OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

When you enter through IG is there some sort of board that will show what the FP return times will be? Or would I have to walk all the way to Soarin?

No Tip Boards close to IG. You'll have to walk to Soarin'. You can also download one of several Disney Apps that will give you a rough estimate as to when the FP times are.

As far as noodles go. They really don't take much room in your suitcase IF you fold them up like a pretzel. I do that all the time and pack them in the suitcases when we got somewhere with a pool.

Oh I am sooo going to say to my DF fold it up like a pretzel :rotfl2:

How old is she?

I don't think the luggage tags are going to be an issue. I think your DD will be distracted by the hidden body until you leave for your trip.

As for the Beach Tags (my name for the Beach Club Luggage tags!) I would tell the unsuspecting that Disney changed their procedures and then send them away with some distraction while you attach them at the last minute before you hand them over to the gate attendant at the airport. It might just be the simplest way to handle the problem...

After the recent topic of our posts here, I'm going to start calling them "Toe Tags"

You guys are killing me! :rotfl2: (Oops, no pun intended :rotfl2:)

She's soon to be 11, and absolutely nothing gets by her. I'd need an advanced degree in graphic arts to produce a fake tag that she'd fall for. I've hidden the toe tags away, and I'm going to slip them on last minute and hope the excitement of the trip has her distracted!

Great Dee!! My family already wonders about my sanity...........now when our next set of "luggage tags" arrive, and I'm laughing alone in my room........they may have me taken to a "very special place"!!

Hi all I had a question.. I have a standard view CL room booked for Sept, what kind of view is possible with this?

TIA

Now THAT is pure genius!! :worship:

I am so running out and buying my DH a 6 pack of some dark German schloggy type beer and getting him drunk and on the Disney reservation site!

As for laminating the "Master Plan" I can tell you that I too am guilty of that crime. I have discovered that a "Sharpie" Marker can write over the laminating film, which I had to resort to in an act of last minute desperation.

In other airplane news I have purchased our tickets on Southwest. I have been watching airfares on SW and I've come to the conclusion that you can save 1/3 off of their non stop flight if you switch to a 1 stop or a 1 stop and switch planes type of flight. This is not something I'm thinking is wise, especially during the 2nd week in December when the weather can be a factor. We are paying $184 each for the flight down and $184 each for the flight home. Times five people that can really add up but maybe the kids (3 teens) can all sit in one seat ;) I'll keep my peepers open to see if that price gets better but for now Orlando and WDW here we come!

Yes I have found that German Schloggy beer works best :drinking1
I don't recommend drunk- just enough to get them to that happy, peaceful, content stage ;)
Don't know if its happening yet. The weekend that works best there is no room at the inn:sad2: Could switch to the Dark Side :darth: or possibly weekends but its going to take a little more work. May have to wait :scared:

Hard decision. I want :beach:

Sounds like you need more beer and an additional reason.

Tell DH that you have been tasked with doing a survey to compare the YC to the BC. Tell him that tens of thou... check that, tens of tens of people are waiting for your report. IF they don't get it THEY MAY PERISH!!!

That should do it.

If this doesn't reveal his humanitarian side then break out a Lifetime channel movie or two to soften him up! (Beer usually necessary for guys and Lifetime movies!!)

Good luck!

"You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day."

I think it may be time to head on home and do some more planning :joker:

This information comes with a disclaimer- I am actually a proponent of standard view rooms. It is not worth it to me to pay extra for a room view, but I do enjoy a full balcony, no matter what it looks out on.

You will be overlooking a parking lot and/or rooftops, but I don't always find that to be objectionable. Many of the SV overlook the parking lot in the front of the Beach Club or you will be looking at the BCV.

Here was our view from BC CL SV in 2010

Center View- Big Old Tree blocking the parking lot view:

The really cool thing about this room is that we could see some of the Illuminations fireworks and a lot of the higher fireworks from the MK Nightastic show.

So that is a possible view from a SV room.

Your mileage may vary.

Dee, your post is just in time! I know you've posted this before, and I was about to go searching for it. We currently have a GV room booked at BC for October, but if AP discounts appear, we'll switch to CL. It's just too darn convenient for the five of us. (And it increases the chances that my husband will agree to return!) I love a nice view, but for a family of five in BC CL, it's either standard view CL or deluxe CL. To keep costs reasonable, we'd probably go with standard CL. Of course, mileage always varies, but I needed a reminder that it might be OK!

Glad I could help!!!

We were upgraded to a water view during our first trip to the BC, and don't get me wrong, we LOVED it!!! Mark still talks about the incredible people watching since we were overlooking the back entrance/courtyard of the resort. (Actually, it may have been a GV, but at the time, there was just SV and WV). But it is not worth the extra money to me to pay for the view.

Most of the time when I am out on the balcony is O-dark:30, so I can't really see a whole lot anyway. And with my family's style of touring, we just don't spend that much time in the room.

I hope when the rates come out you will be able to switch to CL SV!!!

Yes tens of tens of people do NEED me to undertake this task:scratchin
I think you may be on to something with Lifetime Movies. I could declare that Lifetime in the only channel allowed in the house until the task is booked. That may get him to agree real fast:laughing:

See, look at that--problem solved! ;) There is no challenge too big to overcome for the guests at the BC/YC thread. :rotfl:

When staying on the Dark Side (aka YC) in a GV room, the only request you need is "Wedding Gazebo View". It says it all right there. DO NOT DO EXPRESS CHECK-IN. Ask the front desk staff when checking in where your room is. If it isn't with a view of the gazebo, ask to be moved to one. If one isn't available the day you check in, it is worth the aggrevation of moving the next day to one. Nothing like sitting on the balcony and watching the bride arrive in the horse drawn coach and walking up to the sounds of a violin playing When You Wish Upon a Star to her groom standing there with family all around. Makes a memory you don't soon forget.

Now, I will say that before I read this, I was totally fine with whatever I got upon check in at the YC. I mean, it's Disney (and the YC!), right? But you make that sounds soooo awesome. We booked CL GV for December...Gazebo View would still be an option for that level, right?

This is not bc/yc related but I know there are a lot of knowledgable people here. Last time my son flew in an airplane, his ears got blocked and bothered him a lot. Does this happen to anyone's kids....and is there something we can do to prevent it? He was chewing gum but that didn't help. He is 8 now.
Thanks! We are so excited and can't wait for October to come :yay:

We take pseudoephedrine before every flight because of our ears. Son's Dr. agrees with this approach. It helps to keep the sinuses open. Also you might tried a lollipop for your son instead of the gum. Something for him to suck on.

I feel so stupid, I didn't even realize there were 3 view categories for BC CL. What is the difference between SV and GV? I thought all the non-water views were pretty much the same?? Can someone help me figure out which is which on this map: http://www.disneyzone.net/ResortMaps/bcfourthfloor.jpg Just so I can get a rough estimate of where the rooms are.

Thanks for the suggestions, natebenma. It certainly takes away from the Disney "magic" when you hear, "He's touching me." or "I don't have any covers." throughout the night. :sad2:

BTW- I have you on the noodle list, but not on the guest list. Would you like to provide your dates?

We'll be there from Aug. 1 through Aug. 4. :cool1:[/QUOTE]

Hi teachermom2boys,
I sent you a PM re: the noodle hand-off! Not sure if you got it. We will be at BC on the 4th. We'll be checking in at around 3:00-3:15. Just let me know if the noodles will be back with bell services and what name they're under.
Enjoy your stay!!
Thanks,
Kerri

Also does anyone know if room #5648 has a balcony? The lady I spoke with in the IPO suggested that room for us because we have 5 people and it looks oversized, but if it doesn't have a balcony that wouldn't be too good. Plus it looks like it might be super noisy being next to the lounge and elevators. Now I'm tempted to call her back and say thanks but no thanks on that room. But I hate to be a pain, mainly I just really want us to have a daybed and a balcony. Which I'm thinking isn't going to happen :(

It does not have a full balcony. It is definitely oversized and considered a standard view.

Difference between standard view and garden view is a standard view has a view of a parking lot and/or roof. A garden view has a view of something green.
