I have 2 suitcases per person (Southwest). The ME folks sort these out even if there is only a tag on half of my luggage?

I'm flying in super late so my luggage will be sitting at the airport overnight - I will not be going to baggage claim for it so I want to be sure that it won't get a magic carpet ride to parts unknown.;)

DME has been sending out only one tag pp for years now. If you want more, just call DME and they will send out some. You have to have each bag tagged with one if you want DME to grab it. They will only get the bags with the yellow luggage tag on it.
If you don't call and get another one, you can go to DME checkin and give them the claim receipt numbers for your untagged bag. They will in turn send someone to the baggage claim area to get your bag from the carousel.

If your flight arrives after 10:00pm, you need to claim it in baggage claim.

Luggage delivery service is available for flights arriving between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. daily. For airport arrivals after 10:00 p.m., Guests must collect their luggage at Baggage Claim and transport it with them on the motor coach.

I have to pick it up or it won't get delivered until the next day. I'm ok with not having luggage until the next day. I've done that before when I've flown in late. I'd rather have someone else deal with the 6 bags since I'm travelling without my DH this time.

Any bag with a yellow DME luggage tag on it will be taken to another area of the airport, from the baggage carousel. THen it will be sent to the appropriate resort in the morning. It will get to the guest, but it won't be all behind the scenes baggage handling the way it is between 5am and 10pm. THe bags will be in the open in a public area for a bit.

I just looked at the page referral link on this tread and it does say you have to get bags and carry on to coach... it does not say anything about an option for them to be delivered in the morning....I have never arrived after 10 PM so this is new for me(us) actually the flight comes in just before 10 but..... so with kids in tow we have to go get our bags? what a pain. That is the only improvedment I am happy about ME and not having to carry bags. and now with SW you can check them in at resort too... Oh well I guess we will have a change of plans.:goodvibes

Last December my son and his family and I had reserved DME to the resort. We had a total of six bags, and only 3 DME tags. When I called DME I was told not to worry - just give the DME cast member at the airport our luggage tag receipts from the airline, and the bags would be found and delivered with our DME tagged bags.

We arrived at the airport at about 1:00 p.m. When we got to the resort, we left for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, expecting our bags to be delivered while we were gone.

When we returned to the resort there was one DME tagged bag in the room, but 5 were missing. After many, many phone calls from resort mgt. and us, our luggage was finally located about noon the following day, and not delivered to the resort until 5:00. Even the 2 bags that had DME tags did not arrive till then. We went more than 24 hours without toiletries, pajamas, or a change of clothes.

Don'tthink I'll trust DME again.

Last summer, we were supposed to take off from BWI at 3:30, but the flight was delayed until roughly 10:00. When we landed (around midnight), I talked to ME and they said since SW had our baggage so early it shouldn't be a problem. Well, ME was wrong. SW called my cell phone while I was on the ME bus saying the luggage had been left on the carousel, so they picked up and was locked in their offices for the night (they noticed the ME tags on the luggage). The next day, they were able to get it to ME and it was delivered eventually, but it didn't seem like this was an organized system at all.

I guess I'm just saying if I land after 10, I would go pick up my luggage.

Thank you so much for your input, I will pass this along to DD and family and we will get our bags and avoid any trouble, :goodvibes

This sounds like a case of the airlines misdirecting your bags and instead of you having to wait at MCO baggage claim and then eventually filling out forms DME took care of that for you.

All travelers should pack 24 hours of necessities for each traveler, all medicines and anything of value in your carryon bag. Airlines do misdirect luggage and its best to be prepared. Happend to me twice - luckily one was on the trip home!
