I'm not too amused that I live in the Midlands now, I'm a Yorkshire girl still at heart. But I must admit I do like being able to get to London and Leeds in around the same time. And we always call in at Blue Water when I visit my SIL down south, but I miss shopping in Leeds. Milton Keynes is quite good though which is only an hour away.
I think it does stick with you where you were born and raised - cant help it.

I was born in greenwich and lived in london till I went to Uni, then my mum and dad moved out into the country (surrey, lol.) Now I'm a suburban girl, which is much better for my future kids, was getting pretty rough where i grew up.

ALthough lots of south london is going up in the world at the moment.

The dome has done a lot of good round those parts.

Surely you mean:

"Aye, t'whippet is 'ere tha noo"

My northern accent is like well good! Innit guv!

Don't get me started on the accent issues!! When Robert first came to meet me (Having never heard me speak before) he kept giggling saying: "You've got a proper Northern Geordie voice!" (Which I haven't- Don't make me begin my rant about how everyone from the Northumberland/Tyneside area isn't automatically a Geordie!!)..... He still does it!! He knows it drives me up the wall which is half the reason he does it....!!

Having said that, I'm no better..... I totally take the mick out of his Barnsley accent!! When I first went down there I thought it was a whole new language!!

I'm the same, I have uni friends all over the country and visit all over quite often. I would live elsewhere but my friends and family etc are up here, and in my line of work I get paid more and there are more job opportunities up here. But if the right job came up I would move as long as I could sustain the same lifetyle/size of house that I own now :)
Bet you have an ACE accent though!

Like cheryl cole? I could listen to her all day! I talk like Stacey Slater!

Nah Cheryl Cole is a lot more geordie than me shes from inner city Newcastle while I am soft Northumberland lassie like Bob!

I think I am becoming more geordie though as I now live quite central

Did you ever come and see him jump on Market day?? Thats one of my most vivid childhood memories!

Bob xoxoxox

I did see him ... I can't remember much though. Didnt he swim off with some dolphin friends eventually?

When I did my teaching practice in Barnsley I understood the kids very well. My friend from Birmingham though I had to translate for. He didn't understand the kids and they didn't understand him!!

Now I live where there are lots of Scottish folkes (there is a Rangers club house at the end of my road and daily bus services to Glasgow!) When I 1st started here my LSA had to translate for me at parents evenings!!

"Ey up luv aa tha lekkin aut?"

Translation- Hi love, are you going out?

"As tha gor owt t' gy us?"

Translations- Have you got anything to give me?

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head tonight!!

I'm going to post this before I show Robert though as he will more than likely have a strop!!

Please nobody take offence if you're from Barnsley- I'm only having a laugh and lets face it, when I'm in Baaaaaaaaaaaaarnsley you all do the same to me!

A, E and I all seem to sound the same!

Erm, I'll let you think that. It's happier than what actually happened to poor Freddie.... :sad2:

Bob xoxoxox

Haha, thanks bob! I actually know exactly the accent you mean!

Is my dads generic 'northern' accent! Lol.

My whole mums family is scottish so we all enjoy slipping into that quite frequently!

Anywho, jack has just claimed some bed back so im might be off to bed soonish. the cat, laptop and i are now less than perfectly comfortable!

If I recall he did actually mate with another dolphin so there's probably a nice little family of Freddies somewhere of the North coast....

I'm not joking there, btw, I'm sure he did!

Bob xoxoxox

I love the Geordie accent

Sadly, Robert finds it an endless source of humour....!!

Actually, on our first date the one thing he found funnier than my accent was the fact I have Jimmy Nail songs on my Ipod... So everything that made him laugh was Northern related!
