Orbitz: tell me why i shouldn't

Just booked Orbitz for our 3 night POR RO and saved $95 over our already discounted current promo rate .
Received a reservation # in the Orbitz email instantly .
(it looks different , shorter ,than the the normal Disney reservation #).
Went to My Disney Experience , added the Orbitz # then called Disney and canceled the original resv.
Everything looks Okay , ticket & dinning info remains as is .
Orbitz promo, as posted, is OUTTAHERE until the 16th.

I already have the 15% deal for a room at BC with orbitz. Would love to cancel and rebook to get 20% off. But I booked my fp+ last night and am paranoid it will get lost if I do this.

Anyone btdt? Or would you leave well enough alone?

Someone will likely know way better than I, but to share my experience. I had a room booked through disney with the disney visa discount. This Orbitz was better deal, so I booked through Orbitz, same room. I then linked the new confirmation/reservation number to my MDE. I could still see the restaurants I had linked to my acct. Too early for me to do FP though. After I saw everything linked on my acct, I then called to cancel my first room through Disney. And now I only see the new reservation and my dining is still the same. So maybe book then link the new one before you cancel the existing?

I actually think FP+ is different than ADRs.

Anyone "off the street" can make an ADR, even if it's a local resident doing nothing else but eating at one restaurant.

FP+ at 60 days is a special benefit for Disney Resort, Swan, and Dolphin guests. Other threads have indicated that FP+ is lost upon cancelation of a room reservation. I think they are tied to that specific reservation.

I didn't even have to call Orbitz to get the number to link my tickets. If you go to the Trip Details page a couple days after you buy the tickets you should have a Disney ticket confirmation number. Then go to your Disney page and link the tickets using that number.

It depends did you have a package or just a room only and tickets separately? If your tickets are not linked to your hotel stay you should be fine booking the nee room and then canceling the old one. The system should realize you met all the requirements and not cancel anything. If your ticket was bought as a package with the room then you are out of luck.

I had booked with the 15% off code last week. Then on Sunday I cancelled and rebooked with the 20%off code to save an extra $68.
Today the refund showed on my cc account so it was quick. Just an FYI for those wondering.

I'm not the person asking- not trying to speak for them. But:

I'm not so sure this is true. It is indeed room-only, with separate tickets. But other threads have mentioned that FP+ booked using the 60-day benefit are deleted when the room reservation is canceled.

Hm interesting. I've done upgrades and such and never had the issue as long as my tickets weren't linked to the room itself. Even cancelled a room but it was after the 30 day window and kept my FP+ because the tickets weren't linked to the room.

Ok, so to be specific- you booked FP+ using the 60-day benefit, later canceled the room-only, and FP+ was not affected?

We booked a room under a Florida Resident rate about 20 days before the trip so cancelled the original room only booking and nothing was affected.

That's very helpful- thanks!

Of course just letting you know that was our experience. there is no guarantee it won't drop your fastpasses but after the 30 day window FPs aren't linked to hotel stay anyways.

I think I won't risk it to save maybe another $100. I am now right in the window between 60 days and 30, so they could technically cancel my fp the second I unhook that one room to add the other. I wish the 20% code had come out last week!

Why don't you book orbitz, link it to MDE, and then cancel your reservation that you booked with Disney? That's what I did, and was able to keep my FPs.
So far, I've had a pleasant experience with Orbitz. I booked split stays that were available on both Disney and orbitz, but with orbitZ I would save $100 altogether. Linked to MDE easily. It's only annoying to call and add your children to your reservation due to their glitch every time.

For those of you who cancelled and rebooked with 20%, how quickly did your room reappear on the orbitz hotel availability website? Is it right away? I'm afraid if I cancel, it'll take time and then by the time I get to it it will be gone. There are limited rooms for this date.

I have the S/P/D with disney, so it includes my park tickets. I have ADR's linked in MDE. It is too early for me to book FP.
If I book a room only with orbitz, and buy my tickets from disney, am I eligible for choosing FP's at my 60 day window?:confused3

yea you will still be eligible to book at 60.

Just called orbitz to add 2 children to the reservation. Was a little alarmed at first, because the CSR said something like the reservations are not able to be modified, but that she would call the hotel to add the kids. She put me on hold and minutes later, she came back and said it was done. i linked it in MDE and everything looks perfect

Yeah, kind of confusing. It's not modified in Orbitz's eyes. If you check your Orbitz reservation status, your party size will have stayed the same. But you're all set changing it in Disney's system.

So I booked a room-only reservation with Disney at Pop Century for 3 nights in February with the Disney Visa discount. I've been checking Orbitz thinking that I could 'stack' their current % off discount on top of that (if I made a new reservation), but it's giving me a total that's actually a couple dollars more than what I'm already paying through Disney....is anyone else having this issue? Does it not give you the true total until you're at the end of the transaction? Is there a way to not apply the code until the very end? Because if I list it at the beginning it says "Your promotion code has been successfully applied. Select any hotel labeled "PROMO CODE ELIGIBLE" and you will see your savings on the next page." But it's not showing any hotels that are "promo code eligible" and simply gives me the same price as before...
