice cream:mad: ) I think they should be flogged for false advertising!:lmao:

Anyway, have a WONDERFUL trip!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry to hear your little one has an ear infection-hope she feels better soon:hug:

BIG GIVE ANNOUNCEMENT!
I NEED YOUR INPUT!
The MAW Big Give idea has gone over really big. I would love to continue this venture, but I need some input from those that plan to participate.

I think for ages, we should let the family decide if the older kids would wear the clothes. We could always give them a link to our photobucket account so they can see the range of styles we call "custom". Of course we'd need to be clear the photos in that account are not what they'd receive but more the kinds of outfits people here make. Many older kids (and adults) who would never wear character clothes at home could be the first to do so on a Disney trip. For a child of any age, I think Heather's idea to ask for dislikes is a good idea. Some girls will only wear dresses or skirts while some the same age won't wear them unless forced.

As for the number of outfits, I really think setting it at 3-4 per child in the family would be a good number. Although WE all love having at least one custom outfit per child per day, some people actually don't plan their clothes based on which park or ADR they have that day! I know, it's shocking but true. :rotfl: I think 3-4 outfits will give them a good variety without being overwhelming. Personally, I'd rather know we're giving 3-4 outfits to children in 2 or 3 families rather than 7-8 outfits for only one family.
