"Only Heaven Is Better than Disney World": Live TR 8/24

Sounds as if it was another lovely day. Your Chefs de France food looked wonderful especially when I'm waiting to eat a steak/cheese/mushroom sub. The two simply do not compare. Enjoying living vicariously--keep it coming. :goodvibes

It was a great day! Thanks for following along!

We woke up bright and early this morning for our breakfast at the Magic Kingdom before park opening. I don't know how we made it halfway through our trip without coming here yet!

Today, we hopped onto the monorail from the GCH instead of the TTC. On the way, I managed to get some beautiful early morning pictures from the Poly grounds.

Finally, we hopped on the monorail to head over to the Magic Kingdom.

When we arrived there, I looked back and saw the beautiful Grand Floridian just behind me to my right.

2c17ada1.jpg

Alrighty, enough time looking at that, I have a breakfast to get to!

Turning the other way, I saw a truly welcome sight :goodvibes

But no sight was more pleasing than this one! :cloud9:

They are doing work on some of the buildings on Main Street and have those themed tarps up.

And finally, it's breakfast time!

We checked in at the front podium and were seated in less than ten minutes, at the same table where we sat last year! We placed our drink orders and headed up to the buffet to get some food.

My fiancé's plate

I was debating on whether to order an egg white omelette from the chef when I saw Eeyore at our table...that's way more important than an egg white omelette so I scurried on over! I got a picture with him, but I'm not crazy about it so I'll leave that one out.

We also got to see Piglet...

2d682528.jpg

...and Tigger too!

25bbbc7e.jpg

a5b60bba.jpg

It was hard to get a picture with Tigger that wasn't a little blurry because he never stopped moving; he was always bouncing slightly or waving his arms :woohoo:

After Tigger and Piglet visited our table, they did a little "pooh-rade" with the kids, which I managed to take a short video of.

We didn't get a chance to see Pooh at our table before we left, but I managed to get a shot of him on the way out.

Heading out, I caught another picture of the castle...I mean is there ever such a thing as too many pictures of the castle!?

My fiancé suggested we head for the rope drop at Frontierland, since that's what we did last year, but I wanted to check out Adventureland since I had a feeling it would be quicker and less crowded.

Stay tuned for more of our MK day, and thanks for reading!

When we first arrived at the Adventureland rope drop, there weren't any cast members there yet.

78408d90.jpg

However, that quickly changed.

72eb1c61.jpg

Let me tell you, if you are going to do rope drop on this side of the park, Adventureland is the place to be. Not only can you get to the Frontierland rides just as quickly, if not more quickly, than the Frontierland rope drop, but also it is MUCH more entertaining.

They have pirates from the Pirate League out there telling corny pirate jokes and the cast member interaction is great. For example, when one of the pirates saw my just engaged button, he asked to see my "treasure." Once I showed it to him, he offered to take it off my hands to "shine it up" for me :). They also handed out "pixie dust" to the kids to throw to open the park, and gave some to me and my fiancé too because they said engaged couples need pixie dust too.

a2af967e.jpg

A couple of kids got there after they gave out pixie dust, so I gave them mine and stole some of my fiancé's ;)

Before they let us all in, one of the pirates took a picture of us with one of the cast members.

9ed9e0a9.jpg

At one point, they asked who came the farthest to be here, and it turned out one traveling party was from Canada. The pirates asked if anyone was further than Canada, and one tiny little voice piped up, "I'm from Chicago!" Everyone got a kick out of that :goodvibes

When it was time for the park to open, we threw the pixie dust and headed on in to Adventureland.

My fiancé and I turned into the opening to Frontierland, ready to ride my favorite ride...

Not this one...

But this one!!!

40b773f6.jpg

I LOVE Splash Mountain!!! The songs, the drops...pretty much everything about it except getting wet! It was pretty hot out today, though, so I wasn't too concerned about drying out if I got wet.

We walked right onto Splash Mountain twice in a row with no wait at all (and thankfully didn't get soaked), and then we headed over to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, only to find that it was temporarily down.

We decided to head on to Adventureland instead to see what adventures awaited us!

Oooooo... I did a quick shudder when you mentioned the Sum of all Thrills. DH and I went on that one (we designed a very mild bobsled for chicken hubby) only to find out that ... unknown to me until the very moment they closed the "lid," I am clostrophobic! Sorry if that is spelled wrong. I nearly freaked out and had a panic attack for the entire ride! I guess I was the chicken on this ride.:scared1:

I love your update for today--the MK is my favorite:thumbsup2
Love your pics from The Crystal Palace too. My dd2 has recently fallen head over heals in love with Piglet, so we will have to do this next trip. We have never eaten there!! Anyway, looking forward to more of your trip report:thumbsup2

Our first stop in Adventureland was Pirates of the Caribbean.

After we left Pirates, my fiancé bought some water for us and then decided to get a rosewood Disney World pen with our names engraved on it.

Next up, the Jungle Cruise! Is it just me, or does anyone else love the corny jokes?

After the Jungle Cruise, we headed over to The Enchanted Tiki Room to see if the next show was soon, and since it was only an eight minute wait, we decided to see it.

After the Tiki Room, we decided we were all adventured out and headed over to Liberty Square. Hmm, whatever would we do there...

I am loving your report! Chefs looked awesome...maybe I can talk DH into that one for next trip. Don't ya love just walking around the Poly? It is so relaxing...can't wait to do that next August!:goodvibes

Thanks! Chefs was awesome...one of the best restaurants on property where I have eaten. It IS nice walking around the Poly! So beautiful :-)

Once in Liberty Square, we hit another of my favorites, The Haunted Mansion.

569e7b42.jpg

No pictures from the actual ride itself, just wanted to enjoy it.

After the Haunted Mansion, we made our way over to Fantasyland and caught a showing of

b1700ba9.jpg

While I like the other 4-D shows on property, in my opinion, this is the best one. Not only is it quintessential Disney, but it also has the best 4-D graphics and who doesn't like the baked apple pie smell!?

After Philharmagic, we headed towards Tomorrowland and took this picture on the way.

That's the closest you'll see me to those teacups!!! ;) I do NOT do spins!!!

Our first ride in Tommorowland was

0985ece6.jpg

I was very excited to ride this, as it was under rehab when we came last year, and I have fond memories of it from my childhood. I managed to get a few pictures during the first part of the ride, and then just sat back and relaxed for the rest.

Next, another one of my favorites:

f67d66ef.jpg

Sing it with me--"There's a great big beautiful tomorrow..."

After CoP, we decided to try

6b133fc8.jpg

Neither of us had been on it before, and we skipped it last year because I hadn't heard great things about it. And after riding it...eh, I could take it or leave it. I thought it had a lot of potential in the beginning, before Stitch escaped, but after that I thought it could have been a lot better. And the chili dog burp...ugh, don't even get me started!

After Stitch, we went to another attraction neither of us had experienced before.

cf783c36.jpg

This was really cute. I especially like the bits with the camera focusing on the audience and "that guy." I've never actually seen Monsters, Inc. before, but you didn't need to for this.

By this time it was after two, so we were really to grab some lunch. We didn't make lunch reservations for today, so we grabbed quick service at Cosmic Ray's. My fiancé got a chicken sandwich, and I got chicken tenders. For the dessert that comes with it, he got a cake, and I got a brownie.

When we first arrived in Tomorrowland, my fiancé had run over to Space Mountain to get fastpasses, and it was now finally time to use them. I never took a picture, probably because by this time my poor little blistered feet were killing me. But we thoroughly enjoyed the ride, especially my fiancé, who had never ridden it before because it was being rehabbed when we came last year.

Once we rode Space Mountain, we went back to the resort. I don't know how, but somehow my sore footsies made it!

We arrived to a new towel creation in the bathroom.

0f8e89d3.jpg

Looks like the razor's a real stud ;)

We also have had this towel creation since we got to the resort, but I don't think I ever posted a picture.

530e380e.jpg

The rest of the afternoon was fairly uneventful. I took a nap while my fiancé did some of our laundry and refilled our mugs, and he took a nap while I worked on my trip report.

We had dinner at Ohana later on, but that'll have to wait for another post because I am beat! Night night all!

You definitely should! The food's good and the prices aren't too bad. Plus you can use DDP (1 credit) if you have it.

I just love POTC its my fave ride in MK.. Well I love alot of rides but POTC has fond memories since I was a child..JC is very corny BUT its a must do on our first MK day..LOL Loving the Poly pics

I don't do spinning teacups either!

And here's a bit of information :teacher: - when I was in my teens, I was preparing to be an astronaut (no joke, I went to college for aerospace engineering) and I went to Space Camp and Space Academy. They taught us that the reason people get dizzy and sick is that they are spinning on ONE direction for more than one rotation. So spinning teacups will make a person dizzy but trying to fly a shuttle will not :lmao: They put us on this contraption that went in 3 different directions (think of a seat within 3 different circles and the circles went in the 3 different directions - x, y, and z axis) and while I had no idea which way was up or down, I did not get dizzy. Ok, enough of my blabbering!

Cool! I didn't know that!

After resting at the resort most of the afternoon, we headed over to the GCH for our 9:30 dinner at Ohana.

ce57234e.jpg

We had to wait a few minutes for our seats, but when the hostess took us to our table, it was definitely worth the wait. We were seated right next to the window :woohoo:, and the fireworks were scheduled to start in about 20 minutes.

The first thing they served us was the bread.

cad17a4a.jpg

This was tasty; it had a slightly sweet taste to it, which I think was honey.

Before they brought us the next course, the singer went by doing a little parade with the kids.

d8ddec0d.jpg

After the bread came the salad, which was also yummy.

c37ae97a.jpg

They also brought us dipping sauces at this point, which they said we should use later with the meat, and hot towels to wipe our hands with.

668dfcb9.jpg

95be1ebe.jpg

Next up, they brought us chicken wings, potstickers, vegetables, and noodles. These were all very good, but the potstickers were my favorite.

As if we hadn't had tons of food already, it was now meat skewer time. They cook the food right in front of you in the restaurant, and then someone comes around and puts the kind you want on your plate.

0d9ed1b3.jpg

Steak (bottom) and pork (very top).

af20f8a6.jpg

Chicken

41519109.jpg

They had shrimp too, but I didn't get a picture of it. Out of all the meats, the steak was my favorite. I usually like chicken better, but for some reason it didn't taste nearly as good as the steak here did.

When ten o' clock came, we were looking expectantly out the window for Wishes. The Poly music cut off, leading us to believe that the Wishes music was about to start. We waited...and waited...and waited. Finally, we were starting to think it had been cancelled due to the rain when all of the sudden, we heard Jiminy Cricket's voice pop up over the sound system. Yes!

It turned out our view wasn't as great as we hoped because there was a tree in the way, but we were still able to see some of the higher up fireworks.

9d032cb4.jpg

62b678e3.jpg

b26d74a9.jpg

After Wishes, they brought out the famous Ohana bread pudding for dessert. I had heard rave reviews of how good this is, and every time, I wondered how something so simple-sounding could supposedly taste so good. Well, it definitely lived up to the hype. It was sooooooooooooooo yummy!!! In fact, I think I'm drooling a little right now just thinking about it!

61101fc2.jpg

On the way back to the Poly, I took a nighttime shot of one of the buildings.

e2311ded.jpg

By this time, it was after 11, and we found we needed to use our key cards to get back into the building after then. Just wanted to mention that in case anyone else wasn't aware of it.

I was very glad to get back to the room because my feet were killing me! I soaked them in the tub, worked a little on my trip report, and then went to bed!

Today: Downtown Disney and Le Cellier for dinner :woohoo:

When we woke up this morning for our breakfast at Kona Cafe, I was feeling a little sick to my stomach, so I went on my phone to see if I could get a reservation for Monday morning instead. They had availability, so I made a new ADR. I offered to treat my fiancé to room service for breakfast instead, but I paid cash for it because it's basically a waste to use DDP credits for it (2 credits per person!!!)

He ordered eggs over-easy, which came with sausage, potatoes, pineapple slices, and biscuits. I just got some toast to calm down my stomach.

When I called to order, the lady asked if we wanted anything to drink, so I ordered an orange juice for him and bottled water for me.

About a half an hour later, our food arrived.

My fiancé's food

cb466146.jpg

They brought a toaster so you could make your own toast! Too cool!

0e194f3b.jpg

The whole setup

07f0a6ff.jpg

Now let me tell you about this bottled water. If you order room service and want bottled water, run to the soda machine down the hall. Do not buy it from room service! They brought me an EIGHT DOLLAR glass bottle of Evian water. And let me tell you, it didn't taste any better than the two dollar and fifty cents bottle of water down the hallway. :rotfl: Oh well, live and learn.

8b089fd9.jpg

After I ate the two pieces of toast, my stomach started to feel a little better, so I had one of my fiancé's biscuits and a little bit of his potatoes.

After breakfast, I went back to sleep until about 10 or so, and then we headed out for the Downtown Disney bus at about 11. The bus came fairly quickly, and we were on our way!
