Do you ever go ahead & do something even though you know you'll probably be reprimanded or talked to about it later?

Not to go into a long, boring story, but I'm thinking of handling a situation today which I'm sure my boss will tell me tomorrow that was the wrong way to go. And what might happen, he'll talk about it, think about it & maybe, just maybe, come up with the same solution (but not necessarily). I just want to get this situation taken care of. It won't be then end of the world if I did it my way & it doesn't work, at least I doubt it will.;)

Oh, there's more I'd like to vent about but I'll keep my fingers still.

Should I go ahead & do it or wait till he comes in tomorrow to hear his solution?

I guess it depends on your relationship with your boss. If they are OK with the "better to ask forgiveness than permission" routine then you should be OK. If not, there is no reason to get into trouble today no matter how much something bugs you. You never know how long a reprimand may stay on your employment record with your company and come back later to bite you in the butt.

I'm just a little frustrated today about that & another thing that keeps popping up & I just wanted to take care of this one thing now. It's only been 4-1/2 months that this problem has been around, I guess I can wait another day.:goodvibes Just need to chill a little. I have a good relationship with him & this isn't something that would go in my personnel record.

I understand how things just seem to come to a head. If you can wait another day, I would. It will give you time to work on presenting your solution to the problem in a way that he will agree with you.

Have you discussed this situation with him before? Why not just tell him what you are going to do and avoid the reprimand. Tell him you really want it all behind you and want to get it done today.
