Hello!

We are going to WDW for my DD's 3rd b-day celebration May 2006. My DH, DS (6), DD and myself are going to stay for 1 week and my mom & dad, my sister with her 6mo. old son, and my sis-in-law will all be coming at different times throughout the stay.

My question is this: why does everyone talk about which building to request? I'm reading in the books and their site that they don't guarantee what you get. I'm a little nervous about that -- we're thinking POR right now (stayed at POFQ in 2002 and loved it but want to try a different resort this time) but don't want to end up way out in the boonies (am I spelling that correctly? :) ). I just can't get excited about having a 20 minute walk to my room after a long day at the park. So, if we request a room (building) close to everything, what are the chances we would actually get it? Also, how much of a pain is it to get luggage up to the 2nd floor of AB without an elevator? I'm thinking we'd like that section of POR best (trundle would be nice), but I wish they had elevators. Not just for the luggage -- that's only 2 times during your stay, but also for strollers -- we'll have 2 in our party. So, we'll have to haul everything out each time we go up and down.

Now I'm thinking maybe we should try CSR -- I know they're spread out also but I've read about their internal shuttle. Or maybe go back to POFQ -- we loved everything about that resort.

Please let me know what our chances are of actually getting the building we request. Thanks!

Yes, they are just 'requests', but I have been very lucky each time and gotten at least some of my requests. When I have stayed at POR (one of my favorites by the way) I have been in the 'boonies' in bldg 35 AB, but it was only an 8-10 minute walk to the food court. When we were in Magnolia Terrace it was about 5 minutes. In June we lucked out and got bldg 14 AB, first floor, corner room. Yes, there was a fair amount of foot traffic going by our room because the path to the main bus stop was there as well as the parking lot. But, we faced the back of the bldg that houses the food court, checkin and gift shop!!!
So, I would request a room close to the food court, maybe 14 or 15, ground floor because you have two strollers. They really do try to accomodate you. I have to say that with strollers and luggage I wouldn't want to be on the second level at POR-AB!!!

How far away were you from a bus stop? That's my biggest concern -- that at the end of a long day, I'm going to dread that walk back to my room!

Did you have any problems with the bussing?

Thanks for your help!

When we were in bldg 14, AB, we were so close to the main bus stop that we could hear them coming and going if we were outside the room. I even took a picture of one leaving to show my dh!!! But, you can't count on getting bldg 14....I really lucked out on that one. When we stayed in bldg.35 (I think it was anyway) we had about a 4 minute walk to the bus stop. In Magnolia Terrace it would have been about 3 minutes but we usually just walked over to the main stop by the food court area.
We have yet to have any issues with the buses at POR. After 3 stays there, we have had only good experiences. Yes, the bus does stop at a lot of stops...total of 4 in POR and sometimes the one in POFQ. But, it's just not that big of a deal for us.
I would suggest that you request bldg 14 or 15 in AB. At least you have tried. Or just request a bldg that is close to another bus stop.
