Do you think one could do the Liki Tiki Village without a car? How hard/expensive would it be to do taxis back and forth to the parks? I don't drive so renting a car isn't an option. It will be me and my seven year old DS.

Our style of touring is parks in the morning, back to the hotel after lunch to hang out at the pool, and then sometimes head back to WDW or someplace else for dinner.

I love the idea of having a kitchen, and of having the waterpark there (if last summer is anything to go by we'll spend as much time at the pool as at the parks). I also figure that even if I spend a bunch on taxis, I'll still save relative to renting a villa at WDW and buying waterpark admission (which I figure we shouldn't need with the Liki Tiki waterpark), or relative to renting a hotel room and paying for 3 meals a day.

Also, do you think I could get a taxi to take us to Cocoa Beach and back for a couple of days?

Thanks!

First of all, if you are staying on Disney property, you still get their bus system, between parks and hotels and they connect to other Disney locations. However, if you plan on doing Sea World and Universal Studios, you may take the LYNX Public Transportation. You have to take the bus on the Transportation and Ticket Center or Monorail Station.

how many of you are there?

if 4 or less - I would recommend OKW renting a DVC member points.
Now summer is expensive 11 points so $110 per night. this rate is only for Sun - thurs - fri/sat is more expensive.

if you can't drive staying offsite is just not a good ideal.

you can stay in Jan, Sept, Oct - most of Dec and Nov - for $80 a night - not including Christmas week, or Wed, thur, fri of Thanksgiving.

Liki Tiki Village is about 10 miles (closer to OL) from WDW. so that can be around $20 (might be more or less) plus a tip so say $22 * 4 = $88 per day...

stay at OKW in a studio - you will have kitchennett - so you can still save on meal costs.

you won't have the extra space. (unless you go for a 1 or 2 bedroom which I don't recommend on a budget). but you will have WDW transportation. Plus these days WDW is taking you back and forth to the airport (for FREE) until the end of Sept. I don't know what the charge will be after that.

so if you can't drive and want to see WDW - I would stay at WDW.

most of the pools at Disney are so nice, you don't need to visit a water park.

I wouldn't stay offsite and depend on the shuttles to get you back and forth for breaks and such. Many of those shuttles don't have the greatest schedules to allow for this sort of thing. The cost of taxi's would add up so quick you'd be better off paying to stay onsite.
