OK, all you lawbreakers...what should I do?

The kid across the cul de sac (8 years old-plays with fire and firecrackers with no parent watching...) lit off some firecrackers about 1/2 hour ago. (actuall this ONE time his grandma and mom were actually watching him...still to young if you ask me, but that's a whole nother thread for the CB) anywhoooo, about 15 minutes later my kids come in and say the cops came by and said he couldn't light fire crackers-told his grandma....

here's my dilema....

we have about 1/2 hours worth of fireworks(sparkler type with some noise).. that we already bought, and the kids have been looking forward to DH lighting them tonight. Do we just go ahead and pretend we know nothing of this previous warning, do I go across the street and ask gramma exactly what was said, or toss the fireworks into the garbage??? The weird thing is - I am sorta having a moral dilemma with this, since DSs are the ones that informed us about the police...so they would know that we are going against what the police said....we could come up with a whitle lie if they ask us about it-not above that...

what should we do...it's starting to get dark.....

BTW, these kinds of fireworks are legal in Savannah...maybe our neighborhood has a covenant against it...I don't know or care about that. :snooty:

I would go ask the Grandma. Mabey whoever called the cops was just concerened about the boys age like you.

Hi, Lizzy....My thought about that (I tend to overthink everything.. ) is that if I talked to gramma and the cop had just said, "NO, NO, NO", I would now be informed. I don't know, I think I'll just leave it up to DH-he spent about $40 on those things, so I know he won't let them go to waste. I can scrape up about $500 in bail money if I need to...

That makes sense, we don't get to host private fireworks here, so I have absolutly no expirience in the matter.

But if they are legal where you are cant you just say that to the boys? (I agree it would be wrong if it were illegal....to show them you are diregarding the law.....) and say the same to the cops if they come...."oh, officer, I understood this type to be legal?? (nice and innocent here....)

as to why the other kid got yelled at - 8 IS against the law...your DH would have to do the deed.

Hope it works out!!!

Off to see the works by the side of the river.....cookouts over (too buggy :sad2: )

Happy 4th Everyone

Man everyone makes it impossible to take a day away. Hope everyone had a great 4th. We did the parade thing and then the bar-b-q and now my kids are exhausted (yeah!!!!!!) and in bed. We are having a new driveway, sidewalk, and patio put in tomorrow. What a mess.
KAW1218 How is Sesame Place? We are talking about taking the kids there next summer. My kids love Elmo.
hrh disney queen I have to agree about the 8 year olds being way too young. I am sure that is what the cops were called on. Your DH is a responsible adult and i'm sure you won't have any probs. My neighbor is a cop and he tells me they get tons of complaints on the 4th of July about fireworks being let off but he says they just ignore most of them due to cranky people just not wanting to have fun. It does only come once a year. Have fun.
