Ok, so i finally decided thaqt i am going to stay at beach club. I will not read any more of the other resort boards because i have changed my mind a hundred times. Now my dilemma? We are a family of five with no dining plan. I wanted to stay CL i feel we would get our moneys worth because o no diining plan. The only problem is i really want at least a garden view, but that is not a option with 5 in club level( and i am not getting delluxe room) So my question is would u pass on Cl in order to book garden view, and just use the extra money to buy breakfast snacks and alcohol?

This was the view from our BC CL (SV) room in November.

It was fun to watch the cars and buses pull in. I absolutely would take CL over a better view.

We will be going to DHS the same day, June 8!

We took an unexpected trip to Southern Cal in December for my grandma's funeral and added a trip to see the Mouse. My daughter had been without a stroller for awhile, but I knew she couldn't last all day walking. We ended up renting a stroller and it saved our backs from carrying her and gave us a place to put stuff when it wasn't in use. This December we will be at WDW and we will rent a stroller from an outside company. It looks bigger than the parks' strollers and they deliver to your resort! It may be worth looking into since it is your DS's first year without a stroller. Just a thought.

My DS has been out of a stroller for a long time (he just turned 5), but it will be his first time that we're not renting a stroller while at WDW. We normally rent from Magic Strollers (offsite company), but we think he can handle it without one this time. My concern is walking from the BC to HS that very first morning we're there AND then not having him in a stroller all day (it's not that short of a walk). I think he can make it through the day without one, I just don't want to have him walk all of that way the very first thing. Not that I want too, either (I have foot issues)! Perhaps we'll see you around on the 8th -- I'll have a LGMH on my backpack.

Quick question about my upcoming ever -lengthening trip I recently added a day on the front end of my trip at the Dolphin ( I know but it was free with points)

I am tranfering the next morning for our 7 night stay at BC. I know I could walk there but do not want to haul our stuff over there in the hot humid summer heat.
I heard somewhere that sometimes the S/D will do a luggage transfer to a WDW resort but I don't really want to do it that way.

Has anyone ever taken a taxi the short distance between the Dolphin and the BC? How much is it? Is this a ridiculous question?

Personally, that is what I would do. Take a taxi from the Dolphin to the BC with all my luggage.

Pull up, have bell services take it and check in.

I am guessing it couldn't be more than $10 (probably including tip) and that would be money well spent to me. Plus you are arriving at the front entrance, walking into the lobby and will probably be much more relaxed than if you walked or took a boat.

I have read in the past of S/D getting luggage to Disney resorts, but not sure if that is standard, or might take longer than usual? Certainly could inquire when you check in and then decide from there.

Thanks for the good wishes! I think he might've come round last night. Being a "numbers" guy, we sat down and worked through how many days we'd have to go to just break even and it was on the low-end of what we'd be doing between this trip, our "potential" January trip and our trip next September. Now, I've just gotta hope that my relatives agree to meet up in January and we'll go for the APs! I think I've just confused myself.


Question about requests...

We've booked a standard view CL. They've got a request in for a "king bed" which -- the more I think about -- would be nice but I think I'd prefer to be in a quieter bit of the floor. (Last year we had an amazing standard view, only had two standing balconies but since it was on a corner, we could see Illuminations from the bed!) This was such a nice room because it was on a corner and so quiet as it wasn't too close to the lounge. Instead of a king bed request, should I have them change it to "quiet" or "far from lounge" or what wording do you think best conveys this? Thanks muchly...

(Last year we had an amazing standard view, only had two standing balconies but since it was on a corner, we could see Illuminations from the bed!) This was such a nice room because it was on a corner and so quiet as it wasn't too close to the lounge. Instead of a king bed request, should I have them change it to "quiet" or "far from lounge" or what wording do you think best conveys this? Thanks muchly...

I think it makes sense -- I've requested "not too close to the lounge" before. I remember when we were at the BC, there was a room right next to the lounge and everytime I saw people coming in and out of it I was thankful that we were down the hall. It's nice to not have to walk that far, but I prefer a quiet room, too.

It may be worth looking into since it is your DS's first year without a stroller. Just a thought.

Not sure how old your child is but I second this option. I'll also add that I live in downtown Boston and have a real city kid who walks and takes public transportation everywhere. We very rarely drive anywhere. That said I still took a junky old stroller up until and including when she was 5. She'd been walking miles at home by then. We would usually take the stroller into the park and stash it in one of those stroller corals near a ride. We'd go back and get it later in the day when she got tired.

Maybe because I can't tear myself away from the YC/BC thread. I will check it out this weekend, though. I will also check out AllEars, and I've made notes on the specific dining suggestions that have been given here. I love the tip that LeCelier is only one TS for lunch--great to know!

Kelleigh--love the card idea! I will have to hide it from DH, though, as that kind of uber-planning will potentially give him a stroke! (How did he and I end up together?? It remains a mystery...)

I had that room next to the lounge last year! It really wasn't that bad, but then I have DD8 and DS4, so I'm used to some noise. Plus, we're early risers, so we were usually heading into the lounge ourselves as soon as they opened.

Good to know. It was at 4:55pm, when everyone was piled outside the lounge waiting for evening appetizers, that I realized the people in there may have heard something! Didn't even think about people who sleep in. Maybe now it's better since I don't think they lock the doors there anymore (or so I've read)...

I think this is what I will do. I looked up the rate on a few estimators and one said $3 and the other $4.50 so it is a cheap, fast and easy option. I do not want to lug around with my bags nor do I want to wait hours for them to show up if S/D does a transfer. I just want to go to SAB

This was our SV CL room view. Yes, there was a roof down below if you looked straight out, I wish I had a pic to show that it wasn't that bad. Looking to the left was gorgeous!

Actually, there is only one standard view CL room with a king bed and it's at the very end of the hallway and real real far away from the lounge so it would be a real quiet room. It's an extra large room too. I love it!!!!!

I'm checking into the darkside from 6/2-6/5. Will you be working any of those days? I'd like to stop in just to thank you in person for your contribution to this thread! We met last September, but it was so brief I'm sure it wasn't very memorable!

Yep, it was SV. I bet the room right next to it would be LV since the rooftop below cut off right at the edge of our balcony. I think our room number was 5670 maybe? Something like that.

Don't take this the wrong way. I am not criticizing you or your DH but rather the whole world that doesn't understand those or us who plan everything. I'm using your post as an oppurtunity to rant about something that's bugged me for a long time.

What I don't get is what is so wrong with planning these vacations out? I mean, these are the things that we and our kids and whoever is attending is going to remember 20, 30, 40 years down the road. Going on these vacations will make a more positive impression on the lives and memories of people than, for instance, making sure that kids brush their teeth or something mundane like that. But "non planners" see this as trivial. It's not trivial.

If one plans, one has the oppurtunity to turn a simple holiday into an experience that everyone in the party will appreciate for a LIFETIME. This is not trivial in the least! When you plan, you have a leg up on the vast majority of people in the park who are pretty much just "winging it".

I also think having a solid plan in place with occasional stops that ensure that your family has to be somewhere at a specific time, you can work in flexibility and allow yourself to deviate somewhat from the plan without ruining anyone's day. Having structure in place ALLOWS flexibility and welcomes it way better than starting by just winging it and then trying to add in some structure! Don't these people understand this?

In my case, I went to my family and found out what everyone wanted. My wife wanted some relaxation on this trip. It was this reason why I decided we would have a sit down or two every day to make sure we stopped, sat and ate a couple of times. It was also this reason that I felt staying club level at the Yacht Club would be perfect because of the benefits of club level and the pool. She did not plan this. I planned this and this is planned relaxation. Without the plan, everyone would be so tense and so on edge all the time because no one would understand what is going on.

Ok, rant over, back to the serenity that is the Yacht and Beach club. I just wanted to take this time out and say "Yey for the planners!"

Hi Teena!

Will you be there after Monday? We arrive again on Tuesday the 5th and I could have swore I read quite awhile back that you were either going to be gone or that your DD/DGD were going to be in Florida for some cruise or something...

If you'll be around, we'd love to see you again this trip!

And if our schedules don't happen to jibe this trip, let me say how happy I am for you for all that you've had going your way since we last met (improved health, new GD, new S-I-L [iirc]). This board, the YC/BC threads, and many DISers' vacations (ours included) would not be the same without your presence!!!
