Orlando Smackdown: Dis vs. Uni. Ch.16 Japan Hates me, Just Hates me 7-13

Welcome back,
Your Disney dreams were your ticket out
Welcome back
To that same old trip report that you laughed about

Well the inmates ran the joint since you made it out
But the theme has remained since you hung around
Who'd have thought you'd come back
With no injuries to talk about... (I hope)

OK, so maybe rewriting songs isn't my forte but - Welcome back Nebo! Can't wait for the reporting to begin.

Ok, Jill, Marie, Ponz all the other readers out there.
First, me talk, then I wanna hear from you.

I love Disaster movies/BOOKS, but it's been a while since the heyday back in the 70's.

As yoiu all well know, I loved Lucifer's Hammer, and alos liked Poseidon Adventure, Towering INferno, Swarm, another disaster movie named Slide, about just that, a mud slide entrapping a supermarket. But I need new blood, and for once , preferably not my own, so please please, give me your faves I may have overlooked, Okey Dokey?
What? So far, nothing?

Try out Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness. The first book is "The Knife of Never Letting Go" is about Todd, Viola, and Manchee, Todd's dog, race to safety across a newly colonized world. On this world, men's thoughts are readable by everyone. Women's thoughts are not. Todd found out something curious and his uncles tell him to leave town before everyone finds out what he knows.

On second thought, don't read it, it's too scary. Every time they get somewhere that looks safe, it's not. A real pageturner.

Great song! :thumbsup2

Welcome back, Nebo & Smidgy!! Let the hilarity continue. :happytv:

Hey Poe, careful where you swing that pendulum!!
Obviously, I'm not among the younger set. :rolleyes1

Yes, Ed's "Pit and the Swingy Thing" was a classic. Now, to make things a tad more current, withOUT using a search engine, tell me what movie also had a main character named "Poe".
First correct answer wins nothing.

Glad to have you back, safe and sound, on your own TR.

Can't wait to hear more!!:)

Well, it will still take me a while to get things up and running, starting with going through the mem card and deleting all the icky pickies and then upping them into a new P-Bucket account.

What is "peachy creamy"?

Did I say that? Your guest is as good as Mayan.

NEBO!!!!!

BBBBUZZ!!!

I hope your trip was terrific and I can't wait to hear/read all the details! ;)

Me too, can't wait to see what Ponzi has for us.

Hey Ponz, you may as well continue, it will be a while before I get on my own three feet to write a new chapter, I just spent the day going through mail and writing out checks for frivolous things like mortgage and water, and mucho more bill glop.

WELCOME BACK!!! I cannot wait to hear about your trip. I hope it was awesome. :goodvibes

Hewwo, nice to see you again Kath!

Congratulations to you on finishing your Masters degree program! Those oral boards sound really rough.

Is Oral Boards related to Oral Roberts?
And since when did they allow women to join in at Augusta?

(yes, that was the epitome of obscurity, but I'd like to see a woman out there explain the lame joke instead of a guy, who will probably know immediately from which I speaketh of. Heck, even Ponzi might get it, or Thumperman.

Thanks Monica and what a cool coincidence that your girls had the same outfit! Ours is a hand me down from older DD.

no, not coincidence, I believe the proper phrasing is "Coinky Dink".

Thanks so much! I'm a bit partial, I know, but she really is a beauty! ;)

Sustained!

Alright you two, let's not turn this into a "Fight Club" scenario! You know what the rules of Fight Club are, right? ;)

Yes, Edward Norton gives an Oscar winning character portrayal in absolutely SAVING what is othewise a kind of crappy movie turning it now into a cult classic and Brad Pitt gets all the credit, totally undeserved if you compare the two performances.

Page 12 already - sheesh - I walk too slow. But tyvm for holding my corner. ;)

Hi Lisa. You say I was holding your "corner"?
And you liked it?
Normally I get slapped for things like that.
Even though I have no idea what it was I was holding though, but I'll be happy to do it again.
Wait, hold it. Stop the presses. QUIET!

Didn't your avatar always say Ontario, or someplace else up in the great white North? And now it says Monicaland?
Am I losing it or are you trying to Gaslight me?

As always, looking forward to sitting back and reading your TR. :surfweb:

Hear that Ponzi? Get cracking, you have my reputation to keep up.

OH NO!!! We can't do that - I'm quite sure Nebo can't walk and do a live report on an iPad at the same time. I see red everywhere! :rotfl:

Did it also spell out REDRUM?

Ohh, now I have a taste for a Strawberry Daquiri!

This is great news Jill! I love anticipating a great read. DH and I are recording the HBO series, but I want to read the books first.

Yup, that's always my MO too, I want to read the book first, THEN see the movie. Never the other way around.

I can't wait to read the books! :thumbsup2

Are we still talking about the Thong show ?

So today in the history of number one songs yup, Kung Foo Fighting, back in 1974!

Ah, I am so glad and pleased to see that your superheated knowledge from your advanced education is now finally paying dividends! Who knows what's next? You could be just a few thinks from rattling off all the Sweathogs names that Mr. Kotter so patiently and lovingly tutored.

Hmmm.... I haven't read anything lately that hasn't been a re-read of stuff that wouldn't make the cut. I'll have to think on that some more.

Ok, how about now?

How about now?

Now?

One of my favorite books from the last few years is "The Summons" by John Grisham! It's not a blood and guts book, but it's quite humorous! Have you read Jurasic Park? I thought the book was pretty good.

Steph, yeah man, loved Yourasshashadit Park. i've read most of Mike Crichton, and I also like mony, was sad when he passed away rather suddenly. Haven't read Grisham in a long time, but I don't recall him ever being humorous.
I just finished an old Robin Cook book that was laughably bad. Only it translated into Frustrating. I cannot figure out how in the world he was EVER a number one author. He lucked out with Coma, I guess, and that was all it took. anyway, the book I read is called Mindbend, you know, actually, I'd like to hear somebody else's opinion on it, so everybody go and read it.

Welcome back Nebo and Smidgy. I hope that your
trip was healthy and injury free. I am the crazed
fanatic that accosted you at the Boardwalk
boat dock on Thursday Nov. 29. I am Diane from
Chicago.

Well Hi Diane, of course I remember you, you scared the crap out of me that night!
kidding!

From my post count you can see that I very rarely post,
but I enjoy reading trip reports and lurking on the DIS.
My trips generally center
around seeing the Christmas decorations and
taking the drawing classes at DHS. My trips are
usually relaxing and don't contain anything
exciting. But this trip was different and the
excitement started after we met you.

On the Thursday afternoon that we met you, my
family (Janet, Cathy, Sue and I) was on the
boat coming to the Boardwalk from EPCOT and
you were waiting for the boat to DHS. While
getting off of the boat, I noticed a man that
looked like Nebo talking to a woman that looked
like Smidgy,

Really? I never saw them. That would have been cool to meet,,,,oh,,,,,never mind,,,, sorry.
so I took a chance and mustered
up the courage to introduce myself to you. It
was a great thrill to meet both of you. It
was the highlight of my trip.

(throwing up yet Ponzi?)

However, each of the 4 members of my family
had Nebo-esque experiences during the 2
remaining days of our trip.
The first experience we call "getting mugged by a
Chipmunk." On Friday, we had reservations at the
Garden Grille as part of our Candlelight Processional
package. We really enjoyed our dinner and the
character interactions until near the end of
the meal when Chip decided to "help" Sue with her
Coke and managed to spill all of it all over
her. The wait staff brought out a lot of
paper towels but Sue had a very wet viewing
of the Processional.

Lady Di, we were at the same Candlelight Show as you,,,well, ok, if you were at the first show on that Friday.

The second experience we call "getting
infected by the mouse." After a week of
walking too far, eating too much, and
sleeping too little, both Janet and I came
down with very nasty respiratory infections.
We are both still coughing and wheezing a
lot.

Yes, I can hear it a little bit even now.
This is where my mom would make me a grilled cheese, bowl of chicken noodle soup and a teaspoon of honey and then send me off to the couch.
I loved being sick back then!

But the most exciting experience happened to
Cathy. we call it
"I can't go to the emergency room, I have
lunch reservations in EPCOT."

Oh, this is gonna be good, I just know it!

Since Saturday
was our last day at the parks, in the morning
we went in separate directions and were
supposed to meet in EPCOT in Germany at 2 PM.
Cathy went to MK and was walking along Main
Street while they were filming the Christmas
parade. Somehow she tripped over a curb and
fell onto the pavement. The production
manager of the parade saw her and immediately
got helpers to assist Cathy. They asked her
if she wanted to go to the emergency room
but she thought that she only sprained her
elbow and wanted to meet us for our lunch
date. The MK staff secured a wheelchair for
her at EPCOT. Cathy called Janet to meet
her at the monorail outside EPCOT. Janet
wheeled Cathy to Germany and bought her a
scarf to use as a sling. We had our lunch,
returned to our hotel, and on Sunday we flew
home. However, the swelling in Cathy's arm
was not getting any better. On Monday I took
her to her doctor and they discovered that
she had broken her humerus bone and the it
was dislocated from the joint. On Wednesday
she had surgery to set the bone and put 2
pins in it. To top it off, when going through
our mail, we found an ad for a tee shirt
picturing a broken bone and the caption "So
you think this is Humerus". That shirt will be one of
Cathy's Christmas presents.

Great story Lady Di. I hope her arm is on the mend, and I hope you will join our lovingly disfuntional group from now on.

I feel like I've been recruiting.

Me too! Lets plan a trip to WDW!

Yeah, I've always wanted to go there.
What about Tim and Diane?

Welcome back! Sorry you guys did not hear about the dragon there are clips on Disney Parks blog and you tube. Glad you made it home safe and sound.

Welcome Back!! Can't wait to hear about the trip. As you've read, your readers were kept greatly entertained while you we're away.

As a female reader, your comment about Mony making it to Augusta was referring to the Master's golf tournament, held in early April each year. And I believe they finally voted to allow women in after the tournament this year. I'm sure the women in the area are too smart to want to join. Have I lost my girl card for getting the joke?

Also, wanted to say congrats to Mony! And Buzz, the Bat is beautiful. My oldest used to do that move too. So look out for some crazy times if she's anything like him. And I loved the "Welcome Back" song!

"Maybe rewriting songs isn't my forte"... I totally disagree. I thought it was great! I was singing along in my head right away.

Nope. The King is back, long write the King.

Ok, how about now?

Now?

No.

(throwing up yet Ponzi?)

Nah. Just gagging a bit.

Vinny Bobarino, Arnold Horshack, Epstein, Washington......something like that......I had to ask an expert, Tim.

I remember watching John Travolta and a teacher in a tan blazer.

and horshack who raised his hand and sounded like he was in pain.

Hey Steve and Diane,

Glad you are back safe and sound (although if Steve came back "sound" that would be something, seeing as he probably didn't leave in exactly that condition. Disney can do great things for people). As for the Augusta National Golf Club, Condoleeza Rice was one of the two women invited to join this year. I can't remember the other one. The only other fact I can remember about Augusta without Googling is that the President a few years back was named "Hootie". They kept quoting him in the news because that was the year the President of NOW or some-such organization kept threatening to chain herself to the front gate, or something like that.

And while we are waiting for Nebo - Ponzi - Can you post another entry, please? I have really gotten into your "Life of Walter Mitty"-esque report about Nebo's trip.

Well.... Nebo did ask me to, and now you have too.

I wasn't planning on any more installments (why settle for my poor imitations when the real thing will be posted soon?) but I will if I get any more requests.

How's that?

Ok Ponzi, have at it!!!

I am on my way to a filming for Kitchen Nightmares. I am a Gordon Ramsay fan AND a reality TV fan (yes I admit it) AND in the restaurant biz so I am really excited about this!! Not as excited as I am to read a new installment to this TR, wether by Nebo or Ponzi, but I am excited!!!

I thin k it is what you get when all the easy peasy lemon squeezie has run out

dang, you're good!

As a female reader, your comment about Mony making it to Augusta was referring to the Master's golf tournament, held in early April each year. And I believe they finally voted to allow women in after the tournament this year. I'm sure the women in the area are too smart to want to join. Have I lost my girl card for getting the joke?

Nope, just shows you are an informed reader. I was never really a golfer in my early days, it wasn't until 12 years ago that I kinda got into it, but even then I couldn't follow the ball, I had to hit the ball and ask my buddy Kurt where it went then. Now? It would be impossible to even try. Can I redo a line from a previous trip report?
One time not too long after my company went under and I was home all the time, getting in Diane's way, when she was home too, she asked my why I don't go golfing with Kurt more often now that we are both not working.

I responded with;
"Diane, would you like to go out and compete in a sporting contest with somebody who, not only doesn't take a turn buying when the beer cart comes along, or buy a round at the "19th Hole", but who also lies about how many strokes he takes, moves the ball to a better spot, takes way too long for every shot and just basically is a cheater?"

"Well, no." she responded kind of shocked to hear this.

"Well, neither does he!"

Also, wanted to say congrats to Mony! And Buzz, the Bat is beautiful. My oldest used to do that move too. So look out for some crazy times if she's anything like him. And I loved the "Welcome Back" song!

And let's not forget Nurse Ratched, Barb, who also is to be conflatulated.

"Maybe rewriting songs isn't my forte"... I totally disagree. I thought it was great! I was singing along in my head right away.

Has your head ever got up and walked out on you?

Hmmm.... "Woah oh oh ooooohhhhh".

Allright, the subject is Poe. Now, I know that you can be as obscure as I, but I don't think we are on the same page here, looks to me like you are doing Kung Foo Fighting, I can not only NOT find a Poe connection, it most certainly isn't the one I'm looking for. But this bad movie DID have some great actors in it, with some really great movie quote lines.

Here's one, a HUGE hint:
"Allright, nobody move, or the bunny get's it!"

Nope. The King is back, long write the King.

No.

Ok, I'm asking in all sincerety. I'm no where near ready to start posting chapters. These people are counting on us.
What if I give you half the returns?
Ok, half the returns, and Thursdays off?
I'll even throw in unlimited Frosty Malts!

Nah. Just gagging a bit.

Vinny Bobarino, Arnold Horshack, Epstein, Washington......something like that......I had to ask an expert, Tim.

Ya, real close, Juan Epstein, and Boom Boom Washington. There was one recurring girl but fI can't name her.

And Kotter's wife, Marcia Strassman had a recurring role in early MASH days. But even though she was in two hit comedies, she was never allowed to say something funny. First Alan Alda wouldn't allow it. Then she was only in Kotter so Gabe Kaplan could tell his lame stories to, and be forced to laugh at them.

Hmm, kind of like Ruby and Smidgy!:rotfl:
Except Smidgy isn't listening anymore.
She just asked me if I made up my mind whether to tell everybody about the concussion I got hitting my head outside of Rose and Crown on the last trip.

and horshack who raised his hand and sounded like he was in pain.

If you had to go through high school with a name like Horseshack, you'd be in pain too!

Yeah, and great vid! Where were the fireworks? I sounded like Illuminations!

Hey Steve and Diane,

Hey Sam- Y- Gram!
(that's margymas backwards, and yes, I am proud of it :lmao:)
sorry, haven't slept well lately, and I'm getting weird like Ponzi when he does't get enough sleep.

Glad you are back safe and sound (although if Steve came back "sound" that would be something, seeing as he probably didn't leave in exactly that condition. Disney can do great things for people). Wow, you nailed it all. Nice job, even down to Hootie and the Blowhards.

And while we are waiting for Nebo - Ponzi - Can you post another entry, please? I have really gotten into your "Life of Walter Mitty"-esque report about Nebo's trip.

Well.... Nebo did ask me to, and now you have too.

How's that?

Requesting :) Someone has to keep us entertained, right?

Okay. Now I can go back to bed.
Actually, I still haven't been over to Bunnys report since we left Illinois, and Lady H told me she wrote extensively in her descriptions of rides at Uni JUST FOR ME!
So I had best get my GM over there.

We left off having not seen Universal,,, or at least the attractions weren't overy attractive,,,,,

Not that they were replusive,,,, reclusive,,,

,,,repulsive

And now it's time to go home,,

No we're not cutting our trip short because the cats miss us,
Its' time to go to Disney and CBR,,,

I'm realy looking fosrward to getting back there. We ahda lot of fun at Uni but at least at Disney,,, even if I can't see anything I rmember what it looks like,,,

Diane calls us a cab (okay, we're a cab) and we check out of the Roayl Pacific.

Nice hotel but we felt a little out of place staying there,,, Maybe we're more local and less royal,,,,,

Our cab is waiting and the world's chaattiest driver is at the wheel,,,

This guy was convinced that he had to play tour guide,,,,

without knowing what he was guiding about,

"So, you folkd going to Disney World?"
"Yes, that's why we told you to take us there."
"They've got lots of rides at Disney World."
"Yes, we've heard that too."
"You gonna see that new Harry Potter ride?"
"That's at Universal,."
"No, I'm pretty sure it's at Disney."
"Okay, it's at Disney,,, any idea wich park?"
"Yeah it's at Disney World."
"Right, got it."

By this time I wasn't sure our tour guide would gbe able to guide us to CBR, but we got there,,,

Smidgy paid the driver and tipped him as well,,, I can only guess for the tourist advice,

Yeah, Smidgy always tipps better than me,,, maybe if I give her bad tourist advice she'll give me money too,,,,,,,,,,,

"Diane! Next year we can stay at the Royal Pacific and walk to Epcot. It's considered botha Uni and a Disney resort."

nope,,,, no money,,,,,,

We walk up to the check in counter and the 12 year old behind the deks says "Welcome Home",,,,

aaaahhhh,,,,

But wait, which home exactly are we being welcomed to?

"Mr, Nebo I have you in Barbados"

Depending on where in Barbados, you could be either a long way form Port Rioyale,,,, or in another time zone,,,,

"Just a minute,,, where exactly in Barbados?"

She circles building 11.

Nope, that isn't going to work. Smidgy's watch can't be changed and swithing time zones every time you wnat to eat is just no fun at all,,,,,,,,,

"Sorry, with my foot we can't walk that far, try agian."

Our 12 year old exchange student types for a while and looks up with a big smile and says," I have an available Pirate room."

Aarrrgh,,,,

no,,,,,

The pirate rooms are all in Trniidad South,,, so instead of setting your watch forward an hour, you have to set it back by an hour instead,,,,,,,,

"Keep looking, matey,,,"

She looked a little taken aback at my affront, like she'd been struck amidship,,,,

Hey, it was her fault for bring ing up the whole pirate thing,,,,

We eventually got a room in Jamaica. Just around the corner from the quiet pool and close to the bridge to Carribean Cay and Port Royale,,,,

Of course it won't be ready until we settle in by the pool first, but,,,,

Now we're home,,,,,,,,,

That's it for tonite,,, who knows, maybe the next post will start all over again in Carpenterville,,,,,
