OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

My fiance and I are officially booked to stay at a Beach Club Studio Villa from February 18th-24th, 2013! We are going on a 2-week Disneymoon and I wanted more than anything to stay there for the first part of the trip before we head out on the Disney Dream. :woohoo: I have a couple of questions though...

1) We will be actually arriving in Disney World on the 17th and are planning to stay at the Art of Animation Resort for one night. Is it a fairly easy process to switch from one resort to the other? Will they take care of the luggage and everything, or would we have to take a cab or something and lug it all over ourselves?

2) Any suggestions on room requests to make? I would prefer to have a water view and be a little closer to the lobby, but water view is the big one.

Thank you in advance and I am so excited for this trip!

Experts, are there any good requests at BCV? This is our first time staying there and not sure if any areas are better than others? (I know none of the rooms have amazing views, right?)

BCV is not really known for its views. It really depends on what you prefer and would consider good, but basically from what I have seen, the views are of the woods, a little grassy courtyard area or the pool. Some pool views give a partial view of the water area that you cross over to catch the park busses. We've had both views of the pool and the woods - one that was literally all trees and one that had a partial view of Epcot high fireworks. If you check out this site http://www.parkinfo2go.com/dvc-bcv/
you can get a decent idea of what your view might be, and word your request accordingly.

Congrats on the Disneymoon InNeverlandWithPan! What a great place to stay. :)

HELP!!!

My DH just gave me a list of 4 all inclusive resorts he wants to try for our annual Easter Break vacation/ anniversary trip ( 1 in cozumel, 1 in Costa rica, 1 in Punta Cana, 1 in Playa del Carmen). Nooooo. Its not that I don't like all inclusive resorts and going to different places but when I look at the cost I think " for that price I can go to BC and there are so many choices of things to do right there :thumbsup2

We have gone on 3 all inclusive trips to very nice resorts but I just think you get more variety and fun at BC and WDW.

We are staying at the YC and I booked the Backstage Magic tour. I need to check in for the tour at 8:45 at guest relations outside the front of EPCOT. EPCOT opens at 9 AM. I called WDW tours and was told that the international gateway will not be open for me prior to EPCOT's opening, so I have to find my own way to the front of EPCOT.

I was told my options are taking a bus from YC to the TTC and then the EPCOT monorail or take a cab. The WDW tour CM said that when I check into YC to ask to speak to the YC manager and ask them for help on getting to EPCOT's front entrance.

I think the cab is the way to go, taking a bus to TTC-Monorail option seems ridiculous and would take forever.

Anyone got any other ideas or how to get a cab at YC at 8:30 AM?

I think you should be able to get into Epcot at the International Gateway by 8:30 at least. The CMs at the entrance have a list of those with early dining reservations at Akerhaus and those doing tours. I would ask on the Parks forum to make sure but we've gotten in early for breakfast.

I am so insanely jealous

Have funpixiedust:

I'm sorry!!!

I will take a little bit of all my fellow Disers with me. I'm hoping to stop by the Dis meet on Sunday. We have an ADR at Biergarten at 6:00 though. :( I fear we will miss everybody. But we will stop in after dinner and see if anyone is around.

I'm here!!!!! This is a beautiful resort! I never want to go home!

We did have an issue with our room. Now, we have 5 people in our family, OK? All five are on our resort reservation. We get to our room in the desired location (closest to IG) and its gorgeous....full view overlooking quiet pool and crescent lake, full balcony..... Stunning! Until I look over and there is no daybed. :( not good...not good at all. So I call the front desk and was told we could get a rollaway but we wanted a daybed. So they moved us to a new room but it wasn't quite ready yet. While waiting, we move all of our carry-ons with us to the pool. Fabulous pool, btw! I get a text saying our new room is ready. Great! Off we go!

When we got to our new room, it was a MESS! There was a fan on the carpet with a funky smell, stuff on the floor, dust on the furniture, duvet not on bed, used towels .....completely unacceptable! So I immediately call my friends at the front desk. She apologizes and said a new room will be given to us but it won't have a daybed since all of those rooms are taken, ours will have a rollaway She can't move is to YC either. So, Priscilla said we will move into a temporary room for tonight, then get moved to another room in the morning. The location of this room is phenomenal. We are on the first floor on an end so we have a patio at the quiet pool. Love it! It is very tight with the rollaway bed out but I don't want to move again! Oh, they also tried to put us in an occupied room. Not good!

despite all the crap, we love it here. I really don't want to move rooms tomorrow because it's our Johnson family Disney Amazing Race! Lots to do! Should I request to stay in this room or should we make the change. We sat in the hallway outside room #2 for an hour in our bathing suits looking like homeless people. It's how I felt and how we looked. I was not a happy camper.

We had a kitchen sink for dinner and we ate most of it! Yummy!

I'm going to bed. I was up at 1am due to storms and excitement. 8am emh at Epcot!

Wait until tomorrow morning when you wake up and then call the front desk and let them know what you want to do. If you think you'll be comfortable with the rollaway and you like your present room, then stay put. Very sorry for all your inconvenience today!!!

It is a shame that you have been having some issues with your room, but I love how happy you still seem to be! So many people would let this ruin their trip. I think you should wait until the morning to decide about moving rooms.

Hmmm we have 5 in our family and I didn't request a daybed since I thought we would just get one. I need to get on the phone and add the request. We really want a full balcony so that's the only request we made. I guess full balcony will get bumped to second on the list!

(sorry, my double quote didn't work.....)

Problem is that the groups assemble outside the front entrance to Epcot so that's really why going through IG won't be of any help. We took a cab to Epcot from the YC. Cabs are sitting out front just waiting for you to get in. Keep the receipt. When you get back to the YC, go over to the concierge desk and give them the recipt. They will credit your room for the cost of the cab ride (plus tip). It's easy, it's fast, and it's convenient and it's not a problem. Enjoy the backstage tour!!

:welcome: and congratulations on your upcoming wedding and fantastic Disneymoon trip.

:cool1:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

Unfortunately, others will have to answer your questions about switching resorts (I think it is easy, but I have never done it) and about BCV. I know a couple of experts have already given replies.

I am lucky and DH shovels but I love snow days! For the first time in 9 years of teaching in Michigan, we did not get a single one last year. It was WEIRD

The Princess will be my first half. I have a chance to do one in October but I want Disney to be my first so I am just doing a 10K then!

So, on to the GREAT NEWS!!! I was able to book us to stay at BCV for race weekend. If it is OK, can you add me back to the list for February 22-25th! I am so excited. Since OKW is not a host resort I was getting so worried but no need anymore. And I get to be like one of the people from Mike's picture!! I cannot wait

:woohoo:

Glad to add you back onto the list!

I'm baaack!

We can't resist SAB and that walk to Epcot so I just changed my August ressie to a Poly/BC split.

Miss Teena, the boys can't wait to see you again! We will be at BC CL from 8/18-8/21. I hope you are working then!:banana::banana:

:yay:

I'll add you to the list.

Hello all, love this thread!

We just booked a last-minute YC stay for the end of the month to celebrate our 5th anniversary. :woohoo:

Does anyone know how many king bed rooms there are at the YC? I requested one but was wondering if our chances are slim on getting one. Also, does anyone have any king room photos? Doesn't seem to be many out there.

:welcome: again!

End of July? Would you like to be added to the Be Our Guest list?

Reservations booked!! September 20th through the 30th BC club level!! So excited!!

:banana::banana::banana:

I'll add CL to your listing.

Gearing up for our first Beach Club stay beginning Sunday (our first non-WL, non-Poly stay and we're psyched!) and have a Mousekeeping question.... I've always just left money on a pillow each morning but DD15 has finally decided that Mousekeeping envelopes are not "lame." She made an awesome one, but my question is:

Do we re-use the same envelope every day or should I take advantage of her newfound artistry and have her make a different envelope for every day? Not sure whether the Mousekeeper takes the whole envelope or just the tip.

On a related note, we're proudly delivering a couple of Dinosaur BBQ sauce gift boxes for the CL concierge staff (we're from Syracuse, NY, so our options were salt, basketball t-shirts or local BBQ sauce). The boxes total less than $75, so they can accept them, right?

All replies are appreciated!

Cheers,

Dave

:woohoo:

Have fun on your trip!

The BBQ sauce gift pack is an awesome idea! Your question about the allowable value of gifts was answered. (Non-cash gifts with a value less than $75 per person are permitted to CMs in non-tipped positions)

That's awesome about the tip envelope for Mousekeeping. I agree with previous posts- a seperate envelope every day. Can you make a copy of the design and paste or print it onto different envelopes?

Don't forget turndown- I usually leave a couple of dollars and a simple, separate note when I leave the room in the morning if I won't be back until the evening (Turndown, thanks!)

You do not have to add a daybed as a request but you can if it will make you feel better. Families with 5 get first shoot at the rooms with daybeds. Unfortunately, when we are 100% occupied (like now), sometimes we can't get all families of 5 in rooms with daybeds. Then we need to send up a rollaway or worst case scenario, we will move you the next day or two days after you check-in (if you desire) to a room with a daybed when one becomes available.

Unfortunately, you can't book a daybed room like you can't book a king bed room at the Y&B. And lots of families of four ask for a daybed too.

Lots of families would prefer a room with a full balcony and take the rollaway if they can't get both a daybed and a full balcony.

I'm here!!!!! This is a beautiful resort! I never want to go home!

*snip*

Just want to say sorry to hear about the problems you had getting an acceptable room! :( Not cool!

Hope you get to stay in your current room if that's what you want to do.

Good luck with your Amazing Race Challenge today! Can't wait to hear how and what you did!

Out of curiosity, what airlines are both of you flying on? And do you fly direct? We usually fly out of Logan even though T.F.Green is closer because we fly Delta and it is one of the few airlines that still maintains nonstop to MCO. It would be good to know that there are other airlines in the region that still have direct flights

I pretty much fly Southwest exclusively, no matter where I'm going. I already booked our flight to Orlando for October, but not a flight back. The return that we want is almost $200 each and I don't want to pay that. I was excited to see JetBlue was coming to Providence, but it's at the end of Nov. and I need the beginning of the month to get home. I did also hear on the news this morning that we should see fall airfares dropping on August 20th, so hopefully our return flight will come in at a really good price. I miss the days of paying $200 for a roundtrip to Florida.

Me too!

We always fly Southwest from Providence, no matter what.....and I've never paid more than I am for our trip next month, ugh. :(
I will be interested to see what kind of flights JetBlue has.
