our non-rushing (sorta) disney anniversary w/ PICS & VIDEO! new TR link - p. 136

WooHoo - Ray's discovering the "allure" of Epcot!

Scorecard reads: One country; 3 big beers; and 5 tiny beers! 10 more countries to go!

I was wondering also - whenever I've had the fish & chips, it's one really, really long piece. Did they change this?

Great update! :thumbsup2 I love the tink bird bath.

about halfway through the meal ray finished his black and tan and decided he wanted to try the beer flight they offer. when our server returned with this, he almost fell out of his chair!!!!

DSC04713.jpg

Wow!! Did Ray finish all of his drinks? :)
BTW~Your drink looked really good.

GREAT UPDATE! I'm so glad you were able to go back to Epcot, and still shocked that Ray wanted to go! :goodvibes

LOVE the Tink birdbath......that is so cute! :thumbsup2 And that "Never Land" area is really cool...thanks for sharing the pics!

ray wanted a picture of these chimney stacks. he says they look just like the ones on some building in england. i will admit to my ignorance about this sort of thing. ray watches the history channel all the time so he's way more knowledgeable than i am on this stuff!

This had me laughing because it's something Chris would do! He'll have me take random pictures and explain something he heard from the history channel or discovery channel. I usually nod, smile, and snap the picture.....just going along with whatever he's saying....:lmao:

Glad you enjoyed the Rose and Crown......it's one of our favorites in the WS.....I think we've gone there the last 3 times we've been in WDW.

Can't wait for more! :yay:

Ok, well i "thought" that I would take R&C off my "list" for my ADRs but now I think we're gonna have to go. I love that they have an outdoor area. Did you have to request it or was that where they sat you? If I went, I'd want to sit out there!

I would not be offended at all if you lurked on the Pre TR. I often do that as well. They are not as exciting, but it's good to know the background and plaing that go into the big trip:)

Neverland looked awsome!!!! I absolutely have to go for the flower festival one year. It looks breathtaking.

That Tink bath is great! It's amazing how so many people say that everything in the parks is so expensive, but in reality you can find a lot of stuff that is not nearly as expensive at it should be. Disney could charge a lot more for some of the things that they sell.

Your view at the Rose and Crown looked great. That is one of the places I didn't make PSR's for this time around, but really want to try (guess I"m just going ot have to go back...darn...lol)

My DF and I are not big drinkers, but while on vacation we tend to drink a whole lot (why not live it up?). I was just wondering since I have never really drank at Disney, how much the average drink is there.

Dawn I love that Tink birdbath. Do they ship things home for you too? We're flying the next time down, I couldn't possibly put that on a plane with me. Sorry about the foul odor on the monorail. My DH can't smell either :confused3 he had a deviated septum and had it fixed and still can't smell. Does the Rose n' Crown have a kids menu, I would love to go get me some fish and chips there too. That bread looked really yummy too. Is the butterfly thing only at the Flower and Garden? That would be really cool to go in. I want to do a butterfly garden at my house any suggestions on which is best? I love the flower and garden though, only been there once (in 2001). I love all the toparies. Great update and glad you didn't have a heart attack because Ray wanted to go to Epcot again.

SOOO Glad Ray discovered the true joy that is EPCOT !!!:drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 Black & tan is my DH all time favorite too.
BTW - I think we must live close to each other since you're in GA too and it takes us about the same amount of driving time to get to WDW.
Lynn

EPCOT is awesome. I am so glad Ray has the "bug". Did he really finish all of that flight? If so, how did you get him out of EPCOT?

LOVE your birdie bath. I think I saw a picture of it in your butterfly garden somewhere earlier...? Very Cool!

Really you guys are Soarin Fans? It is one of my favorite rides. I love the take off, the orange groves and the fireworks. I wouldn't stand in a 40 minute line for TT, unless promised to my ds and the only option is the stand by line (can you tell, I have had to do that one before?)

Looking forward to what else you get Ray to intake in the other counties. :thumbsup2

BTW...was your drink minty at all with the creme de menthe?

Awww, that's sad Brooke is packing up! I really hope they had a good time!

I love the body shop and didn't know they did girl parties!!!

the party was really fun! you should look into doing one.

:( Packing up to leave is always the worst. It sounds like Brooke and Jon had a great time though... talk them into doing a trip report! :lmao: We got the short version and now we want to hear about the whole thing!

i will try my best!

What a great phone call from Brooke! I agree with you abou how much fun it is to hear from others while at Disney!!
Thanks for the update:goodvibes

when i heard "you are about to descend," i got soooooo excited!!!

that is funny she called you from TOT. all you would hear from me is laughing. that is all I do on there.

sad they r leaving already.

i scream on ToT but if i called someone while riding primeval whirl, space mountain or BTMRR, they would just hear me giggling.

Well, it's pretty clear why Ray wanted to go to Epcot. :lmao: :lmao:

ya think????

great update and pics.

that is funny what came out for the beer after all the beer he had.

your drink looked delicious.

The fish looked smaller than the one I had. mine was long.

ray loves his beer. you can't really tell in that pic, but there are 2 pieces of fish there. so i think it depends on what they have back in the kitchen, but i have seen pictures of the long pieces you're talking about.

What beautiful pictures!! The bird bath looks great outside your window!
I about fell out of ny chair when the picture of all those beers come up:lmao:
Your smiles are so awesome in the pictures!!:goodvibes

thanks......what a sweet thing to say!

i'll have to remember rose and crown for DH next time we go to WDW...he loves beer samplers...though I wonder if you can just get them at the bar also? We did not dine there because the menu looked like something I would not eat as I am a very picky eater and he wanted resturants on our last trip that had more steak selections. We did go to the bar at rose and crown quite a few times during our trip as DH is also a guiness beer fan. I just got wine there since I am only a miller lite beer fan and do not drink the heavy beer.

i'm sure if you go in you can get them at the bar. i doubt you can get them at that little bar they have outside, but i'm sure the inside bar wouldn't be a problem.

Great update. I really have to plan a trip during the Flower and Garden festival sometime, it looks so pretty then, even more so then usual.

it was beautiful!

I love, love, love the Tink bird bath!!!!

Hmm, I know exactly why Ray wanted to go to Epcot!!! :rotfl:

yeah, he had an alterior motive! :lmao:

So sad that Brooke and Jon are leaving today! Bummer about the crowds :(.

Great update! I love the Tink bird bath!

Rose and Crown looks really good and fun! That may end up on next trip's list! And I will definitely need to sample one of those Welsh Dragons!

Too funny about Ray and the beer flight!

thanks! the welsh dragon was good but they have better drinks at WS. it's fun to sample them all! :rotfl:

I love Epcot during the Flower and Garden Festival. It's so pretty and amazing seeing how Disney imagineers and gardners create those statues with plants and flowers. I absolutely love the Butterfly house. I took my DD there for her first visit to Epcot and she got to hold butterflies on her little finger. It was the cutest. (I know you don't have kids, but you get the pic);)
So, did Ray drink all of those beers? or did he just taste? We don't drink at all, but I've seen some of the drinks that you've had and they look yummy. How did Ray do with walking the WS after those drinks? hehe

he drank all the beers but he did leave a little in the glass on a few of them. the beer flight were half-sized beers, like 6 ounces. but ray can hold his beer so he was fine!

Knew there was a reason I loved Rose n' Crown!

 :thumbsup2

Great update! I am now considering squeezing in Rose and Crown in December since I love fried fish and that looked yummy!! Plus the water view was awesome! :thumbsup2

the water view was very nice! we didn't even ask for it - we were just sat out there. i don't know how it would be in the summer b/c i was sitting right in the sun. but in december it would be fine! and ray loved his fried fish!

Oh My goodness! I love seeing the kidless/chaos-less versions of Epcot. Your's is fabulous thus far!

I dig the Tink bird bath too. Hmmmm....

And I've never been to Rose and Crown (I KNOW!).

I just can't imagine sitting outside like that without having to chase 3 kids (or worse) SOMEDAY for sure! :cool2:

Loved the butter balls...

And loved the update! :teeth:

they were little replicas of SE!

What a darling bird bath! I want one for my garden to go with the tink windchime we bought!

What a great view for lunch... and I love the pictures of the flowers and things at EPCOT!

i love the topiaries at epcot......theyr'e so cool! i can't imagine how much work goes into them.

looks like i found a reason to have lunch at rose and crown when we go to epcot.

i could not really tell fromt he picture, were they about half beer sizes?

yes, they were half-sized, about 6 ounces each. have fun!!!

Can't wait to hear how the rest of the afternoon went Did Ray require many pitstops? :rotfl2:

you'll just have to wait and see.......popcorn::

Love the update.....I don't think my DH would be walking after all that beer! We would have had to put him in the stroller instead of DD :lmao: .

ray was okay to walk......but a stroller does sound like a good idea! :rotfl:

I was wondering also - whenever I've had the fish & chips, it's one really, really long piece. Did they change this?

i don't think they changed it. ray had 2 pieces of smaller fish instead of one long one. i think it depends on what they have available. but i've seen pics since we've gotten back of the one long piece of fish. i'm glad you're keeping count of the drinks b/c i certainly didn't!

Great update! :thumbsup2 I love the tink bird bath.

Wow!! Did Ray finish all of his drinks? :)
BTW~Your drink looked really good.

he finished most of them. he did leave a little bit of beer in a few of those glasses, but for the most part he finished.

Can't wait for more! :yay:

you guys sound like me and ray. i swear i took like 20 pictures of toys in the japanese store when we went to epcot before narcoosee's earlier in the vacation. he hardly ever asks for anything so when he wants me to take a picture of something i can't argue with him!

Ok, well i "thought" that I would take R&C off my "list" for my ADRs but now I think we're gonna have to go. I love that they have an outdoor area. Did you have to request it or was that where they sat you? If I went, I'd want to sit out there!

we didn't request the outdoor seating but i'm sure you can. i think we just got lucky!

there's so much that disney offers - it's easy to have an excuse to go back!!! that's why i love it so much. and yes, i was shocked at the price for the bird bath. i expected it to be at least $50, so i was happy! the average drink at disney usually runs a little bit more than in the real world, but they're not unbelievabily outrageous or anything. the most expensive drink i've had is the lapu lapu and it's $12. but it's worth every penny! the slushies in france are $8. i think the premium beers at WS are somewhere around $7. not sure how much the domestic beer is. and the margaritas are $8.50. hope that helps!

i'm not sure if they ship things or not, but i can't imagine that they wouldn't. just ask your CM when you check in at the hotel.

here is the rose and crown kids menu: http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_rck.htm

i think the butterfly garden is only offered during the flower and garden festival. in my butterfly garden i have a butterfly bush, lavendar, rosemary, all kinds of lilies, verbana, purple coneflower and mary janes. i'm not sure about your climate but those all attract butterflies (and bees!).

Lynn

yeah, he enjoyed himself that day. he hated epcot last year - we just had a bad vibe going and needed to get the heck outta there! but this year was MUCH better!

i live just west of athens, near I-85. i come to marietta every now and then for depositions. i was just there about a month ago and was looking forward to having lunch at the marietta diner, but our deposition went longer than i had thought and i couldn't go because i wanted to get on the interstate before traffic started!

Txs for the TR

okay.......you got me with that one. i have no idea what that means!

EPCOT is awesome. I am so glad Ray has the "bug". Did he really finish all of that flight? If so, how did you get him out of EPCOT?

he didn't finish every drop and left a little bit in a few of the beers, but he did an admirable job!

LOVE your birdie bath. I think I saw a picture of it in your butterfly garden somewhere earlier...? Very Cool!

yes, i think i posted it earlier in the background with pics of my lilies.

Really you guys are Soarin Fans? It is one of my favorite rides. I love the take off, the orange groves and the fireworks. I wouldn't stand in a 40 minute line for TT, unless promised to my ds and the only option is the stand by line (can you tell, I have had to do that one before?)

we're not bitter about standing in line for 40 minutes for TT, are we??? :rolleyes1 yeah, i know we're strange, we just didn't like soarin. we didn't dislike it......just didn't see what all the fuss was about.

Looking forward to what else you get Ray to intake in the other counties. :thumbsup2

stay tuned!!!!!! popcorn::

BTW...was your drink minty at all with the creme de menthe?

nope, it was more fruity. it was good! not the best drink i had on the trip, but pretty tasty!

:cool2:

well, i guess we should live it up while we can, huh? if our plans go like we want, the next time we will be back after our december trip we will have a young one in tow. but if your kids behave anything like they did at ohana, they're angels! i'm serious - they were so good!

Depending on the timing, you were IN R&C while we were OUTSIDE R&C watchng one of the street shows. Two trips ago, we had an ADR for R&C and hoped to be able to see Illuminations from one of the balconies. I asked if we could sit out on the patio. We waited for what seemed like hours. I approached the check in counter to see if we had been called. They said we were called several times. The buzzer never went off. In 5 minutes they had us seated - yeah you guessed it - out on the patio with the best seats ever for Illuminations. Unfortunately, both cameras (video and photo) had dead batteries after a full day at WS.

Enjoying your trip so far.

The flower and garden festival looks so pretty! I'd love to go then, but I'm a teacher, so it will probably never happen. I'm glad you were able to enjoy Epoct. Cute top you had on that day!

Love that Tink birdbath!

Your shirt is so cute in these pics.

Sounds like Ray had an awesome time in Epcot. The beer flight looks SOOO good! It sounds like your lunch was so nice and relaxing.

I found your trip report and read it through today. I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed it! The picture of your DH with the beer flight was hilarious!! I live in Georgia too (and have also never seen a peach tree LOL!). I'm figuring you must be about an hour south of me as it takes us about 8 hours to get to Disney (we're in Rome). Anyway, we will be in Disney for free dining in September (2-11). I am so excited and already counting down the days now! I need to get working on a pre-trip report...maybe one of these days I will.

i will let you guys know if brooke decides to do a TR. if she doesn't, i will get her permission to post pics of their trip on here for you guys to enjoy!

I hope she does do a TR....I would love to hear their stories!!!! :thumbsup2

i loved these flowers!

I bet you could fit in the little girls size princess:

when our server returned with this, he almost fell out of his chair!!!!
DSC04713.jpg

I noticed you weren't counting Ray's drinks :rotfl:

Rose and Crown looks VERY nice.....I didn't really think much about it before but that might be one I have to add to my list!

so some of you asked......

i noticed our shadows as we were walking along in fantasyland and i thought this would be a cool picture. i love it!!!!!! :thumbsup2

we passed by that darn sword that nobody can seem to pull from the stone and i decided to give it a go. ray tried last year with no luck. i didn't seem to have the magic touch, either.

finally, the show started! again, i just LOVE this show. :cloud9:
