OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Well I just completed the survery about our Beach Club trip. Does everyone get these? I actualy got 2. One I got from a visit to MK and told them I would do a survey. That was totally different than the Beach Club one.

Teena - I gave you a good word for sure:)

Only comments I made were that:
1. We could hear the movie at night from our room with the slider closed and shades drawn etc. Our room was directly looking at the lake. But it was weird having to Listen to Lion King etc. when we were trying to rest after a long day. I put the tv on louder to drown it out.

2. I said that the noise from the main pool was really loud. I did say I dont know if they could lower the sound of the microphone etc. I think after about an hour of that stuff it was driving me crazy. That is why we spent a lot of time in the pool with the swirling waters.

Other than those 2 things everything was great.

Yay! You'll be there during my stay 6/17 to 6/22. I hope to see you and say thank you for all the love and guidance.

So you are arriving on a crazy Sunday. It's our busiest check-in day. Looking forward to seeing you!!!!

My concern is walking from the BC to HS that very first morning we're there AND then not having him in a stroller all day (it's not that short of a walk).

Take the boat, beats the wear and tear on the little one who won't be in a stroller and doesn't really take any more time than walking if the boat is close by the dock.

I just realized that someone will have this very soon, right?

Dee will usually post it on page one as soon as she sees it or as soon as someone who is there has it to send to her. I'd think by Monday it will be available. Only problem is Dee will be at the world with her charges. Can't remember the web site to check but I'm sure Dee or someone else can give that to you.

Ok, so i finally decided thaqt i am going to stay at beach club. I will not read any more of the other resort boards because i have changed my mind a hundred times. Now my dilemma? We are a family of five with no dining plan. I wanted to stay CL i feel we would get our moneys worth because o no diining plan. The only problem is i really want at least a garden view, but that is not a option with 5 in club level( and i am not getting delluxe room) So my question is would u pass on Cl in order to book garden view, and just use the extra money to buy breakfast snacks and alcohol?

I'd go with CL standard view. Really think about it hard. How much time will you actually be sitting on the balcony or staring out the balcony door to look at the view. CL versus a view, I'd pick CL anytime!!!

I agree with everyone else. We had a lagoon view, and it was amazing, but I would trade even lagoon view for SV CL ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. We loved CL and I can't imagine not staying CL in future.

Steph:

Don't take this the wrong way. I am not criticizing you or your DH but rather the whole world that doesn't understand those or us who plan everything. I'm using your post as an oppurtunity to rant about something that's bugged me for a long time.

What I don't get is what is so wrong with planning these vacations out? I mean, these are the things that we and our kids and whoever is attending is going to remember 20, 30, 40 years down the road. Going on these vacations will make a more positive impression on the lives and memories of people than, for instance, making sure that kids brush their teeth or something mundane like that. But "non planners" see this as trivial. It's not trivial.

If one plans, one has the oppurtunity to turn a simple holiday into an experience that everyone in the party will appreciate for a LIFETIME. This is not trivial in the least! When you plan, you have a leg up on the vast majority of people in the park who are pretty much just "winging it".

I also think having a solid plan in place with occasional stops that ensure that your family has to be somewhere at a specific time, you can work in flexibility and allow yourself to deviate somewhat from the plan without ruining anyone's day. Having structure in place ALLOWS flexibility and welcomes it way better than starting by just winging it and then trying to add in some structure! Don't these people understand this?

In my case, I went to my family and found out what everyone wanted. My wife wanted some relaxation on this trip. It was this reason why I decided we would have a sit down or two every day to make sure we stopped, sat and ate a couple of times. It was also this reason that I felt staying club level at the Yacht Club would be perfect because of the benefits of club level and the pool. She did not plan this. I planned this and this is planned relaxation. Without the plan, everyone would be so tense and so on edge all the time because no one would understand what is going on.

Ok, rant over, back to the serenity that is the Yacht and Beach club. I just wanted to take this time out and say "Yey for the planners!"

:thumbsup2

Love this post!

We travelled with family that were not planners, and I know that before we went they thought I was a bit crazy! ;) However, when we came back, I got such a lovely message from them saying thank you for all the work I did, and how I made their vacation magical.

Planning + flexibility = happy vacation!

We are moving over from CR to BC and I have a couple questions: What is the best way to get over there? I am thinking cab and taking all our stuff, DH says let Bell service take the luggage and us take the bus to DHS then the boat to BC. To me that is a waste. Also, how early can we use CL once we check in? I am thinking leaving CR early to try and grab a bite from CL before heading to DHS for the day. Either way we have to get to BC before really going into DHS to get our new keys/dining credit. Why am I stressing over this?

I would take a cab since it could take close to an hour if you use WDW transportation. (But you can still have bell services transfer the luggage if your DH doesn't want to deal with that). It should only be about $15 to get from CR to BC.

CL lounge opens at 7am- you can use it as soon as you are registered!

Three weeks from today, we will be on our way!!!:cool1:

Can't wait. Got all our documents this past weekend, and now I just need to start packing.

I want to point to your wonderful trip report as an example of starting with hard and fast plans and adding flexibility rather than just "going with the flow" as a Replacement for planning.

I encourage anyone who encounters an anti-planning person to read her awesome trip report.

Well, jeez, that was one of the nicest reply posts I've ever gotten! Thanks so much! :) I planned every day, and had one ADR per day, and had to roll with the punches along the way... Traveling with another family really added another layer, and I know that at a busier time of the year it would have been more challenging, but the crowd levels were low enough that I could sacrifice a lot of my plans and everyone (including me!!) would still be happy. After all, the point is not to see and do everything, but to have a great holiday and create memories for the whole family. Since we've been back, my kids are still getting along better than they ever have because of all the shared fun they had, and that in itself is a gift that I'm thankful to Disney for!

I'm interested!

About how long is the walk from the Beach Club to the Italy pavilion and to the Land pavilion? Regular walking not power walking.

Just trying to get some ideas as I'm trying to finalize our schedule in preparation for making ADR's.

I just realized that someone will have this very soon, right?

As Katesdad mentioned, I post the info when I get it.

I usually check the Build a Better Mousetrip website for the movie listing, it is usually up the first couple of days of the month. If it is available before Monday morning, I'll post it here.

I currently have to rely on others to provide the activities schedule to me for the month. Which reminds me...

Has anyone who is staying club level in June at either BC or YC received a June activities schedule (or requested one) from IPO. If you have one, could you email it to BeachClubDee@yahoo.com

Many thanks!

Just trying to get some ideas as I'm trying to finalize our schedule in preparation for making ADR's.

I find it takes about 81 minutes to get to the Land pavillion - 5 minutes to get to the International Gateway... 5 minutes to stop and look around... 3 minutes to get to England, stop look around take a picture of my son by the phone booth... 5 minutes to quickly deek into the store to see if I want to come back later... 3 minutes to get to Canada... 5 minutes to stop and admire the view of the world across the lake and wait for the crowds to clear to take some pictures... 10 minutes to run up the steps to the Canada gift store and check it out, wondering why Coffee Crisp is special enough be sold at Disney... 5 minutes to walk past Canada and decide which path to turn down next... 10 minutes to go check out Club Cool for a quick sip of soda... 10 minutes to quickly pass through Mouse Gears... 10 minutes to stop and listen to the drummers... and finally 10 minutes to make our way over to the Land.

Oops, I just re-read your question. You asked about regular walking speed and I gave you Disney ambling speed. If you are walking from BC to either location, I'd say 15 minutes will work, without any distractions. ;)

Hello fellow BC/YC dis'ers,
We're 19 days out to our stay at BC. Arriving on my DS 13th birthday and plan on spending a lot of time at SAB :thumbsup2

I originally booked using the summer special but then in my files I found a postcard I had put aside, never thinking we'd be taking this vacation AND staying on property (we own timeshare off site). Would it be worth it to call and ask if there would be a savings with the post card PIN?

Also, since we don't usually stay on site I'm not up to speed with the EMH. Do they still issue wristbands or do you have to show your key card at each ride? If so, should I plan on packing lanyards (I have DCL ones) for ease?

TIA

Does anyone have pictures of their view from a GV room? Not CL...unfortunately.

I'll second this! We are booked in a Yacht Club GV room and I would love to see some photos of the view? :)
