My brother bought tickets for he and my parents to go to Europe this summer. He found a great rate on delta.com for about $600 each. He was going to buy them online, but then figured he'd check for a phone rate. He found he was able to get a lower fare for a child that's traveling with them, so he bought over the phone.

Today he got the confirmation in the mail and it says his credit card was charged $1800 per person. He called Delta and they said he was wrong, that the low fare never existed. They are wrong, though. I saw it online with my own eyes.

What recourse does he have. HELP!

If he didn't print the fare page he found online, not much. He can contest it from the cc company, but without proof the fare was posted at the time he called, there isn't much the CC company can do, either. Best bet without proof is to just change the fare to the best thing he can find now, and eat the change fees. Depending on where he's going, there may be much better fares on other carriers. Summer is never cheap to Europe, though; upward of $800 pp is going to be the best he will get unless someone has a serious sale. Generally going through London is the cheapest way. BTW, you can still book the child fare on the phone if the other fares are booked online.

What happens when he looks up the confirmation numbers online? Does it show the fare paid? Probably not, but he should still check.
