booked at 11 months and got this view. 1st room off elevators to the right down hall 1st room on left# 3069 1 bed also got 3071 studio next door and also got next studio # 3073. . What luck all three rooms had this view. Tried to change but they were booked solid:lmao: Could not even sit out in the morning for coffee without everybody checking out and using airline check in standing right there. Wasn't a lot of noise in the mornings but it wasn't quiet either. We had a 2 yr old with us but he slept through it OK.
The manager said they don't know when a member books time wise and just assigned the rooms when they can.
My biggest gripe is that last yr we got the same view on the 4th fl.
We just seem to be getting the same rooms since 2002. I wonder if a lot of these rooms are just fake rooms with doors that don't open .:rotfl2:

Anybody else keep getting the same area of rooms?

That is poor! You would think that booking 11 months out would get some sort of priority. I didn't even realize BWV had such a bad view. We've stayed in a 1BR standard many times and I never realized how lucky we were not to get stuck with that view. We've had rooms all over, a few times farthest from the elevator (5001, I think) when I always request 'near elevators' since it can be quite a hike after a full day of touring. I might have to consider dropping that request because you, obviously, were as close as you can get to those elevators.

How soon before check-in day do they assign rooms? I haven't used online check-in yet because I've read that there is no place to write in a request.

Did you have any requests? Unfortunately, I don't think DVC currently has a request priority based on when you make the reservation.

My last few trips have been boardwalk view and I have been all over the place. I always request top floor and typically get 3 or 4.

I haven't stayed standard view for awhile but when I did I always requested top floor, across from the bus stop. I always ended up towards the middle or end of the hall, I did not want to get the area you got.

BOOO!!! i'd be coughing up a few more points a night to stay in a garden/pool or Boardwalk view!! thats horrible for booking at 11 month!

I agree, I am a balcony dweller and have been tempted to book a standard view room and always talk myself out of it! Hanging on my balcony is a big part of the vacation for me so I need some sort of view even if it is garden/pool.

I sympathize. I had a Preferred View and requested Village Green and still was directly outside of a maintenance entrance where they rolled huge linen bins in and out at all hours. If we sat on the patio, there were CMs walking in and out almost constantly. This was also at 11 months out.

Now, the view was not the issue. Maybe there should be a noise category!;)

I did request 4 th or 5th fl at 11 months. We booked standard because we took my side of the family down. Besides this room I also had another studio down the hall and booked 2 campsites at FW for RVs. 16 people all together.
If it was just DW and I we do BWview a lot.

I sympathize with you, a terrible view! :sad2: I always heard that hotels just assign you whatever they have available when you check in. I don't think the time you make the reservation (11 months) matters. Did you check in later on in the day or in the evening?

I assume you also requested the rooms be close together, which is likely your downfall. Unfortunately, DVC puts no effort into priorities for unit assignment. In the earlier days they did to a degree. OTOH, someone has to get those rooms, might as well be you or I.

We have stayed in that area before...The view stinks but it is a close walk to the elevator (a plus on a weary night after hoofing it around the parks all day)

Unfortunately, that is the chance you take when you book a standard view. Someone has to get that view...it was just your turn this time.

I've had it too, not often, but a few times. Walking isn't easy for me, I make no requests, but about the same number of times, I've gotten a room all the way down the hallway, and those standard views have a great view. In my years of owning at BWV I've almost never gotten a "middle of the hall" view!

That's awful! I think the noise would bother me even more- I'm a VERY light sleeper and would not want to be anywhere near all that traffic.---Kathy

It really can be frustrating when you get rooms that don't suit your needs.

Unfortunately, when you book and put in your request has no impact on getting them.

This is one of the reasons why allowing requests is a double edged sword for Disney. If they started allowing requests to be met based on when they are added, then they become more than just a request.

However, if they don't allow them at all, then they prevent being able to give guests something that is to their liking and in some cases, you have people who may want different things and by allowing the requests, even when not guaranteed, might work out.

Hopefully, one of these times, you will get rooms that are better for you. Just keep requesting and keep hoping and one of these years, it will work out!!!

I booked VWL at 11 months and requested oen of the atrium 2-br villas. Got the dreaded dumpster view.

Ah...one of the many reasons I don't like BWV. The real solution to this is to not stay there.:rotfl: I can honestly say I've never had a view THAT bad at OKW.

All I can say is ...... Wow!

I am so sorry to see those pictures. I hope your stay was better then your view.

I've had a view at OKW *almost* as bad. We were right on the corner unit on the bus route. It was so noisy, we couldn't even open the door and when we did sit outside we were "front and center" for everyone who drove by. It was awful! It made me wish for one of those overgrown vegetation "views" prevalent at OKW.

OP, I'm sorry you got that view. I always look at those room and shudder a little. My friends had that room once but all the way on the top floor. They liked it because they could see the lake over the rooftops ... a kind of cheapie, modified BW view ;). Perhaps the next time you book a Standard View you can ask to be near the quiet pool. That will move you down the hall a bit.
