Our Land and Sea Vacation 3/21-27 Update 7/5 P.16 The last night

And then we get the “the monorail is having issues announcement”.

You know how we've discussed our favorite sounds of Disney in the past? This is the opposite.

:woohoo::cool1::banana:

Another victory picture. Sis wanted us to take these for a boy at her pre-school so she can show how brave she is.

Glad to see I'm not in the only family that does this.

Behold the backside of Walter

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Again I failed to max the score out. In fact I did worse than my first try, but I did score higher than mom, and that’s what really matters

::yes::

While walking out the balloon man let me snap this picture.
DSC_2491-1.jpg

That's a cool shot! :thumbsup2

I hear ya.

Can't wait to see the Dream!

Too funny to see the pictures of sis so upset one minute on BTMMR and then hands up and excited loving the ride :goodvibes

I have tried the vibrams before for my running...and I just couldn't get past how funny they feel on :rotfl: I'm sure they draw a lot of attention too!!

I've read about them... they look comfortable but I've got to have some good padding for the arch and heel... I'm guessing they lack in that area?
The have very minimal padding, if any at all.

:scared1::eek::scared1: She's already trying to impress the boys??? Looks like you've got a long 14 years or so ahead of you.
Yup. I am already not looking forward to the teenage years.

Enough said! :lmao::rotfl2:
Well now I know why there isn't ever a line for that ride.

Priceless...
I feel the same way when I have to leave.
I think that pic really sums up the its time to leave emotion.

Another enjoyable update, and as always, great pictures!:thumbsup2
Thanks. I'm really looking forward to sharing all the Dream pictures that's why I crammed so much into this past update.

Too funny to see the pictures of sis so upset one minute on BTMMR and then hands up and excited loving the ride :goodvibes
When I read her that section from the TR. She said "Dad I was only doing that cause the ride was over!"

I have tried the vibrams before for my running...and I just couldn't get past how funny they feel on :rotfl: I'm sure they draw a lot of attention too!!
I got them for running too. They were supposed to help me transition to more a midfoot/forefoot strike. They girl I was talking to in line about them had been advised by her running coach to get them for the same reason.

You know how we've discussed our favorite sounds of Disney in the past? This is the opposite.
Yeah and we got to hear similar announcements on Splash Mountain and Stitches Great Adventure. Its a good thing we didn't stay for the Parade, we could have caused the floats to burn down and that would have bothered Stopher.

Glad to see I'm not in the only family that does this.
I think we need to start doing for things that aren't rides. Hurray! Shopping!, Hurray DoleWhip!, Hurray FastPass Machine!

That's a cool shot! :thumbsup2

I was actually on the ground trying to shoot up at the balloons. I had hoped to get them in a round cluster, but the wind blew them so they were at an angle. Everytime I put the camera down the wind stopped, and when I would try and adjust and get things in focus it would blow again. Just another way this day was magical.

But have you ever been able to spend the night in that camp? Enjoy the inner workings of your camp? And see how your camp is built and operates?

No - you had to go home (or back to your resort). I on the other hand have been able to enjoy my camp overnight, backstage, and watch how it all works. I've even been able to step inside of the great big old dragon from the Pete's Dragon sequence of my prized parade, and twirl inside of one of the bugs from the Alice in Wonderland sequence. Take that nemesis!

:sad1: <sniff>
Told you all he was the evil one.

You know those days when it seems to be raining fairy dust. You walk on every ride, you find a secret character meet and greet with tons of characters or strangers give you their Le Cellier ADR?
YES! MAN, THOSE DAYS ARE AWESOME!
Well this is most definitely not going to be one of those days.
Oh. Bummer.

DSC_2222.jpg

You've got a pretty determined walk for a dude with a pink backpack.
Almost every major league baseball team designates one member of the bullpen (usually a rookie) to carry a pink backpack full of snacks out to the bullpen before a game. Of course, the minimum salary for Major League Baseball players in 2011 is $414,000. So at least they have that going for them.

Bro even scored a little kiss.
Sweet. I'll be he bragged about to all of his friends when he go back home. :thumbsup2
It was a fun ride and I got to talk with some people in line about my shoes. Vibram Five Fingers. Yeah I’m not above using my shoes as a cry for attention.
The local news just had a piece about a local firefighter running the Boston Marathon in full Firefighter gear. Except he wasn't wearing boots - he had those Five Finger thingys. That just looked plain weird with firefighter gear.

How do you like them? Do they provide any benefits over regular running/walking shoes? (Besides conversation starters, that is)

A couple minutes later we were on the ride and for about 30 or 45 seconds everything went great. Then the ride stopped… and it stayed stopped for about 20 minutes. Finally they fixed the ride and we rode a little bit until it stopped again. I think the ride broke down about 4 or 5 times while we rode it but only 3 of them were for more than a minute. All told our short ride took close to 40 minutes. Both kids actually enjoyed the ride when it was moving and had it not been for all the issues I think they would have ridden it again. As it stands their view of it is a little tainted.
Wow, was it awkward being half way down that 50' plunge and coming to a full stop like that?
(I apologize if that is a recycled joke. I don't recall if anyone else used it on your FB post or not.)
Another victory picture. Sis wanted us to take these for a boy at her pre-school so she can show how brave she is.
:thumbsup2

After that we rode the jungle cruise. It was great, and as always I was excited to see the backside of water. Mom thinks I’m strange for always wanting to take a picture of that.
Come on, mom. You can't see the backside of water just anywhere!

Behold the backside of Walter
:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

We headed over to Space Ranger spin one last time. Here was my chance to redeem myself. Again I failed to max the score out. In fact I did worse than my first try, but I did score higher than mom, and that’s what really matters
My wife beats me all the time on this game. But I always use the excuse that which ever kid I was riding with kept spinning the car and preventing me from hitting the targets.

After a couple minutes they fixed the harnesses and the show started and then it ended and we left. If you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all.
Wow, that's one of the most glowingly positive reviews I've ever read about that ride. :confused3

Either I set the exposure wrong or Bro is about to be abducted by aliens.
Where can you even buy SPF 7,500 sunscreen?

While walking out the balloon man let me snap this picture.
Cool balloon picture!

This ends the WDW portion of the Trip Report

My daughter hates it when she tries to pout like that, then I strum her bottom lip like a guitar string - usually to a happy, upbeat tune. :thumbsup2

Loved the update and I can't wait to read about the Dream!

What a great day! I laughed, I cried, I loved this update!

Is it wrong that seeing the picture of this sad little face just makes me smile? She's just too cute!

She's got a pretty good sad face. I'm just hoping she doesn't keep practicing it all the way up to her teenage years. I don't think I'll be able to afford it.

Oh. Bummer.
Yeah that sums it up best
BTW.. welcome back, your dreams were your ticket out.

Almost every major league baseball team designates one member of the bullpen (usually a rookie) to carry a pink backpack full of snacks out to the bullpen before a game. Of course, the minimum salary for Major League Baseball players in 2011 is $414,000. So at least they have that going for them.
I think I paid for the opportunity to carry the backpack so it's close.

Sweet. I'll be he bragged about to all of his friends when he go back home. :thumbsup2
He hasn't yet. Maybe I need to make him t-shirt to wear to school.

(Besides conversation starters, that is)
They're awesome. It's like being barefoot only with shoes on. One Sis is a Personal Trainer and one is a Physical Therapist. Personal trainer sis is not sold on them, physical therapist sis is and she wears them too.

Wow, was it awkward being half way down that 50' plunge and coming to a full stop like that?

(I apologize if that is a recycled joke. I don't recall if anyone else used it on your FB post or not.)
:thumbsup2
:lmao: don't remember it being used on FB. The kids were actually worried about people being stuck on the hill when we were stuck. We assured them that even if the rode broke gravity would still work.

Come on, mom. You can't see the backside of water just anywhere!
Some people just don't recognize quality humor.

My wife beats me all the time on this game. But I always use the excuse that which ever kid I was riding with kept spinning the car and preventing me from hitting the targets.
[\QUOTE]
:thumbsup2 a good excuse can be a dads best friend.

Wow, that's one of the most glowingly positive reviews I've ever read about that ride. :confused3
On an episode of Betamouse they were talking about technology in Tomorrowland and one of the guests brought up Stitches Great Escape. He then had to go back and explain the only reason he rides it is to test "Ultimate Touring Plans" so for him its an occupational hazard.

Where can you even buy SPF 7,500 sunscreen?
It is Tomorrowland, Disney has prepared for future global warming and stocks it in the gift shop near Space Mountain. Be forewarned SPF 7500 is basically covering yourself in playdoh.

My daughter hates it when she tries to pout like that, then I strum her bottom lip like a guitar string - usually to a happy, upbeat tune. :thumbsup2
That's awesome, bet it makes it hard for her to keep pouting.

We spent Wednesday night in the Country Inn and Suites in Port Canaveral so that had a free spot to park during the cruise and so that it would be an easy trip to the boat in the morning. We were all super excited for the cruise so we were up early for breakfast. We could see the boat from the hotel.
DSC_2518.jpg

Of course the dream is pretty big so this pic may have been taken from Orlando.

By 9:30 we were outside of the hotel waiting for our shuttle to the boat. I was surprised by the number of people already waiting for the bus. Mom used the time take some pictures of the kids.

DSC_2520.jpg

In an effort to directly contradict myself, here is a picture that obviously mom did not take.

We had arranged everything months ahead of time so we had our seats reserved on the 10 am bus and we were in the 10 am boarding group too. We been reading stories of people getting there early in the morning and still being in Boarding Group 10, so we really weren’t sure what to expect. We arrived at the terminal by 10:05 and were through security in a couple of minutes. We headed up the escalator and got our first view of the terminal.

DSC_2556.jpg

DSC_2558.jpg

There were only 10 or so families in line to check in before us. We wound up getting boarding group 3. Hurray! We then hurried and got in line to register our kids for the kids club. Disney needs to rent those "GPS locators you strap to the kids" at the parks. That an a "track my kid" app would certainly cut down on lost kids. The line seemed long when we got in it but it only took about 15 minutes or so. Later that morning the line was or 3 times as long. All check in stuff done we found a spot to sit and relax and wait for boarding time.

DSC_0009.jpg

Apparently the "stay off your device" rule doesn’t apply to family members.

While we were waiting Mickey walked infront of the model ship and we hurried and got in line to get our picture taken.
DSC_2571.jpg

The Pook’s took this opportunity to plan their remake of Speed 2: Cruise Control.
DSC_2574.jpg

Hmmm “We’re gonna need a bigger boat”

We waited a little bit more and soon it was time to board. We got our picture taken and a few seconds later we were being announced as we walked on board. I tried to think of a funny name for them to announce but blanked. (Please show me how creative you are by putting awesome names in the comments) That didn’t matter though, because we were immediately blown away by the atrium.

DSC_2581.jpg

After a solid 10 or 15 seconds of awe we realized atrium was just a fancy word for lobby and, it was time for lunch. Our options were either the Enchanted Garden or Cabanas. We tried the Enchanted Garden first, but there was already a long line to check in. We took the elevator to deck 10 and walked to Cabanas. On the walk we got to see the pools, the Aquaduck and this random dude.
DSC_2584.jpg

Cabanas was a great choice. We grabbed a table by the window and then head off in search of food.
DSC_2590.jpg

Huzzah! We found food.

It was amazing. While there was tons of food, the salmon wrapped in prosciutto (mmm fancy Bacon) and the peel and eat shrimp were my favorites. I did have a bunch of the crab claws but the meat was really tough.
DSC_0012.jpg

DSC_2593.jpg

Every dining room should have that view. Yes that is my mmmmm shrimp! face.

We finished at Cabanas and there was still about an hour before our room would be ready so we decided to explore the boat. The kids really wanted to see the Oceaneer Club and Lab so we headed that way. The kids had seen information on the clubs online, but even knowing what to expect we were gobsmacked.

Before you go into the clubs you need to wash your hands. Most places would have foaming hand sanitizer or a sink, but this is a Disney boat so even hand washing must be awesome. They had these “automatic car washes” only awesomer for your hands. I’m sure lots of people are going to tell me that these are passé and they have them at their schools or church but I had never seen anything like it (even in Japan where they have remote control toilets). So here you go hand washing pictures. Yes, this is an entire paragraph on how awesome it is to wash your hands on the Dream.

DSC_2626.jpg

The Oceaneer Club was really neat. Sis had a blast playing in Andy’s room and I may have wound up playing with the Giant Mr Potato head.

DSC_2613.jpg

DSC_2616.jpg

DSC_2610.jpg

When we got to the fairy art section Sis was in heaven. We could have left her there for the rest of the trip.
DSC_2622.jpg

We continued on though to the Lab. Bros’s eyes nearly bugged out of his head looking at all the different screens and different types of games.
DSC_2628.jpg

DSC_2637.jpg

At one point there may have been several dads all in a line playing the ship simulator.
DSC_2632.jpg

Hey we love our kids and want to make sure that it gets the Dad seal o’ approval. Mom had fun playing the music simulator game.
DSC_2641.jpg

Mom is the DJ Jazzy Jeff to my Fresh Prince. ( Back when Jeff got bigger billing)

Eventually we knew our room was ready so we had to drag the kids out of there.

We meandered back to our room. While we were meandering we literally ran into Chip and Dale. (We may meander quicker than most) Mom almost knocked Dale over. It didn’t seem to bother Dale much as he quickly grabbed mom for a kiss. (little known fact: Chipmunk kissing makes you jaundiced)

DSC_0021.jpg

Hey watch it buddy she’s married. I was lucky we didn’t bump into Flynn Rider, there’s no way I could have competed with that, he’s got Superhuman good looks and a frying pan.

The kids also got some quality hugs from Chip.
DSC_0026.jpg

Fortunately I was carrying my camera (a hand me down from mom) so I could snap a couple shots while this was all going down. Sweet a character meet and great and I there wasn’t a line. This spontaneous character interaction was one of the best parts of the cruise

One our way back to our room we ducked into the Buena Vista Theatre. It was empty so the kids took the opportunity to get up on stage, and then perform a little dance routine for us.

We left the theater and continued to our room. (I know your thinking how long does it take you to get to your room). As we rounded the corner to get in the elevator who should we find but Sailor Pluto. (Disney your messing with my head, first Goofy is an anthropomorphic dog and Pluto is a dog dog, but now the dog dog is dressing up. That’s messed up)
DSC_0041.jpg

This is the last picture we snapped and you can see a crowd had started to form. We left Pluto and finally made it to our room.

DSC_2668.jpg

Coming up Swimming, the Sail Away Party, dinner at the royal palace and a show.

Wow I am amazed by the ship already...must get on Disney Dream asap!

I am highly impressed by the hand washing machine on the ship :thumbsup2 I think it was very worthy of its own paragraph!

Of course the dream is pretty big so this pic may have been taken from Orlando.

Or maybe a satellite?

While we were waiting Mickey walked infront of the model ship and we hurried and got in line to get our picture taken.

Good job. That model is way cool. I remember staring at it for quite a while. Of course, I had nothing else to do.

The Pook’s took this opportunity to plan their remake of Speed 2: Cruise Control.

Why would anyone want to remake that movie? It's perfect the way it is!

I tried to think of a funny name for them to announce but blanked. (Please show me how creative you are by putting awesome names in the comments)

Heinie, first name Seymour.

Every dining room should have that view. Yes that is my mmmmm shrimp! face.

You like parking garages, huh? And that looks more like a lemon face.

The kids had seen information on the clubs online, but even knowing what to expect we were gobsmacked.

The clubs looks amazing! They were fun on the Disney Wonder, but this is way, way above what was even on that ship.

Nope, that's a first for me too. And I will second your vote on their awesomeness. :worship:

I was lucky we didn’t bump into Flynn Rider, there’s no way I could have competed with that, he’s got Superhuman good looks and a frying pan.

Not to mention the "smolder".

Your room looks pretty sweet! We also had a porthole room on the Wonder, but I think yours looks like it has a little more room.

In an effort to directly contradict myself, here is a picture that obviously mom did not take.
I don't know...most moms have superhuman powers. I wouldn't be surprised if she pressed the shutter button, ran into the picture, smiled, then got back in time to grab the camera before it fell.

Apparently the "stay off your device" rule doesn’t apply to family members.
Where they texting each other?

The Pook’s took this opportunity to plan their remake of Speed 2: Cruise Control.

Hmmm “We’re gonna need a bigger boat”
Ummm...wrong movie, dude.

(Please show me how creative you are by putting awesome names in the comments)
Sorry, all of mine will get me booted off of the DIS and your TR shut down.

We finished at Cabanas and there was still about an hour before our room would be ready so we decided to explore the boat. The kids really wanted to see the Oceaneer Club and Lab so we headed that way. The kids had seen information on the clubs online, but even knowing what to expect we were gobsmacked.
Those look awesome! My kids will love them in October!

I too have never seen hand washers like this. I am intrigued...

Great update! I can't wait to hear more about the cruise!

Hey! What about the shirts that I spent TWO days making????

I better do my best to avoid Chip & Dale from now on....Jaundice is not a good look for me!

great pics trike!!! looks like everyone is having a great time!:thumbsup2
Thanks. It was a blast.

Wow I am amazed by the ship already...must get on Disney Dream asap!

I am highly impressed by the hand washing machine on the ship :thumbsup2 I think it was very worthy of its own paragraph!
The ship was amazing. Everywhere you went there were cool things like thats.

Or maybe a satellite?
In port we were parked next to a Carnival boat. It was strange looking down on another boat.

Good job. That model is way cool. I remember staring at it for quite a while. Of course, I had nothing else to do.
That model was a great way to kill some time. I wish they had models of all the ships so that you could compare them.

Why would anyone want to remake that movie? It's perfect the way it is!
:rotfl::lmao:

Heinie, first name Seymour.
Something tells me Mom would have been unhappy if that was the name she had in her video.

You like parking garages, huh? And that looks more like a lemon face.
Parking garages rock. I'd much rather have one of those than the small garage I have now. I had debating putting a better picture of the view in the TR but I was worried I might hit the 25 PP pic limit.

Not to mention the "smolder".
Yeah there's no way I could touch that.

Your room looks pretty sweet! We also had a porthole room on the Wonder, but I think yours looks like it has a little more room.
The kids were bummed we didn't have one of the beds that descended from the ceiling, but the room was awesome. In the few minutes we had in the room sitting on the porthole window bench was great.

I don't know...most moms have superhuman powers. I wouldn't be surprised if she pressed the shutter button, ran into the picture, smiled, then got back in time to grab the camera before it fell.
Mom's superhuman speed ability is limited to texting. She's also superhumanly good at putting up with me.

Where they texting each other?
Nah texting is old school. They were tweeting each other.

Ummm...wrong movie, dude.
Yeah I know I mixed movies. Do you know any Speed 2 quotes off the top of your head?

Sorry, all of mine will get me booted off of the DIS and your TR shut down.
What if you wisper them?

Those look awesome! My kids will love them in October!
They will.

I too have never seen hand washers like this. I am intrigued...
They'd probably work great on feet too. Kind of like getting a pedicure. You should try. If anyone bothers you about just tell them I said it was okay.

Hey! What about the shirts that I spent TWO days making????

I better do my best to avoid Chip & Dale from now on....Jaundice is not a good look for me!

Dear Trip Report people. Mom made the shirts we are wearing. Mine is too small. People did not laugh when they said "Wow Tie Dyed Mickey shirts" and I responded, "They're not tie dyed, I'm just really bad at laundry"

Disney needs to rent those "GPS locators you strap to the kids" at the parks. That an a "track my kid" app would certainly cut down on lost kids.
That's a great idea. In fact that might be a good thing to put on some of the adults I've traveled with from time to time too.
Notice I said adults, not my wife so I can't get in trouble.:thumbsup2:rotfl:

Hmmm “We’re gonna need a bigger boat”
Good luck finding one!:lmao:

(Please show me how creative you are by putting awesome names in the comments)
:confused3 I've got nothing. This update is starting to make me think about that boat song that Andy Samberg and T-Pain did though... I guess you could have done something about your flippie floppies. :confused3 :lmao:

After a solid 10 or 15 seconds of awe we realized atrium was just a fancy word for lobby and, it was time for lunch.
I'm glad you had your priorities in line! :thumbsup2

So here you go hand washing pictures. Yes, this is an entire paragraph on how awesome it is to wash your hands on the Dream.
Hey, you know all the DIS Dads reading this are gonna be fascinated by it!

When we got to the fairy art section Sis was in heaven. We could have left her there for the rest of the trip.
Until they get curious about this little girl hanging out by herself and track you down using her GPS and ID info.... nice try though.:rotfl2:

At one point there may have been several dads all in a line playing the ship simulator.

Hey we love our kids and want to make sure that it gets the Dad seal o’ approval.
It's not an easy job, but somebody's gotta do it.:rolleyes1

This spontaneous character interaction was one of the best parts of the cruise
That's pretty cool that you just bump into them wandering around the ship... kind of like it used to be in the parks back in the day.

(I know your thinking how long does it take you to get to your room).
Well, that picture of the map earlier explained a lot of it.

That's a great idea. In fact that might be a good thing to put on some of the adults I've traveled with from time to time too.
Notice I said adults, not my wife so I can't get in trouble.:thumbsup2:rotfl:
It's strange I never get lost (I always no where I am) but there are a lot of times where the whole rest of my family seems to get "lost" together without me.:confused3

:confused3 I've got nothing. This update is starting to make me think about that boat song that Andy Samberg and T-Pain did though... I guess you could have done something about your flippie floppies. :confused3 :lmao:
That song may be referenced later in this trip report.

I'm glad you had your priorities in line! :thumbsup2
Marble floors and elevators are nice, but there was food waiting to be eaten.

Hey, you know all the DIS Dads reading this are gonna be fascinated by it!
It was a marvel of engineering.

Until they get curious about this little girl hanging out by herself and track you down using her GPS and ID info.... nice try though.:rotfl2:
The clubs were open till the we hours of the morning. It would have been like 2am before it was time to go get her.

That's pretty cool that you just bump into them wandering around the ship... kind of like it used to be in the parks back in the day.
2 different meets in the span of about 30 minutes was unusual. But the spontaneous interaction was great. It makes me really wish that they did this more in the parks, even if it was with less popular characters.

Well, that picture of the map earlier explained a lot of it.
All that walking was "exercise". It meant we needed to eat more at meals.:thumbsup2
