Just to clarify, I have no problem with requiring her to take a drug test. The problem is the time frame and that they did not give us the proper information as to the hours of testing.
DD rode her bike the the interview and even asked the manager if it was OK to lock it up on the sidewalk outside of the door. She told the manager that she did not have her license but would have no problem getting to work on her bike because we live less than 1/2 mile from the store.
Our state has really gotten tough on new drivers. They have to drive 50 hours (10 of which must be at night) on their permit before they can even get their license. We live in an area that has everything so it takes A LOT of 10 minute trips to add up. It's not unusual for a 17yo not to have a license.
DD did go to the lab during the hours listed on the paperwork but was not allowed to take the test because they cut off drug testing at 4:30 but will do other testing until 5:00.
I did call the store because DD was upset . She was also working last night teaching swim lessons from 5:30 until 8:45pm. Had we waited until DD was able to call, the 48 hours would have passed. She doesn't get out of school until 2:10pm. I was hoping that she would be able to go to a hospital or another lab. Her interview was at 1:00 on Sunday and they said that she needed to have the test done by 1:00 on Tuesday so Monday was really the only day that would fit into their requirement.
Regardless, she has a few interviews set up with Borders, Pet's Mart, Michaels, Carters, Party City and Pier One. I'm sure that one of these will work out.
