OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Interesting piece of information I received and thought I would post. Just checked into the YC today. When the cm checking me in came to give me the info about SAB, I was told all members of my party needed their room key. Ok, something I already knew, then he proceeds to tell me if I have guest coming to visit me I can just go to the front desk and get them a pass to swim too. Never heard that before and have stayed here multiple times. I would not bring guests with me but just thought it was interesting that they told me that at checkin. It was a cm in training but the person training him was standing there listening.

Must be a new policy :confused3

Unless SAB policy changed today, no, that information is incorrect. Guests are not allowed. There is no such thing as a pass. We deal with this issue every day and there is no pass and guests are definitely not allowed.

The CM might have meant that let's say there are three of you in the room and the room allows five. If you tell them at check-in that you have a guest coming, you can add that guest to the room and therefore get a key. But you need to do that when you are checking in. If it is an extra adult and there are two adults in the room already, you will be charged that extra adult fee for every day of your reservation. There is also a thing called a day guest. You can add a person to your room as a day guest for one day only but the key a day guest gets does not allow them to go to SAB. We had the issue last weekend and the guest decided since they were there five nights and the friend was just coming one night, the extra adult charge would be for five nights and that was too expensive just to use SAB one day. So, they went to the small pool instead (where guests are allowed).

Hi Teena :goodvibes We must have posted at the same time! Just stopping by to see what's new!

My plan is now laminated. There can be no more changes :rolleyes1

15 sleeps until Florida and 23 sleeps until Yacht Club 28 sleeps until our Gazebo Wedding :bride:

Lamination..... I am impressed.

Thanks for the suggestions, natebenma. It certainly takes away from the Disney "magic" when you hear, "He's touching me." or "I don't have any covers." throughout the night. :sad2:

BTW- I have you on the noodle list, but not on the guest list. Would you like to provide your dates?[/QUOTE]

We'll be there from Aug. 1 through Aug. 4. :cool1:

I agree with Dee. 1 month and 1 day is a long time to have to hide a body. That is a much bigger problem than creating a fake luggage tag.

:rotfl2:

Man. Skip reading 1/2 day ya'll are talking about hiding a BODY! Going back now......

I don't think the luggage tags are going to be an issue. I think your DD will be distracted by the hidden body until you leave for your trip.

Too funny Dee :rotfl2:

Sooooo DH and I went to an event called Wines in the Wild. It was a fundraiser for the zoo. You pay to get in and then all sorts of wineries, breweries and restaurants offer samples. I was the DD so DH was happily sampling all sorts of great beer.
On the way home I casually said to a happy DH " Want to go to the Beach Club this weekend?"
Instead of rolling his eyes he says " ahhhh, we can't this weekend, but isn't there an AP discount in August?"
So I reply "why yes, it's starts August 15th"
He says"well check it out"

Now I am not sure it will happen, but just the possibilty of a quick few days has me super excited :wizard:

Now THAT is pure genius!! :worship:

I am so running out and buying my DH a 6 pack of some dark German schloggy type beer and getting him drunk and on the Disney reservation site!

As for laminating the "Master Plan" I can tell you that I too am guilty of that crime. I have discovered that a "Sharpie" Marker can write over the laminating film, which I had to resort to in an act of last minute desperation.

As for the Beach Tags (my name for the Beach Club Luggage tags!) I would tell the unsuspecting that Disney changed their procedures and then send them away with some distraction while you attach them at the last minute before you hand them over to the gate attendant at the airport. It might just be the simplest way to handle the problem...

In other airplane news I have purchased our tickets on Southwest. I have been watching airfares on SW and I've come to the conclusion that you can save 1/3 off of their non stop flight if you switch to a 1 stop or a 1 stop and switch planes type of flight. This is not something I'm thinking is wise, especially during the 2nd week in December when the weather can be a factor. We are paying $184 each for the flight down and $184 each for the flight home. Times five people that can really add up but maybe the kids (3 teens) can all sit in one seat ;) I'll keep my peepers open to see if that price gets better but for now Orlando and WDW here we come!

Just love reading here! Can't wait to check into YC next month. :goodvibes: I have sold DH on the trip as a relaxing resort vacation. Sleeping late, chilling at SAB and wandering over to Epcot or DHS if we feel like it. Late dinners scheduled most evenings. Very different from my typical style. ;)

Can anyone suggest a room request for a GV room? Does this level of room have full balconies? I'd like to be convenient to an exit to the walkway leading to SAB.

Any help will be appreciated!

PS I have purchased our own "noodle family". Can I leave them behind for anyone?

Raises hand - "I know, I know" I don't know much about the BC/YC having only stayed once (last year,) but almost all of the YC rooms have balconies (unlike the bc where I think it's about half.) Our garden view last year overlooked the wedding gazebo and also we could see the lake and lighthouse - it may have been an upgrade that I didn't know about to water view, but I loved it - it was very near the elevators and I thought it was the perfect place to be.

We will be at the Beach Club in our first ever CL room from Aug 23 thru August 28th!!! I am having trouble concentrating on anything else and am driving my DH nuts!!

Can someone tell me about the noodle swap? We love noodles but I can't figure out how to bring them with us on the plane!

:welcome:

:cool1:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

Officially booked! September 8-15 at BC! :-). 45 days and counting!

Officially welcoming you! :welcome:

:yay:

I'll put you on the list!

Hi everyone! I hope it's okay to join back in:tiptoe: ;) (we were supposed to be staying at the BC this past April but ended up switching at the last minute). We're back on for next April - just got our airline tix this Sunday so it's real!! We're going to do a few nights at POR first (DD is in love with the royal rooms) then six nights at BC. We haven't been to BC since 2008 and we can't wait!

:welcome: back!

I'll put you on the list for next April

:goodvibes

I'll add you to the list for August if you wish. What are your dates?

I have never stayed at YC, so I am not sure what to recommend for a request, but a lot of YC fans request "Overlooking wedding gazebo" when staying GV, but if being close to SAB is your priority, you may want to request "Close to Stormalong Bay"

As another poster indicated, you should be all set with a full balcony.

As your trip is approaches, either check the Guest List on Page 1 or post here to see if any of the families staying after you want to take possession of your noodles.

Uh oh, how did I miss this??

I checked in online on Sunday, for a Garden View room. I requested a full balcony on the Epcot end. Any time I've made a similar request at the Poly, it's been met.

Anyone think I'll have an issue?

I don't know if it will be an issue but the recommendations from those far wiser than myself on all things BC said online check-in was more for those who are happy with just getting the room they booked and not worried about requests. Better put they said it's easier to get your room changed, if your requests were not met initially, if you check in when you arrive rather that doing it online. Since last year was my first BC stay and I had no expectations, I made no requests and did online check-in. Now does this mean your requests won't be met? I would have to let the wise ones answer that one!;)

Just clarifying these posts (sort of)- I'm not sure if doing online checkin makes it more likely to have you assigned to a room that meets your requests, but as cmcadoo66 suggests, checking in when you arrive gives you the opportunity to discuss the room you were assigned, and to see if there are other options once you arrive.

Alice, although you have done the online checkin, I would ask the CM who gives you the package if your room requests (balcony, location) were met before you go there.

Here are the posts from the FAQ on Page 1:

How do I make a request on my reservation? How many requests should I make? What should I request?

You should note any requests on your reservation through Disney's CRO (Central Reservation Office) or your travel agent can add it when your trip is booked, or anytime thereafter. Requests should be made no later than 2 weeks before you will arrive at the resort.

Please remember that requests are not guaranteed.

The fewer requests you have, the more likely there will be a room available that meets your most important preference(s).

Your best bet is to request what you want in words, not room numbers. The chance that a particular room will be available during your trip is not as likely as finding a room that satisfies your room preferences. If you request a specific room, and there is someone staying in the room on the day you check in, the room assigner will have to place you in a different room. If they don't know what your priorities are, they will have trouble giving you another room that has the attributes you want.

When you arrive at the resort for checkin, you can ask before you take your keys if your requests were granted, and if not, see if there is anything available that meets your needs. Please note that you should do this through REGULAR checkin.

Online checkin is designed for grabbing your keys and going, no questions asked, so if there is a possibility you will ask for a room change, you shouldn't do this.

Requests vary because what is important to one family may be different for another family. Some popular requests are full balcony at the Beach Club, a day bed, close to lobby (or elevator or Stormalong Bay), close to Concierge Lounge (if you are staying club level) or close to EPCOT.

Should I checkin online in advance or wait until I am at the resort?

As noted in the responses above, if you don't have any questions and if you are going to just grab your keys and go, then you are great candidate for the online checkin. If there is a possibility that you will ask for a room change because you are not satisfied with the one that has been assigned to you, then you should wait until you arrive at the resort to check in.

After the recent topic of our posts here, I'm going to start calling them "Toe Tags"

When staying on the Dark Side (aka YC) in a GV room, the only request you need is "Wedding Gazebo View". It says it all right there. DO NOT DO EXPRESS CHECK-IN. Ask the front desk staff when checking in where your room is. If it isn't with a view of the gazebo, ask to be moved to one. If one isn't available the day you check in, it is worth the aggrevation of moving the next day to one. Nothing like sitting on the balcony and watching the bride arrive in the horse drawn coach and walking up to the sounds of a violin playing When You Wish Upon a Star to her groom standing there with family all around. Makes a memory you don't soon forget.

Thanks, that's what I'll do.

To be honest, any room will be fine... we're pretty easy to please. The location is absolutely "get what you get and don't get upset." I would like the full balcony, since I'm an early bird and love that time alone with someplace to be--turining on lights at 5 am is likely to produce a very grumpy family! So I'll ask.

I do appreciate all the wonderful things I've learned on this thread.. many thanks to all for sharing your knowledge!!

Welcome mmtwinmama!!!! Hope you have a wonderful trip and enjoy summer at BC!

Just a few suggestions - we usually head to a park right away so that we're not waiting for our room. And as much as we love SAB, we find it more fun and relaxing later in the day when we are in our room and have a home base. So on arrival day, you might consider having your "park bag" ready to go, checking in and heading out to a park. For us, that would be Epcot because it's close and easier to enjoy in the afternoon. (OK, and I've always been an Epcot girl and started there first since childhood, so I'll confess there is some nostalgia involved!) We're huge fans of MK in the early morning at rope drop, but tend to avoid it in the afternoon. But lots of guests (including Dee and family!) love to start their trip that way!

As for the fastpasses, I've used the lines app several times and don't find it reliable enough on the return times to prompt a fastpass run into another park. Just something to consider!
I agree about being wary of depending on the Lines app for Fastpass wait times. I love Lines but I believe their Fastpass reports are estimates based on historical trends, not any kind of report from the parks. When I went in December and March, the FP times were way off from what they actually were in many cases.

When you enter through IG is there some sort of board that will show what the FP return times will be? Or would I have to walk all the way to Soarin?

I am an early riser too, so I can appreciate the need for a balcony before the rest of the family wakes up.

Not that I am aware of. But what a great addition that would be!!! Probably would not go with the World Showcase theming though. :guilty:
