CFW incentives improved overnight

Would it make sense to buy a favorite week and "trade" out almost every year? I don't really want a whole week even if it's my favorite week. I rather get 2 cabins at the same time so I can invite friends or family, and just go for 3 days or so.

There's really no downside to doing this, but if you don't foresee ever needing that dedicated week - why bother and just buy straight points. If you just buy points it'll save you having to call into member services every year to opt out of the favorite week.

You could. I have a FW at a different resort; it is mostly a hedge against future difficulty in booking.

Be aware allowing your FW to be booked may mean you will not be able to bank the point difference between normal booking points and FW points. (More information thread)

The whole "quick let's make the incentives even better not long after the cycle started" thing is fascinating to me.... but I also think it just won't make a significant difference in selling points at CFW. The basic challenges of that resort still exist and $5 more off a point are probably not enough to broaden the appeal to typical DVC buyers.

What CFW needs for points to sell is subsidized dues down to $8.xx per point. That’s about the only thing that would stir a bit of interest.

Points only need to come down to $9xx a point,

But they also need to fix:

1. The local pool is mid and was not improved, just thrown into DVC. Add to it and add Towels
2. Golf carts should be included or at least offered for an extra 2 points a night.
3. Needs additional room types ( LSL ) Poly should have been proof of that.

I understand what you mean, but as someone who loves CFW and so keen on buying there, I don't want anything else to make the MF go up more than it is. To try to turn camping into a deluxe experience defeats the purpose of camping. Most campers are not camping because they can't afford anything more deluxe. They pay more to be inconvenienced, but enjoy a certain lifestyle/experience.

The main reason for purchasing CFW is because I want to bring my dog. I am quite sure most of the CFW buyers have a similar motive. We are willing to pay a certain amount more to have the pleasure of bringing fido. Already willing to pay the extra pet fee on top of higher MF. Rent a golf cart or go without. Dragging laundry to the comfort stations, no problem as long as my dog can come. Sure, having nicer pools and added perks are nice but what holds me back is runaway MF, trying to turn a moderate resort into a deluxe. I believe that can be found at CCV with those cabins checking off all the deluxe boxes.

I'm neutral on adding to LSL. On one hand, that should keep MF down, but that would put more competition for certain super special days at the Fort. There would be more people trying to book just halloween/christmas eve who would otherwise have no interest staying at the Fort. Heck, I can even see people staying at LSL, try to book a cabin concurrently on those nights just to be able to rent a golf cart and participate in the activities, while staying in their deluxe comfort of LSL. If CFW is kept separate, at least owners would have a decent chance at booking highly coveted days/weeks just competing among other CFW owners.

Do note if you buy a favorite week, the formula is points required to book a week's stay in that season, plus 10% overhead to cover DVC's administrative burden.

The best value is to buy the last favorite week of the season.

I bought week 39 at BPK. This year most of my week fell in the October season rather than the September season, so it actually took 10 more points to book my room than I bought. I did not have to pay for those 10 points nor am I paying maintenance on them. If I cancel my favorite week reservation, I don't get to use those 10 points of course.

This is 100% us as well. We don't want/need deluxe amenities at the Fort. We enjoy it for what it is and the type of vacation it provides. I hope that a) it's not combined with LL and b) that they can somehow get the dues under control.
