The first time I saw "wallah" I could not figure out what the poster was trying to say. All that I could think of was the Indian meaning of that word. (I still don't get how the sound of voilà could be interpreted as wallah.-- it sounds totally different to me.)

O'Hana I can live with; at least it is a somewhat logical mistake, given that there is supposed to be an apostrophe.

BTW, I was at a local sporting goods store on Sunday, waiting for skates to be sharpened. There was a large TV on the wall that was tuned to the Olympics, and several children were watching it while their parents were waiting in line. The Billy Demong Visa commercial came on, and right on cue, a little boy piped up, "what guy?"

"Gone/go/went missing." You don't "go missing." You ARE missing, you were missing, she is missing, I am missing… but nobody GOES missing. They can disappear, too… but they don't GO MISSING. In a related area, last night a sportscaster said a game had "gone final." I think he meant the game was finished

Another "favorite" peeve of mine is "___a.m. in the morning." When ELSE would a.m. be, if not in the morning? A friend wrote, "We are leaving at 2 a.m. in the morning," and I wanted to post something snarky so badly, but I didn't. I can control myself… yeah, right!
