Our Trip of Firsts, Dec 4-11, 2005 (with photos)

THE LAST DAY

We woke up on Day 8, December 11th and were picked up by DME around 7:30am. I’m happy to say it was a REAL DME bus, and a great end to our trip.

At our home airport, we found our car, loaded it up, dropped off the IL’s and the headed home. As we pulled into the driveway (around 1:30 or 2pm), our neighbor came over. We’re not all that close with our neighbor, so we figured something was wrong.

Now, if you’ve been with my trip report from the beginning, you’ll remember my brilliant idea to back the van up to the garage to save us some time the morning we left. Well….my brilliant idea wasn’t so brilliant. In doing so, as we pulled out of the driveway, we never SHUT the garage door!!! My neighbor realized after a full 24 hours, that we weren’t coming home anytime soon, and she called the police. They were able to shut the door somehow, after making sure the rest of the house was still locked & secure.

Unbelievable.

So anyway. It was a GREAT TRIP!! The kids were so “into it”. DD was constantly asking “is that real?”, and my reaction was always “Everything in WDW is real!.” They were a lot of fun, and we can’t wait to go back!!

Thanks for reading, if you’ve done so. I know I personally love to read trip reports. I know that I am no where near the writer that some others are…but I had a great time writing this, and will look back on it later with my family and re-live the trip.

Oh my! This is something that my DH would do. In fact there have been many trips to the store when he left the door open. Now I've learned to go over everything he does to make sure that it was in fact done. :teeth:
Great report. Thanks!!

Thanks everyone for your comments! I really loved writing this report (had a bugger of a time with the pictures, but they finally cooperated).

We did have a great time, and I actually took around 450 pictures!!

Next trip, I vow to see more of Disney through my own eyes, and not the camera lens.

Looks like this years trip will be in August...quite a different trip from December's cool & comfortable temperatures!!! ;)

Thanks again!!

Truly loved your report and pictures - your children are adorable! I really had to chuckle at the pic of your son & Mickey Mouse ;) Those are the photos I love bringing out when one of my four boys bring home a new girlfriend :rotfl2:

Thank you so much for sharing your family's trip with us!! It sure sounds like you had a wonderful trip!!

Trish

PS I couldn't help but giggle over the picture of your DS and Mickey!!

Thanks everyone!!

I was inspired to have a little more fun with my trip report this year by reading all the great ones already posted. There are some GREAT writers out there!!

I hope to have more funny experiences with the family when we go back in August!!! wooo hooo :cool1:

Even when you have someone check on your house, things can go wrong. On one vacation my MIL &FIL checked on our house and fed the cats and left our door to the house unlocked and ajar. :scared1: Anyway glad you had a good trip. I loved all your pics :earsboy:

Thanks, Kim! Great trip report. I really enjoyed reading it. I can't wait til we go this Nov/Dec! You had some awesome pics, too!
That pic of your kids with ::MickeyMo was pretty funny (bless his heart)!

I really enjoyed your trip report and pictures! You will have fun in August. My family went last August (end of the month) and had a fantastic time. Yes, it's hot, but crowds were low and we went to the water parks (first time) and swam a lot at our resort (WL) pool.

I have tears in my eyes after reading your report-just makes me think about our last trip 12/04 (same time period) and our upcoming 11/30-12/11/06 trips!!

Can you point me in the right direction for the tee-shirt info...we didn't really do this last time, but I LOVE the Mickey ear picture sweatshirts the kids had and the princess shirt you wore!! I know DH won't wear matching shirts, but my girls and I still can!! :cool1:

Thanks for your report!!!!

http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=105

Here's the link for the Creative DISigns board within the DIS. If you look through, there are many DISers that have designs for you to use. I chose Julia & Nick's Mom. She had a ton, and I asked her to sort of customize the mickey ears one (it had a background too). If you see one that you like as is, you can copy the pic & save on your pc (just remember to print it "flipped" so it irons on the right way). And then she asked for me to send a picture of the finished product so she could see how it came out!! And I thought I should also mention her name when I wrote the trip report!!

Have fun with it!! I know we'll be wearing home-made shirts every trip now!!

Oh, and thanks for the great comments about the trip report! I had so much fun writing it!!

""Then we tried to explain to her (for the millionth time) that she needed to trust us, and that we wouldn't put her on anything that would cause her harm or really scare her.""

I think we have the same kid! Glad to hear we aren't the only ones going through the "trust us" thing. Love your report BTW

OMGosh! If we aren't twins! We did the VERY same thing! We too had backed up to the garage, but luckily had gone the opposite direction of where we needed to....down to the mailbox at the other end of the street (to mail Christmas Cards). Anyway, on the way back up the street, we see we had forgotten to shut the garage, so shut it. All the time saying thank goodness we went to the mailbox, as it would have stayed open!! Only problem was, shutting the garage so much later than we had left, set off our house alarm! :rotfl2: All the way to the airport, my cell phone kept ringing (6am), so I knew something was wrong and even joked that the alarm must have gone off. Turned out it had and the police were there. OY! They got it worked out though.

That is too funny!! I'm glad I'm not the only one!!

I loved, loved, loved this report! We were at SSR with my inlaws just one month after your trip and had been there with my parents in October. So needless to say your report has a lot of similarities to our trips! I am going to be cracking up for some time thinking about your son's hand placement on Mickey Mouse, thanks for sharing!

Hi Kim...what a great trip report!

I have a question regarding the time that you were there and Pop Warner. I just made a reservation for the weekend of Dec. 8 - 11 of this year and I guess that is the end of the Pop Warner week. I've read different posts, some stating they never knew the Pop Warner kids were there and others saying to avoid that week. Did you find the parks overly crowded with Pop Warner kids?? I understand about the Pop Century and All Stars being crowded, as well as the food courts, but I'm more interested in your experience at the parks.

Thank you for any advice!!!

Kathy
