Organizing Tables

Hi Everyone!

So I am working on arranging the tables for my wedding in 3 weeks but I have hit a road block and could use some help. I am having my reception at the Yacht Club we are having a sit down dinner for about 45 people. The way we have it set up is:

table 1
Me
DF
my mom
my dad
DF mom
DF dad

table 2
all of my moms family

table 3
all of my dads family

table 4
all of our "20 somethings" (bridal party and dates and a few friends mixed in)

table 5
all of DF family

......

this is where it gets interesting all of the tables 1-4 have the correct # (10 or 9) of people. Table 5 has 12 (one of DF uncles has 6 kids!) we can not separate any of the other tables and I really dont want to add an additional table if I dont have it so that I dont have to mess with any of the other tables so that I dont have one table with like 4 people sitting at it. Has anyone had like one bigger round table for 12 people? I was hoping you lovely ladies would be able to help me so that I dont have to wait for my WP to respond to me e mail on monday.

this was the hardest part for me during the wedding. when i asked to add chairs i was told 10 is max but they did 11 for two of my tables but they told me it is a tight squeezz...

sunshine1-That was sooooo not the answer I was hoping for Technically we have 11 people and 1 high chair but I dont know if that makes any difference. If we have to re organize the tabels what a nightmare that would be! and my WP is out today so I will have to wait yet another day for a solution!

I am so sorry to be the voice of doom (trying to be the voice of reason), but I'd be so reluctant to do more than 10 people at a round table. There just is not enough room and I think your effort to make everyone comfortable by keeping them together at one table may actually result in a less than comfortable situation. It's nice that you want to keep your uncle and his 6 kids together, but is it possible, maybe to put that whole family (is it 7 or 8?)at a table and then whomever else you had there could be at another table?

I am actually hoping for tables of no more than 8 at our reception. I was recently at a business dinner function with very large tables for 10 and not only were people bumping elbows, but there seemed to be so much commotion and too many different conversations going on. People really couldn't talk to anyone other than those to their immediate left or right without speaking loudly and over and around others.

keenercam-I know I know everyone was having a hard time breaking it to me.

What we have decided to do is I called the uncle with 6 kids and there oldest kid who is 14 will sit with DF brother and cousin at the "20 somethings" table we checked with her mom to make sure it was fine and she said it will be great for her. So we now have two tables with 10 adults and one high chair each and 2 tables with 9 people at each and the head table with the 6 of us.

PrincessBride010103-we really wanted to sit with our parents since they were doing so much for us and my mom hada stoke about 2 years ago and I wanted to sit near her to make sure shes okay for the day. But it was a great suggestion!
