On MDE can you have two tickets assigned to one person?

We have a trip planned for 12/30/18 thru 1/5/19 (just our family of four with only about 3 days in the parks) and are trying to plan another one for either Presidents' Day weekend or the second weekend in March with extended family (probably 4 days in the parks). I am so excited! We have never had two trips to Disney in one year! Since we have never done this before I have no idea how it works in MDE.

Can I have both our tickets for our New Years trip and our Feb/March trip assigned to us in MDE? If so, when we scan our Magic Bands at the park entrances for our New Years trip how do we know which ticket it is taking the day from? Our New Years trip tickets will most likely be park hoppers, but our later trip probably will not be. I debated about buying APs, but I think it is still cost effective for us to just buy MYW tickets.

Also, can I have FP+ reservations made for both trips? We will be staying at a Disney resort for both trips, so our 60 day window for our Feb/March trip will begin either before our New Years trip or while we are on our New Years trip.

We have only done two trips with MDE, so any advice is welcomed! Thank you!

Yes.

Each guest can have any number of tickets assigned under his/her name.

If a ticket is new (unused) and you want to create a fool-proof way of "not accidentally using the wrong ticket," just create a new "fake person" (just a a made-up name) in your MyDisneyExperience account and,
after you arrive at WDW before going into a park, transfer all of the package tickets that you want to "save" under that "fake name." Your tickets will remain unused until such time as you transfer them back to
your real names when you are ready to use those package tickets.

Booking FPs for two non-contiguous trips might be a bit more difficult than usual.

Yes, you can have more than one ticket attached. You need to go to the concierge desk (at your Dis hotel) and have them prioritize your tickets when you get there. Tell them which ones you want to use for the current trip. And, yes, you can hold multiple trip FP's at once.

$324.83 3-day Base
$404.70 4-day Base
$729.53 Total Base

$394.05 3-day Hopper
$484.58 4-day Hopper
$878.63 Total Hopper

$904.19 AP Platinum

If you can use any of the AP perks (like Memory Maker and meal discounts) and/or you park-hop, you might consider the APs.

$767.87 AP Platinum

Would you mind sharing how you can get a platinum AP at that price? When I look on the WDW website I see $849, $904.19 with taxes, but would love a lower price, of course.

Do you know if Swan/Dolphin will do this (not an official Disney hotel?)

By looking at the wrong list. :o
(That's the RENEWAL price.)

Fixed my earlier post.
Thanks!

I would prefer to use the parks' Guest Relations instead of any of the resort concierge desks to do the ticket priority.

I'm not sure on that one, you can always have it done at the parks as well at Guest Relations (as Robo points out above) which is what I would probably do if staying at the Swolphin.

Just as some feedback; I've been in this situation (multiple tickets on my account) several times, each time I've had the hotel concierge prioritize my tickets and it's been pulled off without a hitch each time, I find I don't want to waste time at Guest Relations at the parks and I can usually catch my concierge with no wait.

Thank you. That is very good to know.

I debated about buying one AP, for the Memory Maker and meal discounts. I still need to learn more and crunch some numbers.

There are many benefits to having an annual pass including resort room discounts, 10% discounts at select table service restaurants, 10% merchandise discounts at the shops in parks and resorts, discounts on tours, free parking at the parks, and more. :) The AP is also addictive and makes it very easy to return again and again. ;)

Worth noting that the current merchandise discount is 20% at Disney owned stores (most of the gift shops and resort shops).

Yes, I know myself too well. I am not sure I would have the self-restraint to limit myself to just two trips!

It certainly led to many "extra" trips after we got our APs. Now that we have DVC as well, it's even worse.

Make sure you prioritize the tickets before you enter, I had two tickets in MDE for my son and it used the wrong ticket when we entered the first day. I went to guest services later that day to check and after speaking with the CM, a manager and much back and forth on their end, they swore there was no way to undo it. They came up with a solution but it's not ideal and would have just been easier to avoid the whole thing to begin with. I'm transferring any duplicate tickets to fake names next time and only leaving the tickets needed for that trip.

Regarding the "fake name" method for multiple tickets - doesn't that affect the ability to get advanced fast passes?

I've been told multiple tickets is not an issue, but obviously it very much CAN be - if you don't know ahead of time that you need to get them prioritizes manually BEFORE park entry. Magic Bands and MDE - no physical ticket - created this issue and Disney could EASILY put a warning on the app when it sees multiple tickets assigned to one guest.

I will certainly get the tickets prioritized before we enter - and then I assume I can immediately check after entry to see it used the one we wanted it to use.

Yes, if you are doing FP you need enough tickets for all the days you want FP. In that case you wouldn't want to move tickets to fake name. Yes, prioritize them, or if you have the actual ticket, you could use that to enter the park rather than the magic band to make sure you don't have a problem (I did this for one of the holiday parties to make sure we used the holiday entrance and not a regular ticket to enter)

But, if you were wanting to use those tickets to book FP+, you would not NEED to send those tickets to a fake name account before your trip dates.
In the case of booking advance FP+ and THEN buying DIFFERENT tickets to USE when you arrive at WDW...
just set up the "fake name" in advance of your trip...
THEN, after you secured the new tickets (the ones you want to USE) just make the transfer of the "old" tickets that
you want to SAVE under the "fake name."

It makes no difference what tickets that you actually USE to enter a park, once the FPs are scheduled.
FPs are not linked to specific tickets when it comes to USING the FPs.

All this discussion of fake names and moving tickets (and procuring new tickets? Didn't get that one, Robo) shows that Disney didn't consider all the potential issues when setting up MDE/Magic Bands.

However, overall, it's a much better system than hard tickets and FPs. I understand (from a different thread) that at one point MDE allowed you to prioritize yourself on the app. Not sure why they removed that ability.

I still say the best way Disney can handle this is a simple "information" message on MDE if they see two or more tickets assigned to any one guest.
