Good afternoon all! I am not sure if any of you remember me...I am a "window shopper" mainly, but have posted a few times. I am so excited and had to share...I ordered my very own sewing machine today from Wally World and it should be here next week!
Hopefully I will have some creations to share soon! Everyone on here makes such beautiful things and you have all inspired me to sew for my girls. I will be getting some patterns from ycmt when I get home tonight and am on my home computer. I can't wait!
I remember you! Congrats on your new machine!! What kind did you get?
Well... OK.
I believe you!!! And yes, it does sound cool as well!
And not only does it sound cool, but it has a ring of truth about it as well. You surely do bring JOY to all of us here!
Boy, has she got you snowed!
I'm hoping these pics are the right size.
This is the outfit I made for the first round of the Big Give
The pictures are pretty small now! It looks like it's a really cute and different outfit!! Do you think you could post bigger pictures so I can see it better?
I was inspired to begin sewing after seeing boutique Dis dresses on ebay......
I have been at it for about three weeks and I am HOOKED! I'll never know why it took 36 years to figure out sewing was such a fantastic thing to do!

!!! I'm so glad we've got you hooked!!!
I made Lily some --oh, I don't know, Meghan flamingo pants? You know the ones I mean? They are pretty cute. I appliqued a tank top to match. I'll have her wear it tomorrow to get photos, now if I can just find the hat I already have to match it.

What does it say about me that the confused smiley is my favorite smiley?
Yes, I know exactly what pants you mean. Those were really cute! I can't wait to see Lily's.
What's it say about me that my favorite smiley is snooty?
Just wanted to say good night to everyone! My induction is tomorrow at 7:30 am. I am still dilated to 5 cm and 50% effaced so hopefully I'll have a baby by lunchtime! I wish you all great sewing! I'll post pictures when I get home!

ixiedust: I am so excited for you. Please let us know how everything went as soon as possible!!
SHOUT OUT TO JHAM! Who so graciously and generiously got the Pluto beads for me! I think they complete the outfit! Thanks so much!
Isn't she wonderful!?
That is SO cute and so is your DD! I can't believe that's only your 2nd twirl skirt and you didn't use a pattern. Wow!!
I am plugging away at my Big Give outfit for Isabelle but it is taking some time since it is ALOT of applique work (I have never done anything this in-depth before) I am looking for advice on those of you that paint the faces one. What kind of paint do you use and what is the best method to apply this. Hand sewing it kinda scares me so I am thinking painting might be easier. Any thoughts? I will post some pics tomorrow of the capris (I am more then half way done the appliques on those). i have not started the top yet---I need to get cracking.
I hand-embroider the faces if they're smaller. I didn't do that on Bullseye because doing large appliques is a LOT easier than doing small ones! Here's the online tutorial I used to learn to how to hand embroider. I like the whipped backstitch for the outlines and the satin stitch to fill in. The link is also in my applique tutorial and Teresa's bookmarks.

Oh, I usually draw the outline on with a fabric marker (the kind that washes right off with water) so I know where to stitch the lines.
WOW is all I can say! I just found this thread & am not a seamstress at all. I have just finished going thru just about every category on the photobucket acct. You guys ROCK!!!
I have found a new must check in thread!

YAY!! We've hooked another one!!
It's gorgeous, Lisa! I want to know how you do the eyes, too!
I've been around since the first thread too! I couldn't find my first post but it was in september. I joined the DIS at the end of August. I found Jham first post - It was September 19th In case you wondering Jhammie. It was kinda fun looking waaay back to our humble beginnings. I can't believe how much older the kids are looking already!! And it was nice to see alot of familiar names and people who are still with us!!
Jessica- I have to say I was wondering if it was Dallas in the piglet outfit too. Which was very darling by the way. What a good sport to assist you in modeling!
We used to get off on more silly tangeants back then, didn't we?
Oh my gosh!! Those are adorable outfits, beautiful children, and wonderful pictures!!!! I am impressed!
Those are going to be fantastic!!
First off, of you are sooo talented! I found this thread a couple of weeks ago, but normally I'm a lurker (as you can tell by my post count)! I've been a sewer since I was a teenager - cross-stitch, smocking, etc. But life got in the way and I haven't done as much lately as I would like to, but you guys have inspired me! I got Carla's bowling shirt pattern and made my DS4 a wall-e shirt, but I don't think I have enough posts yet to show you the picture. I'll probably be doing things for him and nieces and nephews, because my girls are now 13 and 9, and probably won't wear twirly skirts anymore! Thanks for being such a great group!

Go ahead and do a post countdown, we don't mind! We want to see your pictures! Or, you could post on the test board or something until you have enough posts! I am so honored that you chose our thread as your first post
OMGosh, you people are amazing!!! I'm from the Wish Trippers Unite! thread, and I didn't even know about this thread until yesterday when I learned of what you are doing for Heather's kids!!! I'm so excited because my family will be at Give Kids the World Village for the first two days of Heather's trip, and I'm going to be looking to see those cute outfits on her kids in person!!! Kudos for what you are doing. You do beautiful work with your hands and your hearts!!! xoxo
I'm glad you came over to check us out! Maybe we can convince you to sew!!
