OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Teena -- I'm also checking in at the YC on 6/5-6/9 so I'm wondering if you'll be working during that time. We missed you a couple of years ago when we stayed at the BC (you were visiting your DD). Anyway, if I can't say it in person, I just want to thank you for all your helpful posts and advice. Your knowledge and willingness to help others really helped me to plan our trip a couple of years ago and also our upcoming one. :goodvibes

Not to wish the start of summer away but is it August yet?????

I need my vacation now!!!:hourglass

Honey you're preaching to the choir. :lmao:

Tomorrow starts our Summer Reading at the Library program. I'm in charge of my 40+ teen volunteers (to help sign up and maintain the cards on the 5000+ kids I'll see through the program) plus the YA programming and half the Library aides to boot. I can not wait till fall so I can love my job again. I just keep telling myself when summer is over my vacation is closer.

Hi Teena!

Will you be there after Monday? We arrive again on Tuesday the 5th and I could have swore I read quite awhile back that you were either going to be gone or that your DD/DGD were going to be in Florida for some cruise or something...:rolleyes1

If you'll be around, we'd love to see you again this trip!

And if our schedules don't happen to jibe this trip, let me say how happy I am for you for all that you've had going your way since we last met (improved health, new GD, new S-I-L [iirc]). This board, the YC/BC threads, and many DISers' vacations (ours included) would not be the same without your presence!!!

Hope to see you next week!!!!!

If you are staying until Sunday, yep, I'll see you.

I'll be there every Sunday and Monday now until 6/23 when Jeanne and I head out west to a dude ranch. I'll be off 6/24, 6/25, 7/1 and 7/2. We're leaving the men and Princess Lily home ... just a girls' week at a dude ranch in Buena Vista, Colorado. After the year Jeanne has had in school, she needs a week of no cell phones, no nothing but nature!!

Then Jeanne and Princess Lily arrive on 7/31 and will be here with us until 8/11. We are planning on spending 3 nights at the BC (arriving 8/7) and plan on spending everyday at SAB. Before our stay at the BC, we plan on introducing the Princess to Typhoon Lagoon (at least twice) and a morning at Magic Kingdom. She'll just be 13 months then so but I think she'll love It's A Small World and Peter Pan and maybe a few others.

Thank you so much. It looks like you will be there the days I don't work. I hope you have a wonderful stay with us even if you are on the dark side!

I also think having a solid plan in place with occasional stops that ensure that your family has to be somewhere at a specific time, you can work in flexibility and allow yourself to deviate somewhat from the plan without ruining anyone's day. Having structure in place ALLOWS flexibility and welcomes it way better than starting by just winging it and then trying to add in some structure! Don't these people understand this?

In my case, I went to my family and found out what everyone wanted. My wife wanted some relaxation on this trip. It was this reason why I decided we would have a sit down or two every day to make sure we stopped, sat and ate a couple of times. It was also this reason that I felt staying club level at the Yacht Club would be perfect because of the benefits of club level and the pool. She did not plan this. I planned this and this is planned relaxation. Without the plan, everyone would be so tense and so on edge all the time because no one would understand what is going on.

Ok, rant over, back to the serenity that is the Yacht and Beach club. I just wanted to take this time out and say "Yey for the planners!"

Hello BC/YC fans! I've been away from our thread for several days, so I know I've missed much, but I just stopped by to take a look at the most recent pages.

LL, I entirely agree. Your post perfectly articulates my thoughts regarding planning, and I'm tempted to print it out and hang it on the wall! Planning creates relaxation and allows for flexibility in our family, too. :)

Kelleigh--love the card idea! I will have to hide it from DH, though, as that kind of uber-planning will potentially give him a stroke! :rotfl: (How did he and I end up together?? It remains a mystery...)

Hopefully this works...a photo of my planning wall. This was taken before I made my ADR's and it's been changed slightly. I also have spreadsheets too. I told hubby that the cards are coming with us. He pretty much lets me run with the planning and goes along with just about everything I want to do. :)

Wow! People don't "get" all the planning, but it really makes a difference. You aren't going to be standing in the middle of a park on a hot day arguing about where to go next and how to get there... We've seen some "ugly" moments in the parks when people don't seem to have a plan...

...And then again, that was us in DLP last year (we did not plan to go there so I didn't do any planning... Ugh what a mess!)...;)

Just spoke to my travel agent and upgrading to CL for our trip will be $1000 so looks like we will keep our regular BC GV room with free dining. We already have 10 day park hopper passes we bought on another trip and didn't use. Now to just hope for pixie dust upgrade to CL pixiedust:pixiedust:

I can't imagine going without any plans. Luckily for us, with just the 2 of us and no kids, we can change our minds on whim, so that makes it easier and we never have any breakdowns. My first ever trip was 9 people and only 2 of those were kids. The kids were easy...some of the other adults however were pretty miserable to deal with.

*le snipage*

Hooray! We'll be sure to stop by--the kids keep asking about "my friend who works for Disney that we took the Cherry Mashes to." I do believe we'll make you a tradition, my dear!

:wizard:pixiedust::wizard:

I keep hoping for a magical upgrade to Newport or Nantucket (heck, we'd even go over to the Dark Side for that kind of magic), but it has, alas, thus far eluded us.

Maybe this time---we'll be celebrating our 16th anniversary on 6/8 (by dining at, where else, '50s Prime Time...our date nights have become a family affair *sigh*).

I check in tomorrow! I've been in Orlando the past few days for a work conference, and it's almost over...

I can't wait to experience Beach Club! I'm also looking forward to meeting Teena on Sunday- I'll make sure to stop by to say hello :thumbsup2

Ok, so i finally decided thaqt i am going to stay at beach club. I will not read any more of the other resort boards because i have changed my mind a hundred times. Now my dilemma? We are a family of five with no dining plan. I wanted to stay CL i feel we would get our moneys worth because o no diining plan. The only problem is i really want at least a garden view, but that is not a option with 5 in club level( and i am not getting delluxe room) So my question is would u pass on Cl in order to book garden view, and just use the extra money to buy breakfast snacks and alcohol?

No way!!!

Standard view CL over garden view!!! In a second!

I know. I think that there are plans and then there are "PLANS". My family is a low key kind of family so we map out what parks we want to visit each day, choose TS restaurants that are convenient for those parks and book the ADR's for them as well as any special ones we plan to go to. Once that is done we figure out Must Do attractions and the order that seems best. This is really all the planning we do but it pays off for my family.

We are not the uber planners that some folks are but understand that those folks get a lot more done than we do.

I feel that the folks who want to see and do everything but do not even try to get familiar with WDW are asking for trouble. I would never be able to coral an entire family and point them in the right firection if I was as lost as they were.

Hey everyone! This is our third time staying at BCV, first time as owners! We are so excited! Quick question, we will be there for our daughter’s third birthday. The day before her birthday is our pool/resort day. We we’re thinking of ordering cookies and milk from room service for a bed time snack to end a low key day. But now I am not sure if we can order cookies and milk from room service. Is this an option? TIA!

Lucky!!! All you have to do is drive over! We have a 5-hour flight and all that icky airport stuff to deal with. ;)

I'd make the same choice any day...

That's pretty much what we do -- and it's a far cry from just showing up with no plans, no ADRs, and no knowledge of what's in each park. Friends who do this report back that they don't understand why we have such a fun time at Disney since they find it too stressful. :rotfl:

I think it makes sense -- I've requested "not too close to the lounge" before. I remember when we were at the BC, there was a room right next to the lounge and everytime I saw people coming in and out of it I was thankful that we were down the hall. It's nice to not have to walk that far, but I prefer a quiet room, too.:goodvibes

 We won't feel bad for those near the lounge now that we know they're all early risers! I was so happy with our room last year. We really lucked out with the view, its quiet location and being able to see Illuminations was the icing on the cake. (Well, we really lucked out period. We were upgraded to CL from a GV room. Disney did that on purpose... because we're hooked on the BC and on CL.)

Actually, there is only one standard view CL room with a king bed and it's at the very end of the hallway and real real far away from the lounge so it would be a real quiet room. It's an extra large room too. I love it!!!!!

Thanks, Teena! You are such an invaluable resource on this thread. I've put in a request for "far away from the lounge" along with the existing "king bed" so the rest is in the hands of the room assignors. I'll take a quiet broom closet if necessary. :rotfl: Also, if you're around in September and I'm not feeling exceedingly shy, I'll stop by for a quick hello. I inadvertently had a nice chat with you two in 2010 when our traitorous selves were staying over at the Poly; only upon discovering this thread later on, did I realize who I was talking to. This was all before we were lured away to the wonders of the BC. There's obviously a bit of tricksy, subtle 'Dark Side' antics going on under the 'airy and light' guise of BC...

Visitors beware: BC is one helluva drug!

I don't believe we have you on the Be Our Guest list, but I plan on correcting that momentarily.

:banana::banana::banana:

I'll be there every Sunday and Monday now until 6/23 when Jeanne and I head out west to a dude ranch.

Yay! You'll be there during my stay 6/17 to 6/22. I hope to see you and say thank you for all the love and guidance.
