If you go to DISCOVER, then DINING, the restaurant list will pull up & some of them have the option to BOOK RESERVATION, when you click there the online screen pulls up.
I've been playing with the system for awhile and all I can say is "it needs to be improved". It may look very pretty but it's certainly not very user friendly nor fast. If you're going to try to plan your dinners for a week you're going to have to jump all over the place to get it done. It's also going to take quite a while.
They should've given you a "quick screen" we just went to pull down menus where you select the restaurant, date and time and then hit enter. Also if what you entered is not available it should give you restaurants in the same approximate area as options not ones in a completely different area of the park!
Except for the fact you can make your reservations starting an hour earlier I certainly don't see any big advantages to the system. They would've been much better off copying the open table reservation system in just use each area instead of the city sorting. It's very quick and efficient and gives you everything you need.
For anyone skilled enough at Internet bi-play,
How will the site verify you are a resort guest?
Thanks.

Yes I played around with that too, it works pretty good but as stated by someone else it doesn't make it very family friendly! The system is so cumbersome it's ridiculous, they certainly couldn't come up with a simpler system. This one may look pretty, but it's far from speedy. Maybe that's part of the idea, it will take somebody an hour to book a week's worth of reservations so other people will have a chance. You can't login early and get everything before everyone else gets a chance is it take so long!I agree with you about Opentable. I've been playing with the system myself. For anyone skilled enough at Internet bi-play, you CAN have two or more IE / Firefox windows open and perform simultaneous reservations. It's tricky, but it does work.
I don't know why they didn't outsource this whole function to OpenTable, they don't seem to have a problem outsourcing everything else...
At least with the OpenTable system, its tried, tested and WORKS fast and efficiently.
That's what Disney gets for creating their own software packages instead of using an efficient system with modifications to meet their needs. Maybe they should've taken this as an opportunity to break the mold and actually look at using an efficient system! If you have a bad system and never make it better by adding to it, you can only make it better by starting over. This, in addition to the new system incorporating recreation and other reservable activities that an outsourced entity might not have been able to wrap their talent around. Considering how unnecessarily convoluted Disney's entire reservation system is, Opentable.com would have taken one look at the mess and slapped themselves in the forehead while shouting, "Oy!"
