OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

I was hoping to switch my WL reservation to BC (or at least do a split stay) when the passholder rates came out for September, but the rates were the same as the general public discount and all that was left were CL rooms, so I don't think we are going to be returning to BC this year. I cant really complain because we do love WL and were able to get 35% off with the BB offer when all other discounts for WL are 5-10%. The good news is that we will be back in March and hope to return to the BC. I'll certainly be lurking around this thread until then :) Thanks so much for maintaining this fabulous thread, Dee, and thank you, Teena, for sharing your wealth of information! To all who have a trip coming up soon, have a wonderful time!

We are considering WL for a 2013 trip. Never been there either, but it looks gorgeous. I'll be checking it out in Oct. when we dine at Artist Point. And I'm hoping to snag a bounceback for next year.

I don't think you would be disappointed. Honestly, although they are very different atmospheres, WL and BC are tied for our 2 favorite Disney resorts. WL is breathtaking and I always find it so peaceful, even with all of the kids running around. I figure we will just focus more on MK during our WL trip and more on EP and HS during our BC trip. I'm interested to hear what you think when you check it out!

I'm hoping to do a trip report..possibly even a live trip report since we'll have both a laptop and my Kindle Fire. Our prior 2 trips were at POFQ and CBR. I'd love to visit them all, although not really interested in the Values - except maybe AoA.

Double Digits. Ya Hoo!!!!

I'm booked at POFQ (my second favorite resort) for four nights in Oct. I have decided to make it a week long vacation. I have a friend meeting me for the POFQ leg.

I've decided to give AoA a try for one night before hand. I'm scared of the giant icons but hey it's worth giving it a try and let's face it a Sat night reservation only 3 months out. It was the least expensive option. I"ve done ASMu and it was right about my speed for over themed fun, so not sure how I'll feel about AoA.

I'm also adding two days on the end of the POFQ stay. Right now I'm at POFQ on a seperate reservation, but paying about $400 dollars. Yipes. I'm hoping once fall rates come out I can swing BC (or YC or BCV studio) for around the same price because if I'm paying that much I might as well stay at my Favorite resort, however not holding my breath as F&W fest will limit room availability.

When free dining came out this week, I tried to check it on the website for our dates and it looked like only CL was available for YC. It looks like things are definitely filling up for F&W.

What is the best/quickest way to travel from the beach club to Boma? We have 5:45 ADR. Thanks!:)

Scott, Good choice! I actually was wondering last night what you ended up doing.

We are huge YC fans, but did not want to chime in to say "go to YC" because I feel strongly that the "right" Disney resort choice is to follow what will make you happiest. I hope you love it and that you get a chance to try YC in the future.

Remember to take a zillion pictures of the view! :goodvibes

Great choice! You'll be so happy there. I recently had to do something similar- we were booked for CSR for our August trip, but after a brief weekend visit w/ my sister BC (and the idea planted by Teena when I met her in the lobby!), I knew I wanted to figure out a way to move the August trip to BC. As if just the move to BC wasn't a big enough price increase, there were no standard or garden views available. So I had to dig waaaay deeper, because at that point, I just knew I had to be at BC!

Speaking of August...I seem to remember reading something about the BC fitness room being refurbished in August, but now I can't find the info. Does anyone know about a fitness center closure? Thanks!

Good Job!
It's awesome when you make it a reality and just go for it with your planning. Your instincts are right on the mark and now you can sit back and look forward to what is going to be an amazing trip.

Congratulations! party: :rockband: :charac2: party:

Congratulations on your choice!! You will have a great time, I'm sure, without any regrets! :cool1:

Thank you all! I've felt a weight off today. Why doesn't Disney just give you the discount price right off the bat, so you're not sitting around waiting for them, and then changing reservations and stressing out? Geez. (:rotfl:)

Now, for the room request. I read on the official Disney website, that our view could also be of the quiet pool. Is this true? We'd much rather look out at Crescent Lake or SAB (we actually love the loud music and think SAB is gorgeous at night). DP is also 6'5 and would feel better with a full balcony. So would the room request go something like "Crescent Lake or SAB View, full balcony"? Or should I say in some way that we'd prefer not to overlook the quiet pool? (which I know some people would love, but we like excitement and hustle bustle! :wave2: )

Quickest way would be by cab. Not sure of the fare, but most of the taxi rides we have encountered are around $15 plus tip, each way.

Cheapest way would be to either walk to the front of EPCOT or take a boat to HS and catch a bus to AKL (25-30 minutes, plus wait time for bus, plus transportation time).

We love eating at Boma, and we always plan park time at HS afterwards (EP would work too), and when we are done eating, we take a bus to either of those parks, then return to the Beach Club, usually by foot.

Sounds like the best idea. What about also taking a bus from BC directly to The Animal Kingdom itself, and then bussing it to AKL? We also loved Boma (more than Jiko actually).

Will a half gallon milk fit in a room refrigerator? We plan on doing cereal in the room and doing Garden Grocer. So wasn't sure if I should purchase it from them or just get the milk from the hotel? Thanks!!

Thanks for the tips! I have that day open as far as which park, so one of those options would work well!

Thanks! AK is open til 9 that night so that would work on the way back too!:)

I am at bc now and we have 2 half gallons of milk and 5 waters in the ref. When are you arriving? We have two cases of bottled water left and are leaving on Sunday.

We are leaving this Sunday and have 2 cases of bottled water left. Free to anybody who would like it.

D'OH!!! Why didn't I think of that???

Thank you so much for the info! Unfortunately we don't arrive til Aug. But Thanks for the offer!

I can understand the obsessiveness. Disney trips are stressful! Not only do you want to be sure you'll be happy, you want to make sure those in your party are happy. I'm sure like many of you, your signifigant others, spouses, kids, etc. are looking for a bed to sleep in. By booking a resort like BC/YC/GF, you're asking them to spend a lot of money for a bed! You want them to feel like they've gotten their money's worth! A few years back, over the GF construction, I finally got all worked up and when someone asked me what the big deal is...really, the most honest answer I could give was, "I'm asking...(person A, B, and C) to spend $400 a night for a hotel room and I don't want them to feel ripped off!" That was the essence of it. So believe me, I understand getting worked up when you hear your resort is under refurb, or you missed a promotion or you wonder (like I am right now)...should I switch resorts for a possibly better deal.

Thanks :flower3: I'm glad I'm not alone in my obsessiveness.. which is why I love the folks on this thread so much! :goodvibes

Jenneth, did I ever mention my recent visit to San Angel Inn? After talking about it months ago here on the thread and then reading your report, we gave it another try last April. I requested a table by the water, and with just two of us for that dinner (our youngest son and me) they granted it! We really enjoyed it, and we're actually choosing SAI over La Hacienda when our entire family returns in both October and January. :)

I'm so glad you liked it!!!! We're heading back there for lunch this October, I'm hoping we're lucky enough to score one of those tables, the atmosphere really can't be beat! (Honestly, it can't be beat no matter what your table location is.... though along the water....oh, I can just see it now! Sigh...)

So....

DP and I talked it over last night...over....libations. :drinking1

And after much deliberation, we decided on the following.
(Remember my dillema yesterday? BC-SV-CL or YC-GV-CL?)

In the end, I would love to try YC someday, but I've had my heart set on BC for several years now, and I think I'd spend my whole time at YC wondering what would have happened if I'd stayed at the BC....

So....I'm digging a little (:rotfl:) deeper into the funds, and we upgraded to BC-CL-LV!!! :lovestruc

Yes, it's a bit more money, but the extra money is worth the piece of mind to know I'm going to stay at the resort I want to stay at, with a spectacular view!

So excited!!!

Yay! So glad you made a decision that YOU are happy with. I have to say after a day I'm feeling much more confident about our switch to Poly, though I am equally glad we're also returning to the YC on the same trip!:lovestruc

D'OH!!! Why didn't I think of that???

I didn't either!!! I guess it probably wouldn't work for us on days when AK closes at 5...but maybe I'll get lucky and they will extend the hours a bit in October....:scratchin

On the EMH nights, it's open til 9!
