DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning, Gents! Very long time no chat, I know, but took a break. It's been a while, so let me start somewhere. Back in June my DW, DD and DMiL went to Ireland for two weeks. I stayed home to look after both my house and my DMiL's house, staying at her house because I was also watching her dog. I was to watch our dog as well but we had to put him down due to old age and not being able to get around anymore. Man that was hard. Anyways, while over at my DMiL's house I tripped and started having back spasms. Man that hurt. Of course I had no one at home to help so I called a friend, who wound up calling 911 because I couldn't get out of the house I hurt so bad. Work is work. I've auditioned for, and got into, two shows at a local theater company, Evita and Newsies. In Evita I'm in the ensemble and having a blast. Unfortunately my arthritis has quickly made me realize that I can no longer do the dancing, so I've had to bow out of at least one song. I'm still in a couple, but the choreography is fairly easy, so no worries. In Newsies I'm playing Joseph Newsies, the main antagonist. Man, I'm going to have fun with this role. I scared everyone last night at the first read through, so this is going to be fun. Evita opens next month and Newsies opens the end of November. I'm sure there's more, but that's all for now. Have a good day, everyone.

Sorry to hear that. No, it's never easy.

ouch.
Been there. I've always said that a back is just poor design.

Good for you! :)

Hey, Guys!

Trying to stop by more often to say hey. Not much else to report. Still waiting on work to make the move and officially offer me the surgical coordinator position. Apparently I'm supposed to shadow the manager today, so maybe it will happen soon.

No it isn't easy. I was surprised at how hard that was. It took some time, but I can now come downstairs in the morning and not look for our dog sleeping in the corner.

ouch.

Sucks, doesn't it? You don't realize what the back brings to table until you've done something to it.

Good for you! :)

Thanks

Sounds like a good sign. Good luck!

Oh I realize. I’ve thrown it out too often, (as recently as last month) not to.

Hello there gentlemen,

I'm back from a week in WDW and very, very excited to be back in the office which of course is why I'm logging onto the DIS.

We really had a great week. The place is much more expensive and due to the monetized Lightning Lane system, you can't get on nearly as many rides in a day as you used to be able to. But despite that, we were able to ride everything we wanted to do using the standby lines (and often multiple times). Mid-August seemed to be a good time to go as crowds didn't seem too bad. For the big-ticket rides, wait times in standby averaged around 25-30 minutes for us. Had a lot of great meals via the dining plan and we really liked being able to use the Skyliner at the Caribbean Beach resort.

Do you get the ROI that you used to? Absolutely not. Can you still have a good vacation? Yes.

Welcome back??

Good to hear! Although I saw your posts on IG and it certainly looked like it from there.

Huh! I'm surprised by that. Much shorter than I'd have guessed.
