Our 2nd Trip in 3 Years. This Time, She's In On It (Dec 2012) CP Narrator Update 9/13

I'll probably be aiming for the 9th (#1) or the 11th (#2). We get in on the 7th, but if that works out best for our plans or if nothing else is available, we'll do the 7th (#3).

And if you don't want to do a whole CP, I hear tales of people who hang outside the pavillion and take in the carols and narrations at their leisure. So on your EPCOT day/night, you'd be able to catch the gospel group sing their carols, hear the CP carols, take in the story tellers from around the world, the tree lighting and, of course, Illuminations.

True, I think that is what we will do. Just enjoy part of it from the back of the crowd. This is on the must do list in a few years. Curious to see who will be narrating when we are there.

Re: MVMCP, I am torn. If we do go, I am also torn (haha) between the 11th (AP discount day) and 14th. The first one, we get a discount. The 2nd date would be our last night and a fun way to end our trip. But, I have no idea if we would even notice a difference in crowd level with a discounted vs. non AP discounted night in the middle of the week. hmmm

Ok, so I'm caught up!! Yay for the engagement...congrats!!! :thumbsup2

Our trip dates are very close.....we're just staying longer (and we'll be neighbors at the Port Orleans!!! :goodvibes

So you had June 8th as your ADR day but I was given June 10th as the day from Disney & my Travel Agent. :confused3

I'm looking forward to the party!!! :hyper:

It's been a long time since my last post. And in that time, I had a dental appointment. By dental appointment, I mean it was pulling teeth when I had a sit-down with the in-laws to try to get direct answers (I don't think they liked the experince too much). So, there we were. Myself, BDLsgal, LIL and SIL, and I started pressing for answers. Now, bear in mind, I gave the in-laws the 2012 edition of the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World well over 2 months ago, in the hopes that they would go through it and brainstorm. Right now, it has dust on it and the spine has never been bent.

I started to list through some of the restaurants. Who can eat what and at what time. And sure enough, "Whatever you choose will be fine." That has been the canned answer so far. BUT!!!!! I finally got a definitive answer. I said that I would like to book the family style BBQ at WCC. And FINALLY, I get, "Ehh... I really don't like BBQ." HALLELUJAH!!!!! A real answer. So we sat and discussed. I mentioned that there were menu items and the theme. So, through the art of dialog, we were able to reach an accord  . And the flood gates opened after that. SIL would prefer character meals with the characters in costumes as opposed to princesses. Good, progress. Both her and LIL do not like spicy but do like sushi. We are moving now... :cool1: I even got an ear or 2 to perk up when I mentioned "Drinking Around the World."

After I got as much as I could about the eating arrangements, we moved on to rides. BDLsgal and LIL will not go on Soarin' (BDLsgal didn't like the ride and LIL hates heights). SIL is cool with most of the thrill rides. She is not down with TOT and is on the fence with RnR. Everyone was interested in revisiting the traumatic Space Mtn from their trip when the girls were young (side note: Is there anyone that wasn't strangled/choked, either by the seat belt or by a parent when they rode Space Mtn in the 1980's?). And we are all on board for trying to get on the safari at AK. Any water related rides we will play by ear. Depending on weather and temperature.

From there, we moved onto special events. We all agreed on MVMCP (date TBD), Candlelight Processional (waiting til the narrator list is released), a night of the Osbourne Lights and checking out the decorations at different resorts. I have a feeling there will be another dental appointment as I try to get answers about whether or not to budget time for Fantasmic (in-laws had no idea what it was :headache: ). We will take time to listen to some of the story tellers at the World Showcase and at least 1/2 a day at DTD and a meal at Raglan Road.

As I start coordinating, I'll start creating our wish/nix list. Til then, pass the novacaine.

The calendar is up! HERE :cool1::santa:

It is amazing what kind of domino effect a little snippet of information can set in motion. First, I FINALLY got some deep info from the in-laws and now the EMH has been released. Thanks ses1230.

So now I can start to formulate a plan.

We arrive in Orlando late afternoon/early night 12/6 and stay at an offsite motel for the night.

12/7- Friday - Wake up early, check-out, check-in to the POR (hopefully rooms will be ready early like last time), take some time to "Oooooh" and "Ahhhhh" the Royal Guest Room. Head to EPCOT (this may be the date that we shoot for the CP). Enjoy EPCOT, story tellers, dinner, (hopefully) CP, Illuminations and then EMH (namely Mission: Space and newly refurb'ed Test Track).

12/8- Saturday - This will prob be our AK or MGM day (or a combo of the 2). If we can secure Tusker House breakfast, pre-opening, it will be an AK morning. Get FP for the safari. Ride EE and Kali River Rapids and Dinosaur. Transit to MGM. Take in the rides and shows we can (arriving in the afternoon on a Saturday). Osbourne Lights.

12/9- Sunday - If everything is going according to the plan above, this would be a our resort decoration/MVMCP day. Hopefully breakfast at Kona Cafe and then riding the monorail and checking out the resorts. In the afternoon, MVMCP and all its glory.

The rest of the vacation will all depend on what we can accomplish these days. There will be a DTD day and at least 1 more EPCOT day.

Those plans sound excellent!
And so glad your in-laws are finally cooperating! But, I have to ask, what is a LIL? I cannot think of a relative that starts with L!

LIL is BDLsgal's mom. The story behind her name is in the cast of characters on page 2. Its a funny story.

Just got another bit of good news. Looks like they will be taping the Disney Christmas day parade the week before we arrive. I was not looking forward to being dictated when I could or couldn't go to the Magic Kingdom, just because of my aversion to re-take after re-take after re-take.

That is good news, but I figured it would be earlier (I actually thought more in November vs December dates). It would be kinda cool to say we were there and to watch it on Christmas to see if we can see ourselves in the crowd....but with that said......I don't like big crowds!! :crazy2:

Testing out the photo feature with a pic of BDL from our last trip....this one made me laugh when I was taking it!

I like this one. Santa leans over to BDLsgal and says "I bet I know what you want for Christmas." Guess Santa does know all.

actually he asked what i wanted and i told him that sadly it wasn't anything he could give me. That's when he said he knew what i wanted and turned to bdl as he said it. It was priceless :)

awesome!!

After searching and scrounging and PM'ing moderators, I finally found the December 2012 cancelled ADR thread while I was actually seaching for something else. I'll be posting this on the 1st page, but for those following along, here's the link. Bon apetit:

Hey, I just realized......we're at the 200 day mark too!!!!! :cool1:

So we have a lot of the same restaurant picks. On your MUST DO's, the only 2 we aren't doing is Raglan Road and Tutto Italia. I keep hearing Raglan Road come up a lot and italian food is so-so with us. One of the twins LOVES spaghetti, but since she's allergic to wheat she can't have it....so it would be hard to eat it in front of her. (we use a corn/rice pasta for her).

On your LIKE TO DO's, we're doing all of them except Teppan Edo & Rose and Crown......but I believe both of them are my back up plans for the Candlelight Processional Dining Package if we can't get the Coral Reef.

This is getting pretty exciting cause we're less than 3 weeks away from making ADR's!!!!!! Then it will feel real that we're going!! :goodvibes
