Okay...I've Called the Late Night DISers, Now I'm Calling the Single DISers (Part 2)

Hope everyone has a Happy New Year...and a better one! I'll leave discussion of the day at that. :(

The party last night was very tame. Only four of us were coupleless. Guess what we did? We sat around talking about internet dating. :earboy2: One of the guys has done Yahoo and eharmony. He has found eharmony to be much better - he said that his experience on yahoo was people just looking for a temporary hook-up. I thought that was interesting coming from a guy. More evidence that there is a time in men's lives when they are just ready to settle down.

Happy New Year!!

Sounds interesting, TigerBear.

Off to the movies. We're on a roll having seen Lemony Snicket yesterday and now headed to The Incredibles. Just can't stand being around the house...I think!

Glad you went to the party any way, TB. Good for you!!

What the guy said about eharmony and Yahoo is interesting! I've been thinking about that today.

Vicki...Things going okay? Been thinking about you the last couple days.

Eharmony keeps sending me matches! One is from a guy who is so hot he could literally be a model. Sandy, I asked the question about dating someone more attractive than me and am basically being told that I am insecure. Oh well, I guess that is what a suspected people would say. :earboy2: The problem with this dude is that he is a motorcycle fanatic. Has been from coast to coast on his bike. When I said "I wish to travel the world" he said "I wish to travel the world on my motorcycle". I just don't think that is a good fit for me.

I hope everyone is doing ok!

I just wanted to share this picture of Boo that my ex sent me. Entitled "Mommy's Girl". :guilty: Is she not precious? She is in snowy sand. I miss her so much. :guilty:

Boo is too cute! What a face!!! :teeth: :) I bet you miss him a lot.

A biker? Might be good for a little fun and adventure.

I saw your thread and have read every reply. :) Interesting what some people's experiences are. I could picture you dating any guy out there, TB, no matter how cute he may be. I think we're more critical of ourselves than others are.

How's the move and the new job going, Legs? :) Today was your first day wasn't it?

Boo looks so cute and happy!

We are back to work/school today in this household. Do I really need to get up this morning? ACK!

I went back yesterday so I feel your pain.

Thanks Sandy.:) I definitely think a biker would be an adventure in the short term. But a lifelong adventure? Don't think that is really for me. The thread is interesting.

I have some friends encouraging me to continue with eharmony. They actually think it would be good for me to meet a lot of different kind of men - even men I typically wouldn't think I could be interested in. Without the pressure of specifically searching for "the one". Still not sure how I feel about that.

CM, check in with us when you get a chance. I've been thinking about you...

Good luck being back at work, ladies! It's tough getting back in the routine after the holidays. DS went back yesterday. He complained that they were "loaded" with homework. LOL! Good! On Weds. they're getting out of school one hour early. Wonder what's up with that. There's nothing on the school calendar explaining that one.

Very true, TB. But someone you don't think is your type might actually surprise you! At least try a "date" or two. If you really don't care for them, then you can forget it with them.

I'm guessing that every one here is busy! Hope all is well.

I am definitely making progress! A friend wanted to go to Empire Cafe today for lunch -which is the place that my ex-bf and I had breakfast on the day we broke up. I wasn't even sad being there. Every other time I have gone into a restaurant we frequented I have been overcome with feelings of sadness and dread. Life definitely does go on. :)

SSB knows exactly what you are talking about TigerBear... all too many places, things, events, that are very strong, and in most ways very positive reminders... hard to move past and not have those big feelings.

Good for you if getting to that phase.

SSB - It is so good to see you posting? :D How are you doing?

Is it just me or is eharmony really not very user friendly? The hottie guy just put me on hold because I haven't "responded in a timely matter". I was waiting for him to write the first email!!! I guess it means it needed to come from me. So if a guy initiates the communication process the woman will always have to write the first email? I don't like that. I'm glad I learned this from him since his motorcycle fascination isn't my thing.

I am really trying to be open but I already have 5 pages of guys I have closed out. Does that happen to you guys too? Lots of matches come your way but not that many you are interested in? I am in open communication with one guy and have sent the first email to two other guys. :D This is so totally different from match. Not sure yet if I like it more...

Well, I made it up here! I'm still not sure I made the right decision! I made my life so stressful! I think to myself why did I do this?
I got the moving truck from a different company (Budget) since U-Haul was still giving me the run around on the actual move day (12/30). Got the Budget truck at noon on move day. Got to Melbourne late that night then had to unload into storage. Thank God for my BIL and brother! But there is stuff I need and have no idea where it is in the storage unit and it is piled to the ceiling.
The very next day (12/31) I had to get up very early to drive the truck back down to return it. It had to be returned to the place by 10am. It was the only way I could get a truck. That was quite an experience driving a 24 ft truck! Then sis and I went back to my house to get more stuff out and clean a little. Got back 5pm New Years Eve, had dinner and was asleep before midnight. Ran around here all weekend doing stuff with my brother since he was here on leave. I was so exhausted I just wanted to stay in my room and unpack. Then started work Mon. 1/3. Then on 1/5 I tripped over a box that a co-worker left on the floor by her desk and twisted/sprained the same ankle I sprained in Oct. It hurt so bad I was crying. I finally got home 6 hrs. later after seeing the employee health nurse, occupational med. doctor, xrays, and getting prescription filled. I was off work today (workman's comp) but am cleared to go back tomorrow.
Plus I've had several problems with dd's school situation.
And I am supposed to go back down to my house Saturday to get the rest of the stuff out and get it ready to sell. May spend the night and sleep on the floor if I don't get it all done.
Not sure about my job either. I just take it day by day.
DD was giving me problems tonight with doing her homework.
After she went to bed I just cried in the shower.

{{hugs}} legs...you have a lot going on right now with the move, the new job and everything else. Hopefully everything will settle down her really soon. It's a lot to do all by yourself. Glad to hear that you and your daughter made it safe and sound as was thinking about you guys.

:grouphug: Legs. It sounds like some move. I'm glad your family helped you. Change is always stressful. I hope that once things settle down you will feel better about everything. I also hope your ankle feels better soon! Lots of good thoughts coming your way. :wizard:

The hottie took me off hold so I sent him a message. He now wants to meet me this weekend. :earseek: Seems fast to me. My friends don't think so. With match is seems like you have so much more demographic information available (marital status, children, educational level, religion, etc.).

Sandy, are you out there? I miss you!

I feel like I am talking to myself (insert crazy smilie). Hottie has now commited one of my pet peeves. I sent him a message yesterday that I could meet him on Sunday at 11 am for coffee. He then sent me a message yesterday at 4:30 (which I didn't read until this morning) that he wanted to meet me last night. I just don't get it. He had given me his weekend schdule and I told him when I could meet him. Why the attempt to meet before then? With just hours notice. I don't like it....I know I need to listen to my instincts.

Happy Saturday to All!

Doing pretty good after this surgery dealee... but surely not able to keep up with my kiddos as much this weekend as usual. Letting them watch "Elf" now, which usually this time of day would have had them out hiking or running around somewhere... haha! I shall be SO psyched though if this dealee does allow me to get back to playing tennis on a regular basis, as have missed it SO much... as had to give up over a year ago due to the pain.

Yikers, Legs22.... some BIG changes in your life, my friend!!! Hope that the transition goes well for you... as NEVER easy, and sounds like some extra challenges thrown in. SSB has always thought that would be a cool place to live (only visited once) and hope that you do end up enjoying it.

Interesting to read about your experiences with eharmony and such. SSB somehow no where near anything like that at this juncture, as just taking time with the kids now and to myself to reflect on some of the issues with last relationship, and the hurts and such.

Hoping everyone having a very nice Saturday, and weekend! :)
