OMG - $318 RT from PHL to MCO!!

I booked AirTran PHL-MCO r/t two weeks ago for $209. I've already had my return leg rescheduled but for the price I can deal with it...

SWA for 3 of us in November is over $900. Add in the price of a rental car (gotta have one - hate being at a busses beck and call sometimes) and it's ridiculous.

With the current gas prices, it will be cheaper for us to drive. We've had so much going on lately, that I kind of look forward to the "down time" in the car. :hyper:

Well I just purchased my airfare last week for my August 25th departure and August 31st return! Because I was really ready to drive because I have been looking for months and no deals always skipped over my dates cause my trip fell near Labor Day! So I got a wanna get away far from SW for Aug 25th at $64 which was $74.50 after taxes and fees etc... Then I booked my return flight on Airtran they were having a sale and I got my Return flight for $109 which was $125.50 with taxes and fees and seat charges for assigned seats! That was the cheapest ever for my return so I grabbed it while I could as the airfare that day was running $138 and up well over $200!!!!:scared1: The next day that same airfare for that day was $124! So im glad I got it when I did! So I paid exactly $200 per person roundtrip! Not bad! :goodvibes

Hi Folks
Becareful of parking in the long term lot in PHL, make sure you "empty" out the inside of your car, there has been a lot of break ins recently and stolen fuel too, buy a locakable fuel cap.
The lots are not patrolled very well, and it only takes a few min. to ruin your vacation.

ugh! some people are animals. We usually park there but on our next trip we're trying Winner parking as recommended by lots of Disers. I'm wondering if we should just get a town car service. May not be any safer at Winner.

I was just about to post and ask if it was insane to pay $322 RT for one adult (from hartford-mco) dec 5-14, but I am guessing that its not that far fetched??

We just used Winner and it was awesome (thanks Disboards!). It was like having valet parking at the airport, and very reasonably priced - less than $80 for 8 days including the $10 to drive straight home!

I think you got a pretty fair price, all things considered. Plus, now you're going to Florida!

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't really questioning their service. Just wondering how many other airport parking lots are targets for people having their gas stolen.
I read a post a few weeks ago where someone didn't even bother siphoning out the gas, just popped holes in the gas tank to steal it. :sad2:
I'd rather they just steal the gas than damage the car too. It's all a headache that I surely don't feel like facing after a 5-6 hr. flight from Phoenix. :headache:
I'm thinking maybe we should just leave the car in the garage and take a town car service.

I paid $419 pp RT with Jet Blue from Syracuse NY to Orlando for November 21-29th. This is more than double what we paid last year.

It is just crazy.

I agree, this is crazy!! I'm looking for dates in December & don't know if I should wait or not!!! Airtran's prices were actually a little cheaper than SW. However, I just read another thread stating that Airtran's stock fell sharply today. So that just puts another fear into my head! What if you book & they cancel your flight or worse, go bankrupt!!!! :confused3

I know. Yesterday my husband said " Now we just have to hope JetBlue is still flying by the time we go." YIKES - :scared1: They better be or I don't know what I would do.

I booked southwest for 25Nov-30Nov PHL-MCO for $454.00RT. Crazy but now my son is happy that we are bringing his girlfriend to spend Thanksgiving with us in Disney. Now I have to hope the flights that I booked for my family on Airtran don't get canceled. I told my DS19 that this is his girlfriend birthday and Christmas gift all wrapped in an airline ticket to Disney....

Wrong dates..she is flying 27Nov-30Nov...not that it really matter for this post but I wanted to make sure I put in the correct dates....

Does anyone have a favorite sedan service that they have used that I can get for her. I can't use ME since I am on a package and she is not staying the entire time. I have already checked.

Considering a year ago Oil was at $75 per barrel that makes sense.

Just an FYI, but if you changed your dates slightly to November 20th - 28th the fare would be $198 plus taxes.

Well, I finally took the plunge & booked my flights for December! I decided to go with Airtran PHL-MCO RT $206 before taxes. Not tooooooo bad--I keep telling myself that!:rotfl2: Now hopefully there will be no problems with Airtran changing flights! Now you know, tomorrow SW will probably have Ding fares!!!:lmao: Good luck to those who are still shopping for fares! :thumbsup2

Well,

The title says it all. Good fares are still floating around, you just need to find them. Maybe Delta has lowered the price from Columbus because they deleted the non-stop route? The base fare was $156 and with taxes and fuel, came out to only $198. I seem to remember seeing Delta fares to Orlando at around $220 (before fees) and this was many years ago, certainly before the fuel hikes.

If you see anything under $200 to Orlando from anywhere in the 48, I would grab it while you can.
