OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

This is not bc/yc related but I know there are a lot of knowledgable people here. Last time my son flew in an airplane, his ears got blocked and bothered him a lot. Does this happen to anyone's kids....and is there something we can do to prevent it? He was chewing gum but that didn't help. He is 8 now.
Thanks! We are so excited and can't wait for October to come :yay:

my daughter uses earplanes. they sell them at the drugstore
they are like earplugs that help with the pressure

10 days til beach club and 3 sets of earplanes

Pick up some Earplanes for him (found in the ear care section of any CVS or similar pharmacy). They make adult and pediatric sizes. I used them for my infant/toddlers (they've outgrown the problem now) and my adult friend, who has extreme problems with ear pain when flying, swears by them for herself. They definitely work in my experience.

My son used the earplanes, too. I will join in on the recommendation.

I found the child size at CVS, but our local Walmart only carries the adult size.

So, can you really request a certain room with IPO? We are GV CL so I know we will get a full balcony. I just emailed IPO the other day to also request a non handicapped room because we definitely want the double sink outside the toilet area. Should I be even more specific than that?

IPO can give you request to the room assignor but that doesn't guarantee you will get a specific room.

It does not have a full balcony. It is definitely oversized and considered a standard view.

Difference between standard view and garden view is a standard view has a view of a parking lot and/or roof. A garden view has a view of something green.

Thank you Teena :) I appreciate so much your info :) We are checking in late so I'm hoping we will have a daybed for our 5th person, that's really my main concern with having an evening flight.

If you don't get one, just have the rollaway sent up and if that is not something you are satisfied with then tell them you want to change rooms the next day to a room with a daybed. There unfortunately is only one GV CL room with a daybed, 7 lagoon view CL rooms with a daybed but there are 12 standard view CL rooms with a daybed. One way you can guarantee a daybed is to book a deluxe room. There are six of them and they are all oversized and have daybeds. I love those rooms!

As always, Teena has great advice!!!

Thanks for the heads up. I have very poor electronic management practices. I HATE deleting messages.

I feel so stupid, I didn't even realize there were 3 view categories for BC CL. What is the difference between SV and GV? I thought all the non-water views were pretty much the same?? Can someone help me figure out which is which on this map: http://www.disneyzone.net/ResortMaps/bcfourthfloor.jpg Just so I can get a rough estimate of where the rooms are.

We had Room #5648 on our last trip with 5 in September. It was a great room, despite only having a Juliet balcony. It is a large corner room, so there is plenty of light and has an adult sized daybed. My mom said that it was very comfortable. It also has views of Wishes and the higher Illuminations fireworks.

We enjoyed the convenience to the lounge and weren't bothered by any noise from there....however, we are early risers and were often the first ones in for breakfast. My kids can't stay awake for the fireworks, so they're up at the crack of dawn!

Somewhere in the middle of this thread, I posted pics of the views from the room. If you are interested, I can repost them. :)

No worries, we'll be right across the lake at BWV, wearing my mickey ears and cheering on the USA in London a ESPN Zone! I promise to come back with lots of stories and hopefully a few pics. Talk to you all soon!

Unless SAB policy changed today, no, that information is incorrect. Guests are not allowed. There is no such thing as a pass. We deal with this issue every day and there is no pass and guests are definitely not allowed.

The CM might have meant that let's say there are three of you in the room and the room allows five. If you tell them at check-in that you have a guest coming, you can add that guest to the room and therefore get a key. But you need to do that when you are checking in. If it is an extra adult and there are two adults in the room already, you will be charged that extra adult fee for every day of your reservation. There is also a thing called a day guest. You can add a person to your room as a day guest for one day only but the key a day guest gets does not allow them to go to SAB. We had the issue last weekend and the guest decided since they were there five nights and the friend was just coming one night, the extra adult charge would be for five nights and that was too expensive just to use SAB one day. So, they went to the small pool instead (where guests are allowed).

No, the cm specifically said a guest visiting me at the hotel that they would give a pass to. I have 5 people staying in my room so to get an extra room key would exceed the occupancy. I was only posting cause I found it interesting that I was told this on checkin. I have been staying here for well over 10 years and know the policy. Plus it is posted as you enter SAB.

I would never try to get anyone in the pool that was not staying here. I guess I was surprised that the cm in training told me this while the trainer was listening to him.

Like I said, he was wrong and the trainer was wrong. I've already passed this on and it will be taken care of. If they gave you the wrong information, they probably are giving others the wrong information too and that will just create nothing but problems for all the CMs at the Y&B.

I think I can "Help" you with this.... ;)

If we gather up a few of those Day Beds from the Yacht Club and a roll-away bed or two we should have you covered. Now we have to work out where to put you.

The Solarium might be good BUT all those early birds getting coffee and croissants might be too perky and wake you up too early.

The covered walkway between the BC and the BCV might be good and you'd get plenty of patio space but there is no plumbing and if it rains you're going to get wet.... so that's out!

There is the lobby right by Cape May Cafe. This is a good location because you'll be the first in line for your breakfast ADR and you can sleep in right up until the hostess takes you to your table... BUT they frown upon wearing your jammies to the restaurant so that might not work.

I've heard that the bus stop is covered at deluxe resorts so that might be an option BUT then all those little kids jumping on your roll away bed while they wait for the bus might not be the best thing.

There is the boat dock where the light house is. If you are in to night lights this might be the place for you BUT I've read recently that the light bulb is burned out so that's a no go.

That only leaves Storm Along Bay. I'm thinking that platform that is at the top of the slide. Now keep in mind the beds are gonna be a bear to get up all those steps but the trip down is going to be a record setter. Just make sure you bring your room key on the way down so you can get a wrist band!

Have a FANTASTIC TRIP!!! :beach:

When staying on the Dark Side (aka YC) in a GV room, the only request you need is "Wedding Gazebo View". It says it all right there. DO NOT DO EXPRESS CHECK-IN. Ask the front desk staff when checking in where your room is. If it isn't with a view of the gazebo, ask to be moved to one. If one isn't available the day you check in, it is worth the aggrevation of moving the next day to one. Nothing like sitting on the balcony and watching the bride arrive in the horse drawn coach and walking up to the sounds of a violin playing When You Wish Upon a Star to her groom standing there with family all around. Makes a memory you don't soon forget.

Thanks Katesdad and all who answered my question. :goodvibes

We'll be staying at YC Aug. 20-25 after a one night at ASMo. Crossing those two off the list will leave me with two left to stay at all (non DVC) the WDW hotels. Favorite so far? Beach Club!!!

I know, I know!

I cleared a couple of spots!

My DH has tried for years to get me to clean up my (email) inbox but I think he has just given up and closes his eyes when he gets close to my computer.

Speaking of DH- he has already left for work, but I'll ask him your question when he gets home.
