Okay. This is my first attempt to add a photo using the photobucket account. Fingers crossed that it shows up in the correct size and direction.
Anyway, I feel like I have been part of the board since the beginning. I have been "window shopping" from page one and only recently pulled out my machine and started sewing for our September trip. I have made several outfits for my DD7, DD9mth, and DD2. If this photo post goes well, I'll try to add more tommorrow.

This was my second attempt at the twirl skirt. I didn't use a pattern and I made some of the squares 5 inches long and some 10. I love the look. I made the outfits for 4th of July and then we will wear them again in Epcot. I think my favorite fabric is the Minnie Dot.

I love all the outfits on the board. It seems like I spend more time browsing than sewing. SO MANY CUTE IDEAS.

Could someone post a link to the pretrip for the second big give? I thought I had subscribed, but I guess not. Thanks!

Here ya go!

That's really cute! Great job!

I am plugging away at my Big Give outfit for Isabelle but it is taking some time since it is ALOT of applique work (I have never done anything this in-depth before) I am looking for advice on those of you that paint the faces one. What kind of paint do you use and what is the best method to apply this. Hand sewing it kinda scares me so I am thinking painting might be easier. Any thoughts? I will post some pics tomorrow of the capris (I am more then half way done the appliques on those). i have not started the top yet---I need to get cracking.

WOW is all I can say! I just found this thread & am not a seamstress at all. I have just finished going thru just about every category on the photobucket acct. You guys ROCK!!!

I have found a new must check in thread!

Here's what I have done so far for my MAW Big Give contribution.

maw1.jpg

I was originally planning to use a variety of blue, cream and pink prints for ruffles in the back like I did for the Snow White dress I shared recently. However I got to thinking that the ruffles might add too much bulk so I was thinking it might be better for packing to do a simpler back, perhaps stripwork of a few prints with a ruffle at the bottom. That would also be easier to touch up with an iron if needed (although I don't touch an iron when I'm on vacation I won't assume others are the same LOL). What do you all think?

Just wanted to say good night to everyone! My induction is tomorrow at 7:30 am. I am still dilated to 5 cm and 50% effaced so hopefully I'll have a baby by lunchtime! I wish you all great sewing! I'll post pictures when I get home!

Thinking Speedy Delivery thoughts for you! Can't wait to see pics!!

I've been around since the first thread too! I couldn't find my first post but it was in september. I joined the DIS at the end of August. I found Jham first post - It was September 19th In case you wondering Jhammie. It was kinda fun looking waaay back to our humble beginnings. I can't believe how much older the kids are looking already!! And it was nice to see alot of familiar names and people who are still with us!!

Jessica- I have to say I was wondering if it was Dallas in the piglet outfit too. Which was very darling by the way. What a good sport to assist you in modeling!

Here's my Big Give outfit for Logan. Mailing it out Thursday.
http://
Cute! I'm sure he'll love it!

I can't wait to hear about it! When are you going? I might have to convince DH that next trip I need to do that. Last time I mentioned it he said seeing the behind the scenes stuff might ruin the magic for me and he likes that I get so excited and everything is still so exciting for me at the world.

I finished my mom's purse. I really hope she likes it!

I realized there is still a string in this picture. oops!

DSCN0786.jpg

the back. My mom LOVES black and white polka dots and polka dots in general

DSCN0787.jpg

I added the pockets which weren't in the pattern and the 1st time I every made pockets or a purse for that matter.

I might make one for me for our trip!
I LOVE that purse and I'm sure your Mom will too!!!!!

My trip is 8/14 to 8/28 and we're planning on doing KTTK on 8/24. If you are worried about loosing some of the magic you might want to try the Epcot Segway tour as the tour part of it they tell you about all the countries so no lost magic and it is really interesting and FUN!!!!

I'm hoping these pics are the right size.

This is the outfit I made for the first round of the Big Give

And this is the necklace that I made to match. There's also a bracelet that isn't shown.

That looks great. I like your idea of a strip work back with just one ruffle.

It Looks great so far!! I think you're right about the ruffles. They can add alot of bulk and weight.

JHAM clear your PMs
I was trying to send you this:
I'm making an outfit for logan too- What size t-shirt did you use?? A 4/5 or 6/7, 5T. Just wondering!! I hope he likes applique shirts- lol I am doing a Pirate themed outfit.

Gorgeous Lisa!!!! I just love it! You could also do a shirred back so its a bit stretchy and comfy???? :confused3 In any case, I am sure it will be great...don't forget to post the final outfit :yay:

Hey, you have a new siggy too...very cute pic of Zoe! :goodvibes

BTW... I did get the fabric I ordered the next day  Its Alex. Henry so its nice and thick... I just love the nicer material.... its so nice to touch and work with....

Here is my Big Give outfit for Isabelle. I hope it fits! My model is I would think smaller, but not too sure!

I decided to go with lounge pants and a t so it could be worn to bed or just to lounge around in. I have seen so many beautiful outfits and think she'll probably have plenty for all days!

Hi all. I am not normally a sewer (read: I don't even own a sewing machine); however, I'm thinking about making an outfit for my daughter for our trip in January. I have used my mom's sewing machine recently to make my son a Jedi Robe for our last trip during Star Wars Weekend. I'll post a picture so you can see it.

I'm looking for any recommendations you might have for a beginner to make. I'd love to make her a two-piece style outfit.

Here is my son wearing the Jedi Robe I made:

Great job on the robe! If you can make that then yes, you are a sewer!

Great job! Love the pocket on the shorts. I always avoid pockets on any outfit! ;)

I have been around since the first thread. Not sure if I posted on the first thread or second but I was here. I did disappear for a while then came back. Now I am an addict:rotfl: and can't go a day with at least looking...(even if it is on the weekend during family time)

I didn't sew at all yesterday! I finally got to scrapbook. It has been at least a year since I scrapped at all. I got 7 pages done from our 2006 trip. Now, if I could finish 2006 before our 2008 trip, then I just have 2007 and 2008 to do when I get back!

That is so great!

Love cindy! I like the stirpwork idea with the different fabrics and the ruffle on the bottom. That would be really cute...

anyone???? If not idea about painting then how do you do small facial details on faces? I am so scared that I am going to mess this up and I already have so much time in it.

I wish i could help but I haven't appliqued yet. I will say i know the feeling about getting to the end of the project and afraid something will mess it up. I get so nervous! I call it my own persona; Tower of Terror syndrome! :rotfl:

I've not painted faces before, but there are lots of people here that do paint. I thought that I had also read that you can use Sharpie markers for details?

I think it's beautiful! I'm a sucker for ruffles, but the stripwork back sounds beautiful as well. I think that would be a big cooler as well.

Are you using a pattern for this dress style, Lisa? If so, would you share what pattern it is?

Love it...ya, I'd keep it simple on the back...it will be cooler that way.

First let me say that you are incredibly talented. I have alays admired your applique work!!!! I think the stripwork back would be great, or mabye the shirring like someone else suggested. If i did that I might do a half back with some wide contrasting straps.

Wow, that's great! I love it! And I would keep it simple on the back too, I am making a dress right now with ruffles (which I love!) but I'm shocked at how heavy it is! I don't think dd will be wearing it in WDW because it's just to thick and heavy. I think the stripwork sounded like a nice idea.

anyone???? If not idea about painting then how do you do small facial details on faces? I am so scared that I am going to mess this up and I already have so much time in it.

I don't know about the paint, but for the details, maybe you can take a pencil and draw lines for all the details and then paint over them. I used to paint cartoon characters on walls, and that's what I already did. You may want to practice on something else first too, to gain your confidence. Can't wait to see the final product!

Z2DYWCPOQ

Your outfit is adorable, great job!! And your little girl is a doll too!

Well, I'm finished with the dress other than the trim and ties. I'm hoping to finish it up now while the girls are sleeping. So far my oldest dd loves it, but I like I said before, I can't believe how heavy it is!

OH! And dh is getting his eyes checked at the mall today, and while he's there I get to go to Hobby Lobby and look at material for the first time! :woohoo: i'll probably be very overwhelmed, but I'm hoping to find some minnie red/white dots and some Wall-E material. I'm sure I'll be hiding the receipt from dh though!
