"Only Heaven Is Better than Disney World": Live TR 8/24

Caught up & LOVING this live TR! After not being super impressed with Tusker House, you've made me want to give it another shot. Hearing the crowds are low just totally made my day, too! I hope they stay that way through the weekend. Only one more day of real life to suffer through until we see Mickey again!! :woohoo:

Yeah...all caught up! We are loving all of the pictures and updates! You are making us question some of our ADRs. We are not doing dining this year and the Brown Derby looks soooooooooooo tempting. Thank you for the time you are spending to make a few of the obsessive DISers drooling!:surfweb::banana::yay::cheer2::mickeyjum

Brown Derby is really good, as is Chefs de France. I think they are my favs so far. But if you already have ADRs, you could always do them next time.

I've never had lunch at Tusker House, but this is my second time doing breakfast there and I really enjoyed it! Woohoo, one more day until you get here!!!

As I mentioned in my last post, we went to the Safari next to use our fastpasses. As it turned out, we didn't really need them, as they only saved us about two minutes.

We got to see the cutest little baby elephant with his mom. He was squirting water all over the place!

I was so excited; we actually got to see a male AND a female lion!

All in all, great safari! I got to see even more animals than I posted, like giraffes; I just didn't manage to get pictures of them.

Next up: More shopping and lunch at Yak and Yeti!

After the safari, we went to a couple of shops looking for Crocs in the hopes that they would be better for my feet. They didn't have any in my size, but I did buy this:

Earlier in the day, we saw a couple that rode Kali with us was wearing these cute Disney windbreakers, and we asked where they got them. They said in some stores, if you spent a certain amount, you could buy them for $10. Well, my t-shirt was over that amount, so I am now the proud owner of one of these:

They are rather wrinkled in the picture; they are much cuter on!

We still had about an hour before lunch, so we started heading back towards Asia to see if we could find something interesting to do that wasn't too time-consuming. As we walked by the Tree of Life, we found something perfect for just a purpose--only a five minute wait and eight minutes long...plus, neither of us had ever visited this attraction before. You've probably guessed by now, we decided to see

The queue for this line is really cool because you get to see some of the carvings on the Tree of Life up close and personal.

My fiancé and I loved this show. It was very cute and funny. It might be a little scary for small children, though, with all the 4-D effects.

After the show, we still had about a half an hour before our lunch reservation, so we figured we would check in and see if they could seat us early.

They weren't that busy and seated us right away. We got a seat right across from the window.

For our appetizers, my fiancé got the pork egg rolls, and I got the pot stickers. Both were good.

For our entrees, he got the sweet and sour chicken, and I got the bourbon chicken. While this was good, we have a couple of superb Chinese places near us that are better. However, I still would eat here again because the food was pretty decent.

When we finished, our waitress brought us fortune cookies and took our dessert order. (If you haven't figured it out yet, we have the deluxe dining plan, or we wouldn't be ordering all this food! We don't always finish it all because it's simply too much, but we love being able to have a little taste of everything.)

When my fiancé opened his cookie, the teacher in me cringed at his grammatically incorrect fortune.

Family is a collective noun, so the verb should be "is" not "are." Anyway...

For dessert, he got some kind of cheesecake, and I ordered the assorted sorbets. The mango was a little too sweet for me, but I thought the lemon and raspberry were yummy.

After lunch was over, we headed out of the park. I realized we still had two Expedition Everest fastpasses, so I suggested we look for a party of two to give them to on the way out. We ended up giving them to a British couple, who were very happy because they had just been heading there and were worried about the wait. I believe I heard the phrase, "This is brilliant!" as we walked away. I love British people and their quaint phrases :) Why can't we Americans talk like that? ;) Right before the park gate, we stopped to get a couple of photopass pictures and caught the bus (rather quickly, I might add :woohoo:) back to the Poly. I spent a little bit of time working on my trip report and then took about an hour nap before getting ready to head to Epcot for dinner.

Great TR. I am really enjoying the Disney "fix" I am getting. I still have about nine more months before I can go back. :sad2:

You may have already answered this, so I appologize if you are repeating yourself. I have not read all the comments, just the TR. What kind of phone do you have? The photos are fabulous!

Also, in the photo you posted of the hippos, did you notice the people in the background? I have never seen people during the safari, except, of course, those in the other trucks. Pretty cool shot.

Am looking forward to the rest of your TR. I hope your feet feel better. Have you ever tried Merrell shoes? I wear the Merrell mocs every time I go to WDW and have never had any problems, blisters or even hot spots. They are not very attractive shoes, but I wouldn't wear anything else.

And congrats on your engagement! DH and I just celebrated 21 years.

I have an iPhone 4, which I love! The picture quality on it is pretty nice :). I totally missed the people in the picture until you said something! That is so cool! I wonder if they were on a special tour or something? (Sign me up for that one ;)). I actually never heard of Merrell shoes. I'm going to have to check them out. Thanks for reading!

Off to the Magic Kingdom today! How did it take us so long to get there!?!? Breakfast at Crystal Palace before the park opens, and then no definite plans until Ohana at about 9pm. We might hit up Downtown Disney midday. Thanks again to everybody for reading!

What a great day at the AK! That hippo pic was great, I dont thnk I have ever seen anybody actually on land during the safari. Very cool! Dinner at OHana was our favorite enjoy!!!!:thumbsup2

Your trip report is brilliant .... thank you so much for taking the time out to write.

I completely didn't notice those people in the background! That is different seeing them (great job on a rare shot!). Loved the Tree of Life pics - it's so amazing all the detail in those carvings.

I'm so loving this - we leave in 21 hours :cool1::banana::dance3::cheer2:

I was planning on shutting down my computer this morning, but I want to read about your MK day! It's my favorite park. We did the early ADR at Crystal Palace last August, and loved it. There's something about entering the park without the big crowd - just so magical!!

See you soon ;)

Thanks for sharing your trip with us! I've been reading along, but wanted to "stop in" and say HI! :wave2:

DH & I will be there (adults only!) in 3 weeks, staying at the Poly. I'm so excited, but reading along with you is bumping it up another notch :cheer2:

Enjoy your day at MK!! I will be thinking of you and all the other lucky people who are soaking up Disney magic :wizard: while the rest of us are working :surfweb:

I love Crystal Palace. I am sure you will have had a great breakfast.

I hope your feet are feeling better. Maybe they need a nice relaxing afternoon at the pool.

I love the shirt you bought at the Animal Kingdom. I have 2 very similar ones. One is white with a black and white zebra head Mickey and the other is Black very much like the one you bought. I get asked about them every time I wear one.

I can't wait to read more and appreciate the time you are taking to do this live.

Excited too hear about your meal at Chef's in France....:cool1:

What dessert did you get at Chef's......

Did you get too see Remi???

This is great...

Me either! Didn't even notice it until another poster pointed it out. Looking forward to Ohana...since it's right at our hotel, it doesn't matter how stuffed we get because we won't have to walk very far ;)
