My kids are 8, 6, 11 which restaurant would you choose?? The reason I'm asking is the bad reviews of Ohanas lately are really bad. Now usually I ignore them and choose myself but they are out and out bad:scared1: Being given not cooked food will just turn me, 1/2 the food now isn't being served, being ignored by server ( I know that can happen anywhere), bread that is stale with no butter, burned food, melted ice cream....... I could go on.... My kids aren't into pooh characters but it is a buffet and the kids love those. the characters won't be ignored they will have there pictures done with them. Will we be the only ones though with older kids????

My personal preference is for Crystal Palace. We have eaten there 4 times and I can actually say that we have not had bad service or bad food. Just my two cents! :)

My kids are 9 & 11 and still love CP -- we love Ohana's too -- went there in November & January with good experiences both times. You definitely won't be the only ones with older kids at CP - we've seen lots of them, as well as couples with no kids. Singles, too!

I had 3 14 yr olds and a 12 yr old at CP last spring break. Seemed to be the place they wanted to go that day.

:goodvibes
We've eaten at both, O'Hana's has a "Polynesian" flair to it's
menu...and very good...The Crystal Palace is buffet style...
and my wife & daughter liked it better! It's an all you can eat
restaurant with a "Thousand Acres(Pooh)" character theme.

If your children love the Pooh characters...and who doesn't...
go there! What I liked about the Crystal Palace is it's
location to Cinderella's Castle...within feet of it!

As a suggestion...if you get a "late" reservation(and you'll
NEED a reservation)...let's say 7 p.m. ...the "Wishes" fireworks
go off at 9p.m. ...it'll work out great for you!

Also, should you decide to eat at the Crystal Palace and stay
for the fireworks...position you and your family on the bridge
going over to "Tomorrowland"..."Tinker Bell" will fly overhead
during the fireworks from the top of the Castle...if you look close
enough you'll see the wire used for this!

Have fun...and say hi to the Mouse for us!

Don't worry about being the only ones with older kids, we will be there Easter week with 8 teenage boys ranging in age from 16 - 18! It is not because of the characters (though we do like Tigger so that is a bonus!), it is because it is the best place to feed them. We have done a lot of different buffets at WDW, and I think CP has one of the best. We did eat at O'Hana's a few years ago, but I wasn't as impressed as I thought we would be. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't a place that I feel I need to return to any time soon. We even stayed at the Polynesian last summer and didn't bother to eat at O'Hana's, though we did eat at the Kona Cafe twice.

Have a fun trip!

First I've got to say that one thing I've learned on these boards is that one persons fav is another's worst. We eat at 'Ohana at least once a trip and it is definitely by far our favorite place to eat on property!!

Honestly I would take those reviews with a grain of salt. People tend to post more negative than positive reviews of restaurants, so I'm sure that there are more people who like the restaurant than who don't; they just don't post it. If I had to choose between the two, I would go with the Crystal Palace, but that is just my personal preference. :)

Absolutely do not worry about your kids ages at CP....there is the same mix of ages there as at any meal...absolutely!

My DD13 & DS9 though, would pick "Ohana.
We do so many buffets each trip, that we like this chance to add a family style meal.

We ate at Ohana last week for the first time. Now I am not sure how it stacks up to years previously as it was our first visit, but we absolutely loved it. Our servers were attentive, there was plenty of good and well-cooked food, and we can't find a bad thing to say about that experience. In fact, we are all anxious to go back there on our next trip. The entertainment was a lot of fun for all too! We have been to Crystal Palace for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we like it as well. I would just say that we enjoyed Ohanas much more. Have fun on your trip!

We were to CP in Nov '05 for a great dinner buffet. People of all ages there, including my FIL who turned 68 that day and was coaxed into participating in the birthday parade!
But....we ate at O'Hana for dinner this last trip in June '07 and LOVED it. We were just talking tonight about how much we liked it and how there wasn't anything we didn't enjoy. It's on the kids' (DD6&10) short list for our trip coming up in October.
