If you had only one day in MK and it was your first time to WDW with a 12 and 10 year old, how would you plan your day? A collegue of my DH is going and asked me for suggestions so was hoping for others input, thanks!

They are going to be there on February 20th

With boys that age & only 1 day I'd suggest Disney Studios if they're into the big rides. It was my 8 yr olds favorite park.

I believe they are girls, I guess why they wanted to go to MK is because they have never been to WDW before so of course they want to see the castle etc.

Do you have the Unofficial Guide? In there are touring plans. The one day adult touring plan for MK worked wonderful for me. I used it in August of 2004 and I got to see everything on the list with little or no wait. It is commando style touring but you get a lot in. Well you don't have to run or anything. But it doesn't allow for much rest. If they want to see alot I'd really suggest those.

If I only had one day and have never gone before I would make sure I was there for the park opening. You really can get so much done before the crowds start coming in around 11:00. I would get a guide book or do research on the computer about the Magic Kingdom. Go with a plan. Know what rides are the most important to your family and try to do those things first. It helps to look at a map of the park to sort of have your barings on where everything is located. If seeing the parades are not important to you (which I love and highly recommend) the rides at that time usually do not have long wait times. Remember to use FastPass. Have fun!!

I'd head straight for fantasyland and get the big rides like peter pan, snow white, winnie done straight away, then go to frontierland for splash and big thunder, fastpassing one and riding the other, head back to liberty for haunted mansion then do philharmagic, hang around the castle area for a bit then go to tomorrowland for buzz and space mountain. lastly finish up with pirates and the jungle cruise.

I would get there before the park opens, know what rides I want to do and what order do to them.

Have lunch at the castle (which is undoubtedly booked on that date by now) second choice would be Grand Floridian Cafe for two young girls.

In the afternoon I'd do less popular rides, watch the parade, use fastpasses for favorite rides and shop.

I'd have dinner at Chef Mickey or the castle, if I didn't get lunch (both again might be booked by now) then I'd choose either Crystal Palace if they wanted or the Plaza Restaurant.

In the evening I'm not sure, the schedule says both Spectromagic and Wishes are at 9, I would think Spectro is 9 & 11 and Wishes 10. So what I would do THEN, is do rides during the first parade, see Wishes at 10, grab my spot for the parade and get something yummy from the bakery, watch Spectro at 11 and end a wonderful day at MK!!!

Hmmm......I would make use of Fastpass as much as possible. You probably won't be able to do everything in 1 day, so have each person pick the most important rides to hit, and make sure you do those. As others said, be there at park opening. If you plan on spending all day there (no break), try to plan for a restaurant meal if your budget allows. A character meal would be ideal, as then you might get away without waiting in line to see characters in the park. But, I'd do a character lunch or dinner--not breakfast. That way the meal would be more of a break from the rides, crowds, and lines.

Hey,

Make sure to check the children's height. Many of the "bigger" rides have a height requirement. Knowing in advance which ride they can ride and which ones they cant can save on time and tears!

I also like the unoffical guide for newbie touring, it can help get you orientated to the "short cuts" and big crowd times. Remind them to be sure to take time and enjoy the atmosphere. It is sooo easy the first few times you go to feel like you have to get your money's worth that you don't really get a feel for what WDW is all about. WDW will be there next month, or year for them to go back and I know they will want to go back!

Just did it last week for the Expedition Everest AP weekend! (What a blast!)

I did this last year....except my girls were 8 and 4. I just got a map of MK and looked over what they wanted to do (which was practically everything) we did our character visits between rides, mostly to try to keep cool. I think we covered everything in just one day, even got to see the evening parade and the Cinderellabration show!

Check the calender it is presidents day the park will be packed. Get to the park before opening and hit all the mountains first. Than Mickey Philamagic, Buzz and what ever else is important. Chances are you will NOT be able to do everything in one busy day.

:goofy: We will only be spending one day at MK and we plan on hitting Space Mountain first (after getting a FP for Buzz). Once we ride Buzz hop on the train by ToonTown Fair over to Frontierland and get a FP for Splash Mountain and ride Big Thunder Mountain. Then you can make your way over to Haunted Mansion and Fantasyland to get FP for Peter Pan or Philharmagic. This should get you on the big rides before it gets too busy. Then you can plan a leisure lunch or dinner. However if Dumbo is a "must" for your kids, then I suggest hitting that first thing upon the park opening because it will get crowded very fast and stay that way for the rest of the day. Don't know what it is about that ride that facinates kids so. You definitely don't want to miss the Spectromagic Parade & Wishes Fireworks show. Both unbelievable and mustn't be missed.
