When the first DVC property opened back in 1991 or 1992, what were the points priced at? Just curious :teeth:

Go on, hurt us! Please tell us how many points were in the minimum purchase, and what perks came with it. I'm a glutton for punishment.

I don't recall the minimum - we bought 230 points initially. A huge perk for us was "free" park passes through 1999. They were based on the size of the accommodation - studio sleeps four = up to four park passes, etc. However, even without the passes we would have bought in anyway.

Average price per point charged for each year, reflecting price changes as appropriate.

DVCI
1991 $48.94
1992 $52.88
1993 $56.75
1994 $59.30
1995 $62.13
1996 $62.75
1997 $62.75
1998 $62.75
1999 $65.00
2000 $66.25
2001 $73.54
2002 $78.25
2003 $84.00
2004 $84.00

DVCII
2003 $81.05 ($79 pre-opening, then $84 on 11/1/03)
2004 $91.98 (estimated average for year, currently $95)

Minimum contracts were 230 points until 5/93 when they dropped to 190, then dropped again to the current minimum of 150 as of 5/97.

We bought a resale in 98 for $52 a point, so that was just a $3 increase on when opened!

I remember the park passes as being 1/2 the number of the accommadation. A studio got 2, 1 bed got 2 and a 2 bed got 4.

Our original contract of 232 points in July 1992 was $54.50 a point. And we also got that oh so wonderful perk of free park passes. Boy did we have sticker shock when we had to start buying passes.

Yeah, we could have bought in March of 94, first trip to WDW, at $55 or so. But we weren't sure we'd use it, so we didn't buy until we'd made trips to WDW every year for 4 years, Nov. 97 at $62.75. We're glad we ended up at BWV, but wish we'd taken advantage of those free park passes!
