one day ticket & fastpass question

I have friends who are going to the Disney area for a conference in December. They would like to do one day in the magic kingdom with their two young children.

Can they purchase a one day ticket in advance and choose their day so they can plan out their day and get fast passes at their 30 day mark? Not staying on property. Or is their only option same day passes.

Thanks! My friends believe I know all things Disney. Truth is I know lots about stuff we do. I know where to find out the rest!

As long as they link their tickets to their My Disney Experience account, they can choose their fast passes for a rolling 30-day period, even if they're staying off site. Hope they have a magical time!

Yes, I did that last December. We did a day at DHS while in Orlando for IOA/US.
Bought my ticket and attached to my MDE, set up FPs, and then used an old Magic Band the day we went.
