DD16 had her wisdom teeth out this morning, plus a frenulectomy. She felt pretty wretched when she came home--she threw up almost immediately after we arrived. Got her packed off the bed and she fell right to sleep. :goodvibes

But all in all, she did pretty good. DD has a LOT of fears about medical procedures--she was "mishandled" when she was about 10yo and since then its been hard for her to submit to any shots, IVs, even routine doctor appointments. She was very anxious when we left and they gave her something for it. BUt she woke up anxious and crying, although she couldn't tell us why. I think she was just really feeling emotional, she wasn't hurting.

I just woke her up a few minutes ago to change her bandages--bless her heart, she doens't have any sense of time yet. She thought we had just done it. I loaded her up on Percocet so she ought to be knocked out pretty soon. :thumbsup2

Poor baby......I hope she is better soon.

If they gave her Versed, that could explain why she is feeling that way....

I do believe she had Versed. But you know? My oldest son did the same thing on Demerol & Phenergan.

Awwww mommmmm!!!!

Just before Christmas with all the yummy goodies?;)

My BIL had his oral surgery last week and my cousin goes in today for knee surgery. 'Tis the season to get things removed or fixed, I guess.

I hope she's feeling better soon.

She chose the date! I thought she'd rather do it after Christmas, but she said no. We needed to get it done sometimes before the end of the year since we've met all our deductibles and out of pockets. Plus, I didn't want her to have to take time off from school (she's a junior.)

I can second the crying thing. When I had my wisdom teeth out and they took me to lie down in the recovery room I was still all hopped up on whatever they gave me and I was crying my eyes out for absolutely no reason. I wasn't in any pain or anything it was just the drugs. Good times all around :lmao:

They gave me the maximum valium they could, and I was still awake during it, but high as a kite! :hippie: I kept trying to chat, and in recovery, decided to use my cellphone to take pics of myself so I could see what I looked like! :lmao: I was feeling FINE. However, when I got a dry socket later that night, I was crying. OP - remember - no straws!

Hugs to your daughter. My son had his wisdom teeth removed and had two implants put in last summer. My only advise is to stay up with the pain meds. Don't let her get uncomfortable before you give her some, otherwise, it takes a lot of time to get back on top of it. For the first two days we did Tylenol and Motrin every 4 hours/6 hours.

Good luck!

I had my wisdom teeth out when I was 17 (ages ago!). Since they were impacted and required major chiseling, I was given IV valium and knocked out. The doctor told my mom and me that teenaged girls sometimes wake up from valium and get weepy. He said no one knows why but he told us so we would understand that it may happen. I don't remember but my mom said I was a little teary-eyed when I woke up. Sounds like the same thing happened to your DD. Hope she recovers quickly!:)

Oh I feel her pain!

I had my wisdom teeth out in August...they were all impacted, one was infected and broken up so it took them a while to scoop all the parts out (TMI?!)

I spent two days with my mouth packed with gauze, I looked like I was storing nuts for the winter.

I also lived on chocolate pudding, butter pecan ice cream and Panera Bread's cheddar and broccoli soup!

I was 18 when mine came out and it was the same situation. All four were impacted and it must have been valium because I was out within seconds of having the IV in. I did not know that particular tidbit about it's possible effects on teen girls. Very interesting.

Yeah, when I had mine done at age 22 they were all gnarly and the doctor had a real time getting them out. I couldn't open my mouth wide for a week. I remember feeling icky, but my mother kept me so high on Demerol I didn't even know my own name:rotfl:

So far DD16 is just sleeping. I'm waking her up every 30min to change the gauze and make her drink something. The bleeding is much better now so I think I'll give her a little sherbet in about 20 minutes.

With such great care she will be back on her feet in no time.:goodvibes
