Osbourne Lights NOT showing this year

Princess Vija - I keep coming back to this thread also and hoping for some good news! This has been really bothering me. I'm upset there will be no lights, but I am even more upset at Disney's apparent attempt to hide the news.

I am disappointed as well, but there is so much to see and do at Disney during the holidays - this is just part of it. We'll miss it, but I know we'll have a great time anyways. I'm hoping that MGM will have a partial display up - they are going to have to do something during the holidays to keep the attendance numbers up...

Add me to that list of the disappointed! I have really been looking forward to this, as it will be our 1st trip during the Christmas season. And, probably my dh's last...

I know there are still a ton of other things to see and do, but this DOES stink!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Yup - sure does:(

Just trying to look at the bright side :D Christmas at WDW is magical - I can't wait to be there again.

I've been trying to email that address in a previous thread, and it says it's undeliverable.

Well I have finally had a reply from Disney which says:-

Thank you for your e-mail to the Walt Disney World® Resort.

We appreciate the time you took to contact us. We wanted to let you know that we have received your message and are reviewing it. If you will provide us with your phone number and an indication of the best time to reach you as a reply to this message, one of our representatives will contact you directly within the next few weeks.

Sincerely,

Executive Offices
Walt Disney World® Resort

I don't think it looks good, but who can say.

I live in the UK what do you think the chances are of someone actually phoning me?

Wendy

Wendy L - I think the chances of WDW calling are very good. I have found they will typically follow up e-mail complaints with a phone call. Let us know what is said when you get the call!

Just wanted to share with those interested the response I received. Kathy J

"Thank you for contacting WALT DISNEY WORLD!

Currently, the Osborne Light Festival at MGM Studios has not been announced as
a future 2003 Holiday activity for Disney's MGM Studios. We are actively
trying to receive confirmation on this event, however, we have been
unsuccessful thus far."<<<

I have just e-mailed too. Probably won't do any good but I'm interested to see what response I get.

I am so disappointed about this. I've been to WDW 9 times - 10th trip in July. This year is to be my first Christmas over there and I probably won't get to go at that time again for a long time. To travel 1000's of miles on a 12 hour flight (well 2 flights actually but the total is about 12 lol) only to find possible demolition and wasted space in the studios is not what I am paying LOTS of money for.

I'll post again if and when I get a response.

Louise

We're in the same position as Miss Mickey Mania regarding flight times and everything. This year was our first (and possibly only) December trip. I specifically scheduled December to see all the special Christmas stuff. Wouldn't you know.

This is a shame. We have gone for quick weekends the last two years and done all the holiday stuff. I would recommend the lights as the best "free" alternative (as opposed to MVMCP which is fun, but costs $$). I was toying with a trip this year as I have 2 weeks off for the first time in years and we are cruising in 2004 instead of WDW, but I think I'll wait now.

Well, you won't be missing all of the special Christmas stuff. Just perhaps the Osborne lights...but there is much more to see at WDW during Christmas.:D

Wendy L, did you ever give WDW your phone# and did they call you?
i also got an email reply from them asking for a phone number so someone can contact me.
i didn't get around to getting back to WDW yet 'cause i'm so busy i don't have time to take a call from them during the daytime.
but i'm curious what type of responses Disney has when they actually call someone.

also, btw, if anyone is interested, there has been an update about the Car Stunt Show on this website:
http://www.wdwmagic.com/disney.htm

looks like everyone is very confused about whether WDW is actually scheduling renovations/construction on Residential Street this year.
i wonder if enough of us complained that they're considering suspending the renovation, and still putting on the Osborne Lights this year after all.
heh. one can wish... ;)

btw, for those of you having trouble with the above posted email address, the correct email address for WDW is:

WDW.Guest.Communications@disneyworld.com

A couple of CM's told me a couple weeks ago that the lights would be "different" this year. They were looking into other ways to use them. He wouldn't elaborate but, maybe they are going to use them all over the park??????

I think the lights have become too big of a tradition for them to not have them in some shape or another...

No Disneyberry I have not heard from them. I e-mailed my phone number and the best time to call but as yet I have heard nothing. I don't know how long they take.
