O'hana? Really? Really?! SERIOUSLY?!!!

I confess my first thought was, what is wrong with O'hana? After reading it the second time I understood. I was thinking, but I love to eat there. Their dinner is awesome!! Or at least it was back in '09 during our last trip

I cringe every time I see someone using 's to pluralize a word. Did you not learn about apostrophes in school? See it multiple times a day now.

Wonder if I kin git any joolery at O'Hana's for my kid's.

Seen. "I seen the parade". No, you *SAW* the parade. Or you have seen it in the past, but you didn't seen it today.

Would of, could of, should of drives me nuts, too. Oh, and two, to, too. Your, you're ... they're, their, there.

I'm dreading the "peer review" editing we're going to be doing during my 3 English / Composition classes this semester. It's going to look like I massacred a small child next to these essays, judging by the way these people speak in class. :faint:

I'd still prefer Viola :charac2: to Walla. At least they are in the right neighborhood spelling-wise.

As for then & than, sometimes it's a typo. I compare things so much on the DIS to illustrate my point, sometimes I later find out that I've written than instead of then when I really mean then. :headache:

meant not mean.

Anyway, who cares?

One of my biggest is "I could care less". I think what you were going for was "I couldn't care less".

And using I seen, we seen, we was drives me crazy.

I apologize. It's just a huge (and really silly) pet peeve. I would never call anyone out on it as that would come off as rude no matter how diplomatic I tried to be. I just had to vent my frustration so off to the Community Board I went. Whew.

Can't tell if this post makes me feel better or not.

(For those that don't know what the heck I'm talking about... it's 'Ohana.)

What about O'hana? We love eating there.

How people say 'Ohana (or write it) doesn't bother me in the least - I just love to eat there! :)

My pet peeve frustrations are for much bigger things!

I've always thought the meaning of pet peeve is something silly or minor that annoys us.

From herre on out I will always go to O'hannah's and eats some great food for my tummy wummy.
We was gonna goes to be our geusts in MK so we coulds ride dumbo, little mermaid and meet belle. But maybe you'ns guys should go some place else.

Seen bothers me the most. That is followed closely by defiantly instead of definitely,

Funny thread. I only hope we never lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by O'hana.

By the way, over dinner one time at 'Ohana, one of my longtime DIS friends told us that 'ohana means never having to say you're sorry. I tell you that even though our group all decided that night that what happens at 'Ohana stays at 'Ohana. We're all friends here.

'Ohana.

Walla! I spelled 'Ohana it correctly. :yay:

Except the other word really is: Voilà.

Not Walla or Wallah.

According to the urbandictionary.com, their definition of people who use Walla is:

"Walla is a word used by ******** Americans who don't know any foreign languages and barely know their own. The correct word they are looking for is [the French word,] "Voilà", which loosely translates [in French] as "here it is", "there you go", or similar meanings.

Of course, the word Voilà. properly pronounced in French sounds a bit like "vwalla", but with the "v" in front pronounced softly, almost like an "f". Being stupid Americans though, they can't pronounce anything which doesn't sound 100% English (not that they can pronounce English either) so in their incredibly lazy way, they don't even try to pronounce it correctly. "

And if one thinks the spelling is Wallah:

An Arabic word that means "I swear to God." or I swear to Allah. "Wallah, I'm telling the truth."

Yes, major peeve of mine.

Okay, got that out of my system. . . until the next time I see "Walla!" :badpc: ;)
Unless, of course, it's echoed: Walla Walla ;)

There, their, they're. Take my advise, everyone should just breath. Your to upset.

Try "and". As in "Try and get a reservation for O'hana's." It is try "to".
