OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Good luck with your room switch/not switch today! Sounds like you have a good one right now, my kids are "adults" and I know it can be cramped with 4 of us, let alone five. The patio sounds great! Enjoy your trip, so jealous!

If you have a second, when you walk by the PhotoPass station outside the Marketplace, will you ask them if I can turn in my PhotoPass Plus voucher there for my PP+ card? I know there are a couple of places in some resorts that do it, hoping BC is one of them!

Thanks!
Linda

I'm here!!!!! This is a beautiful resort! I never want to go home!

We did have an issue with our room. Now, we have 5 people in our family, OK? All five are on our resort reservation. We get to our room in the desired location (closest to IG) and its gorgeous....full view overlooking quiet pool and crescent lake, full balcony..... Stunning! Until I look over and there is no daybed. :( not good...not good at all. So I call the front desk and was told we could get a rollaway but we wanted a daybed. So they moved us to a new room but it wasn't quite ready yet. While waiting, we move all of our carry-ons with us to the pool. Fabulous pool, btw! I get a text saying our new room is ready. Great! Off we go!

When we got to our new room, it was a MESS! There was a fan on the carpet with a funky smell, stuff on the floor, dust on the furniture, duvet not on bed, used towels .....completely unacceptable! So I immediately call my friends at the front desk. She apologizes and said a new room will be given to us but it won't have a daybed since all of those rooms are taken, ours will have a rollaway She can't move is to YC either. So, Priscilla said we will move into a temporary room for tonight, then get moved to another room in the morning. The location of this room is phenomenal. We are on the first floor on an end so we have a patio at the quiet pool. Love it! It is very tight with the rollaway bed out but I don't want to move again! Oh, they also tried to put us in an occupied room. Not good!

despite all the crap, we love it here. I really don't want to move rooms tomorrow because it's our Johnson family Disney Amazing Race! Lots to do! Should I request to stay in this room or should we make the change. We sat in the hallway outside room #2 for an hour in our bathing suits looking like homeless people. It's how I felt and how we looked. I was not a happy camper.

We had a kitchen sink for dinner and we ate most of it! Yummy!

I'm going to bed. I was up at 1am due to storms and excitement. 8am emh at Epcot!

We had an identical situation about 2 years ago. YC CL, party of 5, requested a daybed but didn't get one. We decided to take the rollaway bed the first night and move the next morning to a room with a daybed. It was sort of a pain just because with kids you've got the unpacking and repacking, but we felt we'd have more floor space in the daybed room.

Also I wanted to tell everyone that I asked about the coffee again. They said the lounge only has the Nescafe machine still :worried: but that if I want brewed coffee just to ask one of the castmembers and they can bring me some from the back kitchen that is made from ground whole beans. So that is promising! :thumbsup2

Only 15 more days to wait!!!!!!!!!:banana::banana:

HELP!!!

My DH just gave me a list of 4 all inclusive resorts he wants to try for our annual Easter Break vacation/ anniversary trip ( 1 in cozumel, 1 in Costa rica, 1 in Punta Cana, 1 in Playa del Carmen). Nooooo. Its not that I don't like all inclusive resorts and going to different places but when I look at the cost I think " for that price I can go to BC and there are so many choices of things to do right there :thumbsup2

We have gone on 3 all inclusive trips to very nice resorts but I just think you get more variety and fun at BC and WDW.

I understand what you mean. I do like trying new places, but sometimes I start pricing trips and then think we can go to WDW for this price and know we will love it.

The whole daybed thing remains a mystery to me. For something in such short supply, I never request one (party of 3) and we ALWAYS get one at YC. This past June was our first BC stay and we did not get a daybed....maybe they are more plentiful at YC? I don't know.....

Me too!

We always fly Southwest from Providence, no matter what.....and I've never paid more than I am for our trip next month, ugh. :(
I will be interested to see what kind of flights JetBlue has.

I'm hoping that it will mean some better SW fares to Orlando too now that they'll have more competition from PVD.

Wow! This thread moves at warp speed!!:lmao:

I think I am all caught up. I have been so busy since our trip to Chicago last week that I haven't been able to get on the boards until today.

Only 16 days until we are back at the BC!!

I have done all of the school supply shopping I can do for now so that part of my to do list is done. Next weekend I will start packing clothes for the kids. I will probably wait to do mine until a few days before (might need to shop for a few new outfits:rolleyes1). DH is on his own for packing....if I can pack for three of us I'm sure he can handle his own stuff!:rotfl:

For all that are heading down, have a safe trip! To those who have already arrived, have a fantastic time!!

Is it a fairly easy process to switch from one resort to the other? Will they take care of the luggage and everything, or would we have to take a cab or something and lug it all over ourselves?

We did our first split stay this last year and it was incredibly easy! :thumbsup2
We called bell services when all our luggage was ready, and they were at our room in under 5 minutes. They gave us a tag for each piece of luggage. When we arrived at the BCV later that day, we called their Bell Services, and our luggage arrived in under 10 minutes. I have been told that luggage is not available until after 3 p.m., so if there is anything you need before then, you should keep it with you.

OK, for all of us poor people who aren't at the Yacht & Beach Club right now, here's your picture of the day.....Sunken Treasure included!

Sometimes "warped" speed!

Thanks for sharing that picture!

I may have to add it to the Sunken Treasure Wall of Fame, but I have run out of picture/image space on the Community page.

Oh, wait, just noticed it is a link, so I may be able to add it after all!!!

:welcome:

I don't know the answer to your question about the king beds, except to confirm your suspicion that there are not many. However, if you don't have any other requests, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Per the advice in the FAQ section, do not do the online checkin and ask at the desk whether your room does indeed have a king bed and if not, if one is available at the resort or even later in your stay if you don't mind switching rooms.

Happy Anniversary!

Thanks for advice...6 days! Can't wait!! And could you add us to the Be Our Guest list? July 27th-31st, YC.

You do not have to add a daybed as a request but you can if it will make you feel better. Families with 5 get first shoot at the rooms with daybeds. Unfortunately, when we are 100% occupied (like now), sometimes we can't get all families of 5 in rooms with daybeds. Then we need to send up a rollaway or worst case scenario, we will move you the next day or two days after you check-in (if you desire) to a room with a daybed when one becomes available.

Unfortunately, you can't book a daybed room like you can't book a king bed room at the Y&B. And lots of families of four ask for a daybed too.

Lots of families would prefer a room with a full balcony and take the rollaway if they can't get both a daybed and a full balcony.

Thanks Teena! We would really love a full balcony so I think I'll take my changes on the daybed. Hopefully since we're coming at the end of August you won't be booked to capacity. We're checking in mid week so I'm not sure if that will help us or hurt us. Also, the first couple days (8/22 - 8/25) are booked separately from our package so I'm hoping we can stay in the same room for the entire time.

Is the rollaway large enough for an adult to sleep on?

When I was in college and we needed another bed for a guest we would do a raid on the lounge and steal, I mean relocate a sofa. pirate:

Perhaps some of us need to do a commando type raid and "borrow" some of the daybeds at the Yacht Club..... ;)

Who's in for this mission? I'm sure the noodles would love a visit from us during the brief time we are locked in the Bell Services closet before the Police arrive to come and take us away!

Arrrgh! pirate:
